It looks as if your version of the "Social Media Press Release" is primarily a compilation of the connecting pieces combined with a bit of text which serves as sort of an announcement.
I'm interested in the next piece. How will all of these social media press releases combine to make a social media press ROOM (a compilation of all social media press releases and other pertinent info) that can be hosted on the client's site?

I like the idea. With so many components, I guess my question would be how can a legitimate business do these fairly quickly and compile them into a "online press room"? I have worked with many clients that have a "news" option on their website. Yet, it's just a few links to references to them in the news and not a complete set of press releases as you show above. If Shift (or any vendor) can set a good standard for social media press releases, we would want them to also make an easily embeddable "press room" that showcases these releases (and standard similar information) in a "PRESS ROOM".
I like your train of thought, Chris. Keep it up. I'm very interested in where this is leading. All marketers and PR people should be.

I think the biggest problem our industry faces with statistics in general is that websites like Mashable and RRW simply throw out strong headlines which get retweeted and shared like crazy. That's why people tend to remember the general idea (especially the ones they like) but not the true source or method of arriving at these statistics.
In other words, sometimes we need to use our brains and not just glance at blog headlines to make credible decisions. If all of our social media training is from reading blogs, we're all in trouble, IMHO

Nice post and congrats, DJ. Personally, I have worked hard to not get too much email. I have created rules, etc to make sure that my inbox is only for real people specifically writing me. All automated stuff, social media, etc gets sent to specific folders that I check at specific frequencies. So I don't have much email to check. That's what works for me. Happy you have found something that works for you.
