@TruancyBot Got to agree with you. I admit at times it is hard to root for some of your rivals. But having them win these bowls helps the SEC and because of revenue sharing, everyone gets more money as well.
I think one factor that has influenced people's opinion is that the SEC usually has a couple of blowout victories mixed in those bowls. So far in this season that hasn't happened yet.
Yeah and there's a big difference in having a week or in this case a month to prepare for the game. Nebraska pulled out quite a few new offensive plays for that game.
@MoKelly1 @bamafan4 Yeah there are some 'southern' aspects to the Missouri Ozarks I've visited.
@John at MrSEC Actually I was thinking he was more like Bigfoot. I'm waiting for someone to show up with a mold of his footprint from his imported boutique shoes. lol But seriously, there really does seem to be a lot of smoke here. But I'm still not holding my breath on Gruden leaving his ESPN job just yet. Maybe he really will make a move this time. But I just think Gruden likes hearing his name batted around by these schools.
I think Gruden just likes hearing his name mentioned. As mentioned, anything is possible. But I'd be very surprised if Gruden actually took a coaching job anytime soon.
@KC Guy @TxRzrbak @JB You beat me to it. I've got agree with what you said KC Guy. Over all I think the biggest thing is will this impress recruits? I'm not sure if the whole anti-uniform change stance are just older fans who don't want any change. But a point I'd also like to point out is that the current Razorback uniforms aren't the authentic uniforms dating back to the beginning of Razorback football history. So obviously there's been changes. I can't say I'm a huge fan of what I've seen so far. But I'm also not going to make a big deal over them changing the uniform either. If something like this might actual help sway some possible recruits then I say go for it.
For Arkansas I think it's a good move. But Long did burn up some of that good PR he got a few weeks ago. But I think there was pressure to keep the rest of the coaching staff together and really try to make something of this upcoming season with the players that are left. Speaking as an Arkansas fan I think it's a good move. But even I have to admit I really do feel bad for Weber State. I do think sometimes things come up and you can't predict what will happen if a big opportunity falls in your lap, like it did for John L Smith. But I think Arkansas has to realize there's going to be some bad PR involved with this type of move.
I disagree with Arkansas needing a new coach right now. You have limited time to make a decision, then at this time of year it's going to be hard to get a lot of candidates to come. Then even if you do, it most cases everyone's going to have to learn a new system. Arkansas will do just fine with the rest of the coaching staff in place. The players won't have to relearn another system. Jeff Long has a lot more time to make a thorough search. And there will be a lot more candidates interested after the end of the season.
Supposedly Jeff Long was willing to keep him but Petrino wouldn't budge on the penalties. Maybe all the fan support made Petrino too arrogant in thinking he could come back on his own terms. Really leaves the program hanging this season, but I think Jeff Long did what he had to do.
I don't know if anyone knows the exact wording of the contract. But everyone has been assuming it's worded so that changes can be made if say other schools join the conference. I doubt the SEC would have tied itself to a strict hardline contract till 2024 without such clauses.
I don't like always playing the championship in football at Atlanta. I don't see why they can't move that around a little as well. I know you won't have as many options as you would in basketball. But New Orleans could easily host it as well. At least throw a bone to the SEC West team fans once in a while.
Over all sounds like a good thing. I imagine South Carolina will like playing in Texas every other year for recruiting purposes. And an Arkansas-Missouri match up just makes sense for a good rivalry. Fayetteville is by far the closest school to Missouri.
When LSU scored that last TD Petrino was pissed and he said a few things which the tv camera caught. So if you could read lips you could tell he used some 'colorful' language. Other than that though, I think he's been pretty respectable while he's been at Arkansas.
Yeah, you know Petrino was really disappointed to lose him at the very end like that, when everyone had him going to Arkansas till the last few days before signing day. Petrino gets a lot of flak for things in the past. But since he's been at Arkansas I think he's been very good and been very respectable. The only issue that's really come up since he's been at Arkansas is that incident at the LSU game.
Not a big deal, but not a good idea to use UA in an article that deals with both Alabama and Arkansas. Both schools refer to themselves as that. But still wasn't hard to figure out what you meant from the context. Anyway just wanted to mention that. Carry on. : )
AndrewMartin I'd at least like to see New Orleans get a few championship games. Having it in Atlanta all the time seems a bit unfair to all the SEC West teams. And if Georgia is playing from the East then it's basically like a home game for them.
Yeah let's ignore all the problems the Big Ten had this year with scandals and point the finger at someone else. That's odd I don't recall of hearing about any incidents of schools covering up for a child molesting assistant coach in the SEC. But apparently that isn't anywhere as 'bad' as over signing and such that the SEC has been called out over. What a laugh. That last bit was great, telling the kids to stay off his lawn. lol

Yeah I'm with you. I think a lot of the problems stem from other issues. I think Malzahn is more or less at the wrong place at the wrong time.
