and the watch is sweet...
Ariel,
You don't HATE the word "OVERSIZED"..."you don't care for the word" ...who loves ya babe :)
Me likes...
@Kris C I would say no Kris...where it however you want , however you want. I think this article speaks to the person who has nearly no interest in the watch itself but simply the name brand and it being expensive. I have a 16 place watch winder, and countless watches, but it's all about the snooty attitude that drives me crazy. Most of these folks have no idea what makes their watch such a mechanical wonder, and they have no interest in finding out. It's keeping up with the Jones's , that's the kind of behavior that drives me bananas...Otherwise...Rock out with your co*k out... :)
I buy watches to please myself, not to impress anyone else. My grandfather had a shop on Jewelers Row on Samson St. in Philly. Caught the bug from him. He owned one watch, a solid gold Croton Nevada Gretchen which he wore everyday, it became my father's and now it's mine. I have many different watches, but I just can't get into the attitude thing. Same with my cars, same with my motorcycles, and same with my stereo gear. I have no time for self indulgent blowhards, just don't have the patience for them in all walks of life. That's the country boy in me, I'm too mellow and laid back for that kind of nonsense...
After being a subscriber to Ariel's blog, I just discovered this live forum...I really need to get out more :)
I love these watches, and the accuracy redundancy has me smiling big time. But A.A. that's between 1K AND 2k of coolness. Am I losing touch with what is considered affordable these days. The Skyhawk AT Blue Angel Titanium seems like the bargain of the year. I have to get with the times...
I met Flav a couple of times when his career was on fire, and he was and is a superstar. Also married to Brigettte Nielson. I spoke to hime for about 15 minutes, we had a record and stereo store at the time, he was promoting his band. The most unassuming gentle guy you could imagine. The Invicta is perfect for him, the largeness fits him. He won't buy into the mega-dollar watch nonsense, it's just not him...I wouldn't buy a 100,000 watch either, I'd prefer driving mine, no grass, just that funky little prancing horse on the hood...
Yea buddy !!!!! The propeller is third, red and carbon second, and I want the skeletonized version now :)
Daytona kicks off the 2 wheel madness, and being a Ducati freak, I look forward to the Italian marque having a much better year than the year before. Then bring on the Pannigale for 2013 !!!
What was old is now new again...Beautiful classic watch by a tried and true watch maker...
Beautiful engravings...Does God wear a watch? I always thought he was pretty much aware of what time it was :)
That's a sexy watch, I LIKE IT !!!
Holy cow Batman, it's a completely different watch than my 1970's GMT...Thanks Rolex !!!!!!!
I love Rado, makes my heart go thump-it-ti-thump...and this piece is gorgeous, but 15K, c'mon boys, have a heart...
Exposed certainly, as long as I can read the damn thing. Some of them are so busy I would have to ask my girlfriend what time it is. I do love those gears. And it would go well with my Ducati's...Italians dig that :)
I first saw this without my reading glasses on my face. I figured it was that or lack of coffee. Well, got my glasses and coffee, wow, that is BUSY ! Is it my imagination, or is that TOO complicated to tell the time? I must be getting old...
Rolex should wake up and smell the "updating and buyers demographic changing" coffee. Rolex is an amazingly great timepiece. Is it getting old and tired looking? I think so. Are people looking elsewhere for alternatives? All you need to do is look around at what's on peoples wrist to answer that question. It's still an in house design movement and watch case, and a relative "bargain" in the in the $5000.00 price range, especially on the used market.
The column however addressed design and putting a more modern face on a classic design. It's time Rolex begin offering more than just face color change outs and diamond options and check their buying demographic. It's beginning to age. With that, you need to address the younger audience of CEO's.
Without giving the people at Rolex a heart attack, can we see some updated design choices. A GMT center ring isn't what I had in mind.
Don't be caught nappin' boys...
I'll take one of each...
