@Twig @slapshotgoal @BenSanborn Gotcha. I still haven't given up on Monster and think that a summer of working out and training with the Wings, plus an actual training camp will help him get back on track. Hopefully we won't need to re-visit this topic at all next season.

@Twig @BenSanborn I agree that Mrazek would benefit most from playing a heavy load in Grand Rapids, but who else would you bring up? Pearce and McCollum's contracts are both up at the end of the season, and it's pretty clear that neither of them are in the Wings' future. Pearce is a RFA and has said he's going to go finish college, and even if he didn't, I don't want him playing in the NHL. The same goes for McCollum, he's also a RFA, and even if the Wings kept him to back up in GR, I'd rather have Monster play in the NHL than Tommy. The other goalie the Wings have signed is Coreau, but he's coming from college and hasn't even played any pro hockey yet. If you call someone up, and it's not Mrazek, who would it be? The only call up I'd rather have in net over Gustavsson (even if he shat the bed) would be Mrazek.

@Twig He's still battling back issues and I heard last week that he wasn't able to play right now anyway. I suspect that he'll just be hanging around until he gets better, then maybe traded (since we don't need him and he did request to be traded somewhere he could actually see ice time).

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm avoiding most blogs today because the pessimism that I'm anticipating will only make me even more pissed off and angry. This isn't over yet and not once have I said "Nashville is just too good" or anything of the like. They're a good team, but they're not great and I haven't seen anything from them that I don't know we can beat. They need a fire under their ass. Lidstrom's calm confident leadership is essential, but the team also needs a firey Draper in the room to kick butts and take names and get them riled up. Where's the anger I saw in game 2? can we put posters up all around the dressing room of Weber smashing Z's head as a reminder? I'm not giving up either. LGRW!

@moorecha I'm all about laughing at things while people tell me I'm going to hell for laughing; since I'm often that person.  But for me, that picture crossed the line.

I'm still pissed and angry about the whole situation; but that picture makes my stomach turn sour. Here's why...Bertuzzi has worked so hard over the lst 8 years to prove that's not who he is... it haunts him everywhere he goes, and most of us (most people here included from what I've read) defend the player and person he is now. I get livid every single freaking time someone drags Bertuzzi into something he has nothing to do with, and the aftermath of Wednesday's game is no different. I'm not overly sensitive, and I like things in good fun.. but in my opinion this is exactly what gives fire to the Bertuzzi haters out there and does an injustice to Bertuzzi himself and his character. I usually like what I read on your site and appreciate the work you guys do; but I'm really disappointed and ashamed of that picture. I'm sure you were expecting some response like this, but I wanted to say it anyway.

@Red_Wings-Devilmasta If he's not suspended then it tells the teams and players that they're responsible for doing their own policing... I prefer this to the NHL taking such a big role, but if it's up left to the players for take care of it themselves, then they better make Weber pay. Also, in the post game interviews, Keating spoke to Kronner, and while he was calm and polite as always, his eyes could have shot lasers... he was furious... better watch your back Weber.

@Twig That's an awesome story! From what I know of Conklin and the kind of person he is, I find if completely believable. Still hoping he's able to bring his career back online and play the game he loves.

I'm happy with Mac as the backup. He gave up the opportinuty to win games, it's not his fault we only scored 1 goal last night. I also look at his progress and improvement and think immediately of Osgood. I wonder how much working wtih Ozzie has helped? Just a thought. Good writeup though. After the game last night emotions ran high and many people were trying to put the loss on Mac, no way no how. A tandem of J and J? Sign me up.

@Josh Howard@thebiglachovsky For me, it's not so much that he isn't scoring goals; rather the way he often doesn't even seem to try. I don't care that Z isn't scoring goals, he's working his butt off and having a positive impact on the team. I don't see that same level of dedication and work form Mule. That's where my personal frustration come from.

@Josh Howard Fun fact. Babcock also hs an F-150, but his is killer sweet with lots of bells and whistles. Makes me proud he has good taste in vehicles though. :)

homer probably backs up to other people's cars so they can't get out and every time they try to go around him, he moves in front of them. I'm sure it's just natural instinct for him by now. And yes, it was an F-150, pretty nice one at that.

I've been a little disappointed with Z's production so far this season, we all know he's capable of more because we've seen it. At this point, I'd like to see at least 70 points out of him this season. I don't fault Z, and I'm not down on him at all, here's why. Even when he's not scoring or setting other players up for goals; he's working hard. Early in the season, I was very confused by him, and after a couple weeks of him not playing/shooting like himself, I really began to wonder if he was injured. I started asking around and eventually heard that he had been playing with a plastic wrist guard, that he usually didn't wear. I think there was a injury, even if it was minor, that was affecting his play more than any of us knew. If that's the case, I'm much more forgiving of the slow start. The thing I'm impressed with about Zetterberg is that even though he's struggling, and not achieving the standard he's set for himself in the past, he's still working hard. Even when he doesn't have a goal in the game, he's still busting his ass trying. I'm much more forgiving of players who didn't produce when they were working hard, than I am of players who aren't trying or are just half assing it. You mentioned that with Z being on the second line, he doesn't usually see the top D pairing on the ice. I've heard it discussed, and agree, that Zetterberg seems to have less room when he's on the ice than ever before. He's working his ass off, but it seems like almost every time I look, he's getting mugged in the corner, or he's got more than one person on him and doesn't have much room to work at all. There were a lot of changes this year for the Wings, and I expect some adjustment time for many of the players. We have two big players on the top line to help make room for Pav, I'd like to see a bigger, more physical player on the second line to help do the same for Z and Flip. I don't believe for a second that Z isn't trying and working hard, even when he doesn't have the puck, he's making smart plays and moves to get into the best position to make good things happen.

Every time I think about Rusty and his family, it suddenly gets dusty wherever I am. Reading 'I'm not playing any more, papa doesn't play any more, I'm not playing any more.' What do you say?" still breaks my heart and hit me like a ton of bricks when I first read it. Of all the loss the hockey family suffered through in 2011, I think losing Rusty hit me personally the hardest. I'm incredibly impressed with this action by the Ducks. With all sincerity, I say well done. I miss you too Rusty.

Thanks for the post. I love Bertuzzi and I hate that he's still paying for a mistake and made out to be a monster. I've met him and he really is an incredibly nice guy. I root for him extra just because I want to see him succeed in spite of the haters. I even named my fantasy team Hulktuzzies in his honor. Awesome post, and thanks for bringing the Hulktuzzi into my life.
