"I'd just as soon get rid of the ring bearers in this little fellowship of suck." Brilliant. Love it.

I don't think the first half of Sunday's game was respectable at all, but I'm not ready to thrown anyone under the bus for it. A few points:
1) Didn't the Manning Colts have the same problem of playing down to their opponents?
2) Which team in the NFL this year is beating the teams they "should beat" consistently?
3) We had the bootleg covered every single time. Keenum simply avoided the pressure and made plays.
4) Maybe the Texans aren't that bad - they did lose to KC by only 1 point...(Weak argument, I know, but still).
Other than that, I must say last night is why I love being a Colts fan. Game ain't over 'till the fat lady sings.

This annoys the heck out of me: Donald Brown gets on the field, and his first run goes for 52 yards. His next play is a 9 yard reception. Why take him out? His next two plays are 9 and 10 yard runs - and then he's done. Why?
I'm just going to say it. Donald Brown outplayed TRich today. Every time he touched the ball, he gained at least 9 yards. Why the heck wasn't he in more? Where is the "go with the hot hand" mentality?

@Music Man I take it you mean see *Davis as a 1 or 2?

@Nate Dunlevy @EVLGNUS @ManiacalOne Or pull a Bob Sanders during the playoffs. ;)

And isn't the 10 yard cushion a coaching decision? Isn't it what Tim Jennings used to struggle with? What is the advantage to it??

If we're beat by 40, people won't be mad because of the defense. They'll be mad at the offense. Unless we're beat 80-40.
Despite the hard times
We Colts fans will stay loyal
Because we bleed blue

We have seen Greats leave
Manning as Marvin before
but one more shall rise
All good things must end
Too early, yes, it is true
but Luck brings us hope
Hmm...I wrote this, though it didn't seem to show up...

@kasey_junk @horseshoe19 Any thoughts on resigning Gonzo? I assume he will be more than affordable, and if he sees the field, perhaps he'll fulfill the promise of his first 2 years. I never did think he got the chance last year.

flores_salicis Not to be a naysayer, but I believe we were rooting for the Pats in the divisional round of the '06 season. Still feels wrong.

Great, unbiased article, Nate. Admit it, though. If it's a coin flip, you'd much rather see the Patriots lose. ;)
matt_has Quick note: Collie was more open, but Wayne was open, too. For that matter, Garcon could have been open in a second: it's a cover-1, which means good receivers will get open. Peyton was just going to his veteran, hands receiver. The receiver let him down.

gizzardfannyvbcolts Couldn't they void the deal and resign it with only the option date changed?

I think the only option is to take Luck. People talk about "waiting 2 years for the next once-in-a-generation QB", but who's to say we will have the pick to take that person?
As they say, a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the tree. We don't know what bird Luck is, but there's nothing to say he's any worse than the next guy 2 years from now.

Nate Dunlevy Oh, I totally agree. On the other hand, Andrew Luck is supposedly "very rare". My only point is that you never know what's going to happen.

Dear Reggie Wayne:
If Peyton comes back, you want him throwing to you. Make the contract work. Please?

Random thought. The year Elway was drafted, there was this QB that went #27th in the draft. Depending on how you look at it, he may have been a better QB than Elway. His name? Dan Marino.
Everyone is on the "Luck, RGII or no one" bandwagon. What if there's another option that we haven't considered yet who we can pick up AFTER trading #1 or #2?
