@onetenther Are you equating a right to murder (taking of an innocent life) with that of self-defense?

If the right to keep and bear arms (self defense) is unalienable (which I believe it is) then can a state (NJ) take it away. If the answer is yes, then the right is not unalienable. I often am told that since the BOR pertains to the FEDS only, then based on the 10th Amendment, states can infringe the RTKBA. Or, am I missing a point. I'll accept that NJ can deny my RTKBA if I am a felon, mentally unstable (careful with that one), etc. Where is my thinking correct or incorrect?
Ask a liberal (that may not be fair) if a state can deny freedom of the press. Oh no. Why -- 14th amendment/incorporation doctrine. Ask then if a state or city can take away gun rights. Well, uhhh, ohhh, huh? By their logic wouldn't the 2nd amendment also be incorporated?
Excellent article. Very informative.

Ok -- I need a bit more convincing. I wish the FF's had written Congress shall make no law: the amendments 1-10. But they only added Congress shall...for the 1st. So, then, the FF's who believed in inalienable rights granted by God, given to you at birth CAN be denied to you by your State. Your state can deny your free speech, right to own a gun, right to a jury trial, etc? Answer -- vigilance, vote the bums out, move to a better state? Possible. Opinions please. Help my education!

Ohhhhh here he goes!
The true conservative does not get asked about what he has done to promote conservatism! He wants to CONSERVE the constitution, limited government, property rights etc. The others will conserve TARP, medicare, medicaid, social security the military industrial complex and the FED!!!!!!!!
We are in trouble. Either Obama for another 4 years or Mitt-Newt-Ricky it doesn't matter. What a bunch of idiots. If Dr. Paul doesn't get the nomination it MUST be 3rd party.
IT's a sick and sad commentary.

I was upset with King's first question -- I want issues. But Newt knocked it out of the park. Ron Paul had an awesome night. BEST yet! My wife was downstairs watching (me upstairs -- please no comments), when they ignored the good Doctor on abortion, and i yelled downstairs that they were doing so. And to my utter surprise the audience demanded RP be heard. What a refreshing response considering that God/Golden Rule was booed two nights ago. Ron Paul was great tonight! Keep the faith everyone.
The audience is frighteningly ignorant. The panel is doing their usually good job of ignoring the good Dr. Early on Romney mention his investments in steel mills that went belly-up because of foreign dumping. Ron Paul missed a good opportunity --- our desire to maintain a base in Okinawa lead to the US allowing Japanese steel manufacturers to dump steel here in the US -- great policy!

Ben, yes! After the foreign policy/Iran question that was it for Ron Paul until the moronic question about thou shalt not sperak ill of another Republican. Who was the FIRST candidate tonight to be told he went over the buzzer? Of course, Ron Paul. That despite the fact that moderators regularly were allowing others to extend their time. Strange how a year ago I respected Fox news -- my filter has completely changed.

MittRomnetcentral -- yes it does come up Captain America but I was not banned for 5 minutes. Simply put a space between each lettre and it goes through (R o n P a u l).
I think someone asked to explain why the FED was important. I can but don't want to type that much. Since becoming seriously interested in politics I have read more than 50 books (now retention is another matter). So...if anyone REALLY wants to know about the FED start w/ 1) the Constitution (there is NO authority to establish a central bank), 2) The Creature from Jeckyll Island and 3) End the Fed by Ron Paul.
If Ron Paul does not get the Republican nomination AND goes third party I will vote for Ron Paul because I believe that independents, the young, and awakening democrats along with a substantial republican base can get the job done. If he drops out.....

Absolutely maddening the back and forth time between Newt and Mitt. The respond if mentioned rule is making my head split. Ron had some great answers -- he got the FED in there and he was brilliant with his response on the gov. intervening on personal health habits. HEADLINE: Paul NOT asked about ISREAL! And finally it was wonderful to watch the smartest man on the stage -- Newt Gingrich!!! Sorry, make that RON PAUL (early in the "debate" when asked aboutr creating jobs he got to the root cause the FED he was talking above the heads of the entire panel).
Love Ron. Will vote for Ron, even third party. But, the Timothy McVeigh (sp?) line hurt. At least 2 times others mentioned Ron Paul and he was NOT given his rebuttal time (Santorum and I think Perry).
