I found a glitch if you drive up to the club entrance and get out of the car and into the entrance you'll end up in the black void you see from outside instead of phasing into the room. It only happened once to me but I don't think I tried again.

I just got this game yesterday for nes and got to the 4-4 boss down to 2 bars left and gave up because it was late. and shit man. stage 3-2 is a fucking bitch. i had to redo it so many fucking times i was able to go through the whole level without getting hit once all because of the fucking asshole that blocks the cliff you have to jump on to enter in the boss's cave.
