Kevin you said, "i said the other day how much I love the NHL players in the Olympics, but all these near misses for the Rangers has me re-thinking that statement"

About time you wake up!!!

@Kevin DeLury @gravey94Olympics should be for amateurs like it was years ago.  We totally disagree on this.

@Kevin DeLury @lennynyrSo you sacrifice the league and the idle players and the possibility of injury just to see this game?  Like I said, you are out of your mind.

That game was supposed to be televised but they switched and televised the other one.  Think in North America, Sweden game was only available in Canada.

Give Olympic hockey back to the amateurs Kevin.  Can't believe you want the NHL to send players in 2018.  Are you out of your mind??

I watched the game and didn't hear any report of an injured shoulder.  Announcers said it was a stick to the mouth.  Who reported otherwise??

Go get McGrattan.  Shouldn't be too expensive.  Then drop Boyle.  His minutes have gone down so AV losing confidence in him.

Wrong Kevin, this loss is on Lundqvist as well as the Jersey game.  Too many soft goals lately.  Only the goal LA scored off  a deflection by Stralman was not his fault.  You said it yourself, the Rangers outplayed the Bruins yet their goaltender, who outplayed Lundqvist, stopped everything except Brassards shot which was well placed and Rask was screened.

Hank may be nervous with the stellar play of Talbot so far or hiding an injury.  If the latter, he should sit until 100%

I blame Hank more that Vig.  Hank screwed up and should have taken his medicine but compounded that mistake by deflecting blame.  Also Vig is not familiar with the NY press.    Think Hank was spoiled by Torts who rarely called him out, if ever yet Torts told Hags in public that he stinks.   Av is not afraid to call out anybody when they are deserved to be called out.  It isn't like Vig said Hank stinks.

Ask him in 3 years and see what his response is.  Rangers responded the same way when Torts was hired.  Coaches like Torts, Keenan have a short shelf life since they get their teams to overachieve the first year or two, then they get shut out by their team.

12 months ago on H. Sedin: Torts Interaction Is How You Want It To Be

Vig is right for calling out Hank.  He's not going to sign with these misfits so I would look to trade him.  Bet lots of teams would want him.   On the other hand, Vig is out of his mind putting Pyatt on the top line much less not getting rid of him.  Just because he played well for Vig a few years ago isn't a good reason to keep him now since he has sucked since being a Ranger.

1 year ago on Vigneault: Lundqvist Needs to Be Better

Reply

AV has to go.  But not his fault.  I thought the Rangers needed an offensive coach since I thought their personnel would thrive under that kind of system but instead the players have fallen real short on that score.  They have actually regressed under AVs system.  The problem is the incompetence of the GM.  If AV had players like he had in Vancouver, he'd have success here.  As presently constructed, this team will not make the playoffs.  Hope the 2014 draft is a good one. Their only two wins were low score, 2-0 and 3-1, that tells you all you need to know about this team.

@Iron Mike Need talented big guys who hit hard and intimidate and can score goals like Lucic.  I don't see him getting into that many fighte but he hurts the opposition and makes them keep their heads up and makes the opposition think twice about going after the smaller guys on his team.  Fighting is a bonus.  Our defense doesn't hit or clear the crease.  Good skaters and poke checkers but nobody to make the opposition fearful and I'm not talking about fighting.

Rangers big guys are pussies and the tough guys are lightweights.  Not the way to build a tough team.  They are going to be run over all season.

When the Rangers got Nash, I thought he was a driving force to the net, not afraid to hit guys and with his size and speed but he's turning into a ballerina  turning the puck over at center ice.   Maybe he should be cut to get his game back.

1 year ago on Could Kreider Be Cut?

Reply

With the cap space limitations the Rangers may have to base who goes down on their cap hit.

Fwds roster fight: Kreider 1.325M, Miller 1.244M, Fast 900K, Lindberg 760K, Hrivik 685K.

7th D - Allen 1.775M, Falk 975K, Bickel 750K
,

Expendable: Boyle 1.7M, Dorsett 1.633M, Pyatt 1.55M, Powe 1.066M, Asham 1M

For the forwards fighting for a spot, Kreider is the only one who was on the roster last season so his 1.325M would go away if he's sent down. Unless the Rangers drop some of the expendables like Boyle and Pyatt, don't see how both Miller and Kreider can remain on the roster once Hags and Cally come back. Sather can't do basic arithmetic, must be the Canadian education system they have in Banff.

Waive Pyatt, not Healy.   Other than Talbot sticking with the Rangers, how else could they have sent him down?  Bad if both lost.

Glad to see a healthy Miller.  If he keeps playing like this for the remaining pre season games, he'll be in the starting lineup.  So it's a battle between Hirvik, Kreider, Miller, Kristo, Lindberg, Mishinter, Healy and Fast to start the season with the Rangers.   Pyatt and Powe should be dropped.   Only Piluot, Brassard, Zucc, Richards, Nash, Moore, Dorsett, Boyle assured of spots right now.  Asham on the bubble, so there's three or four spots up for grabs.  Mashinter or Healy should battle for 13th spot if Boyle centers 3rd line, If not, Miller and Lindberg battle for 3rd line center.  If Vig gives it to Boyle, that means both Mishinter and Healy will probably be on the opening day roster.  Miller, Kreider, Hrivic for the two left wing spots open while Kristo and Fast will battle foe the open right wing spot.  Lots of options for Vig.

@TheNYRBlog @Eric_Only It's really puzzling how a guy with his size and skating ability and a hard accurate shot can't play smart.  He never seems to be on the puck like Miller is.  He may be sent down.  Maybe Vig will give him another chance in Vancouver.  Would love to see him have a great game against his former coach.

I'm more concerned about the ineffective play of Nash and Richards.  Kreider is the go to guy on that line and both Richards and Nash not able to get the puck to him.  Vig tried other wingers with Nash and Richards with no better results.  Rest of lines is Vig just evaluating.  The guys fighting for the 7th and 8th defenseman jobs have been underwhelming.  Both Falk and Bickel very underwhelming.  Vig trying different guys tonight sans McIlrath who will probably sent to Hartford on the next cut.  Good that Vig is giving Kreider a chance on another line tonight.

If he isn't going to take 3.2M, if I was Sather, I'd drop the offer by 0.1M every week and make it clear to Stepan that it is going to happen.  Let him hold out.  If it's past Dec 15th, he's ineligible to play.  Definitely put him on the market and consider the Hanzal deal.

@Melissa (blknblueshirts) @lennynyr  Melissa, Sather only has 2.1M cap space. Just giving them Stepan doesn't do anything for the cap space and Hanzal's cap is 3.1M so giving them Boyle adds 1.7M which allows them to pay Hanzal under the cap.  I picked Boyle since AV is going to try him at wing on the 4th line and both Healy and Mishinter would be better there.  I think Maloney would listen.  They would just negotiate who is coming to NY with Hanzal.   It's all about the cap space Melissa.
