@Jet Set Willy @jwatkis @Jet Set Willy it's a trilogy and therefore has lots of time for development the film has to breathe. i can't deny the way things played out with lois was poorly done but every film has flaws. and lois wasn't captured she went willingly once requested. it was a very good movie not because of the effects and explosions and such either. the thing is no one is used to superman not being superman from the very get go. think of it as the darkknight trilogy, that is what they are doing but with superman. its a trilogy that not only focuses on the heroics of the character but the character themselves. superman wasnt always superman. the reason you sa there was little character development is because you expect him to be like in the donner films by the end of the movie. i can't change your mind or anyone on this feeds for that matter but i know very well that because you expected something completeley different from the film you were dissapointed you went in close minded and didn't enjoy the film because of it. people are stupid because of their reasoning for not liking the film no one has said anything that makes sense and is also true (minus what you said about lois.) there's a reason the trilogy wasn't called superman and as isaid it is simply because in the first movie he is only reffered to superman once. throughout the movie he's reffered to as th e alien, do you not see him emerging as a hero? if not then sorry you don't have the same appreciation i had for the movie.

@ScottJamesBarber annnnnnnnd! before you give sme stupid rebutle about how donners version way better nonsense. i dont care. i'm not here to bash the old films i'm well aware of how good they are and watch them all the time with my four year old brother, he loves them as do i. but they didnt have him asking my mom for a cape so he could run around the house to the sound track i downloaded just for him it didnt give him a glimpse of the true power of superman and how even such raw power can be used to protect and save. so yeah im not smashing the originals but i'm defending mos so cut the crap and leave the donner films out of it
@ScottJamesBarber @jwatkis or you'r a close minded hag.... think! you're so used to seeing the quick transformation from clark kent to superman all happen in one movie lickity split or whatever yuo old folks say... but this is a movie about the development of superman, he isnt even superman in this movie!!! the people of earth aer jsut getting to know him! your superman will most likely emerge in the sequel. he's only just become their hero on earth. think about that. Just because he was wearing the suit doesnt mean he's necessarily superman yet i just means he's wearing his family crest. THINK ABOUT IT YOU IDIOTS HATING ON THIS MOVIE ITS A WHOLE RE-TELLING OF SUPERMAN AND THE HERO HE WILL BECOME!! B-E-C-O-M-E!! he isnt supposed to be the image that reeve portrayed yet for all you know thats what he will be like come the second movie. jesus you people are so ignorant. has it ever occured to you guys that superman wasnt always just some hero.. earth didnt always accept him? ever think of that. even as an adult not just a child. again think! at the end of the movie his witty little banter with the military officer is pretty symbolic of his character becoming more trusted by the people of earth, and the fact that he is accepted as thier hero. he leaves it up to the people to trust him and makes it possible to trust him through his actions. sorry didnt realize how stupid some people are.
@stevemailman @ScottJamesBarber @jJaay i'd like to ease some of the tension in this agument for a second but we are such nerds arguing about superman over the internet.... i love it..... man of steel was amazing though.....
@sefy76 @rosslunney @Contrabardus where do you think his hate for killing people came from? killing zod idiot. and special effects didnt allow superman two to have brutal throws like in mos and also the battle in the city would have been so much more brutal were there special effects as there were today, instead they resorted to having zod and his cronies standing retardedly blowing while there were fans blowing everything around.
@sefy76 @jJaay he was taught good values by jonothan kent, don't say he only taught him to love himself, all he did was make sure clark grew into the man that would change the world, caring about his secret isn't caring about himself, if people found out while he was a child, before he was able to learn to control his abilities before he understood that responsibilities came with them, like not striking back against bullies.... seriously how do you not see a family that raised a hero. whatever you're old you probably think interracial couples and gay couples are wrong you guys have your mind made up about everything. never gonna change. be a little more openminded haha like thats possible
@jJaay @sefy76 most respectable post on this whole thread, took the words right out of my mouth with the part about him becoming a hero, this is before he's taken the name superman, for you sefy you may indeed see your superman emerge in the next film as this is him before he truly is a "hero" in the peoples eyes. you can see the simple intereaction between the army officer and superman at the end that he's opening himself to the human race as a kryptonian, and as your superman does he wants to keep his identity a secret. thats the problem with what you expected out of the movie think of MOS as the batman begins to the man of steel trilogy, he didnt start as batman he developed into the character that we know and call batman. give snyder a chance we may just see your hero. give it time. have a little hope ;)
@sefy76 @jwatkis he's not emotionally retarded, he is smart but there was no real battle of intelligence in the movie, he's not a low life drifter, he was on the hunt for his origin, he wsnt ashamed of it, until he found the ship he didnt know his origin, he had a huge problem with murder hence his scream after killing zod, and if you're talking about the city there's nothng he could have done, it was either stop zod while sadly tearing up the city or let zod kill them all anyway without trying to stop him. the kissing i wasnt too fond of so it loses points there. but no its not even close to my version supermans strength is very much physical, i know he cares, it shows he cares, he was offered a world where he wasn't an outcast, where his people coiuld be reborn, and he clearly says, "krypton had its chance" and chooses to fight zod to the death to ensure a future for the people of earth, i don't want a movie with tons of explosions for no reason! in a superman vs zod fight that is exactly what it would be like, destruction everywhere, the alien forces colliding is gonna do a crazy amount of damage you have to know that. and a fan of superman would also know he does fight a lot. dooms day, mongul, lex luther in his suit, bizzaro. it happens. his emblem was not messed up either, it was a more crisp interpretaton sorry for the world changing a bit it couldnt be the cheezy s that looks like a goldfish. quiet about the dying bullshit you're always welcome to watch the originals, i love the originals but i also understand that the superman you're holding on to isnt the only superman in existence, notice there's differnt spiderman portrayals and even bane in the dark knight rises wasn't some poison junky who gets massive muscles and works for poison ivy. its different and is not supposed to be a change in the old character but i different take altogether, there are comics where this is what superman is like, there is the justice league a great show and this is the kind of superman we see but still compassionate and caring in a a lot of ways. yea we may not have a great attention span but you're not giving any good reasons to wh ythe movie was bad and im never gonna say that the originals were bad but they were very cheesy and do not reflfect the superman i grew up reading about in the comics, i don't care what place it was in the box office, so many people hated it before they saw it and refused to see it because of how bad superman returns was, and believe me superman returns was the worst movie i've ever seen next to the new wolverine movie, but it is still a great movie enjoyed by millions. i've watched it many times never getting tired of it the way the story is told is amazing it all flows as you really start to understand superman. if you disagree thats fine but post something that will actually sway someone into even considering what you say to be true because its not by a long shot.
@Brian J Sager boring and horibly written? you clearly don't understand what the movie was made to be like. its not just a superman movie as all the other ones were, it is a movie ABOUT superman, the movie focuses on getting to know superman as a character so we can understand him, its being set up to be a trilogy just like the dark knight trilogy and therefore the character needs to be understood. there was amazing action and sorry bud but i can alerady tell you've never read a superman comic, or watched justice league because that is the superman fans have ben wating to hit the big screen not some loser in underwear who saves kittens and gets tricked by fricken normal humans like lex luthur (which happens once or twice even when he's a bad ass) , but i'm talking braniac, zod, metallo, mongul, and doomsday i bet you don't even know who some of those are but that is the real superman that people were so anxious to see and while telling the story of superman (in a brilliant way i might add) man of steel was actually the best movie i've seen this year. now you're entitled to your opinion but if you knew a thing about superman or were even a legitimate fan you would know what a piece of art this movie was. sorry that you've been sucked into the thought that christopher reeves portrayed the best superman ever... everyone is so quick to jump to his rescue when someone comments but stop and forget he was the first... its not a big deal he was good but the superman who he portrayed was not the superman dc fans love. he's a cheesy remake that families can watch together. thats that.

@sefy76 @Contrabardus @trans8010 @jparlee321 shut up please please do almost nothing you're saying about superman is true its just childish whimsy
@Contrabardus @sefy76 @trans8010 @jparlee321 beautifully said i agree 100%
stop you don't understand the character of superman if you think the cheesy ass version is him, while i love the movies as they are the best of their tim. mos was the best superman movie i have ever seen bringing the superman of the comics to life superman does not just save kittens and lois you know. even if you just watched justice league, superman fights dangerous villians who have the power to kill him and make a lot of destruction in the process superman gives everything he has to protect the people of earth even if that means a whole city is going to be drstroyed. its the city or the earth choose one. im sorry to say old timer but you've also been tricked into the notion that the reeve superman is the original. it may be the first movie but definitely not the way superman was meant to be, the same way noboday has seen the real batman util the darknight. DC is getting it right with all their movies lately..... except green lantern
