We have yet to discuss the possibility of Playoff Derek Fisher playing center for us.
@Royce Young @Amnesty Perkins @walrusmuse His (Gasol's) jumpshot made me depressed every time. it was so solid. Not much to do, besides front or get aggressive, which worked out well for NIck...(sads)
I'm partial to both Russians and the T Wolves, so Pekovic is always an intriguing figure (and scary), but as @Royce Young correctly points out, there simply aren't a lot of trade scenarios that work. So I love @Jax Raging Bile Duct 's thoughts below: developing Ibaka, using Perk in role positions, and even maybe having some luck in the draft for a rotation fella (or with PJ3?) are what's realistic. Amnesty isn't impossible, but I think the article lays it out well that it isn't the only option we have and it's probably not the best option.
@Amnesty Perkins @walrusmuse Gasol can bring Perkins out with his jumpshot, and honestly our rotations were so jacked by missing Russ / Brooks (who did get better) it threw him out. But Gasol is one of those bigs who Perk is not as strong on, obviously.
Or the idea that our other bigs step up, namely Serge, who has shown some defensive improvement this playoffs, for sure. He gets hammered less and less by good footwork and medium bigs. It's getting better.
I love Perk on big bigs, I really do trust him against Howard and his ilk (Perk is far more mentally tough than Howard, though as a player Howard obviously more dominant). We just see the league changing, and our main nemeses changing so much to a smaller or less center-dominant culture that the Specalist idea Royce posited seems the best, if we can't trade or otherwise replace him with even a Milsap-type. Which is highly unlikely.
@Ibaka's Jumpshot bahahahaha mind melding here
@Ibaka's Jumpshot oops just saw your post! great minds....
I'm hoping for #3 as well, but I also am slightly hoping it is connected to a coaching change. Which is less likely than the amnesty happening.
The "we won lots of games with Perk" argument is a bit of a stretch in correlation vs causation. But this is an excellent breakdown of the issue.
I should say, we do -want- other options. But they aren't getting off their crutches anytime soon, catching the ball on PNR's anytime soon, not-streaky shooting anytime soon, and definitely not learning to coach somewhere above VDN's skillset anytime soon. So what else is KD to do?
KD did take some less than great shots late, no doubt. But to be a broken record helping to drown out the crazy, by no means do we have nor want other options. Better shots, which come from a combo of KD working, Brooks actually coaching and drawing plays, and OKC team executing. A lot of variables. It ALL falls on KD. The world's biggest magnifying glass is on him. Of course it seems exaggerated. I still want KD running the show late. every damn time.
Big game Wednesday, each one is the last from here on out. Hope those of you with tickets get loud and proud, those of us without will be loud as we can. Would love a guerilla Thunder Alley, regardless of cops. They'd probably join in if we were amiable enough. Well, prob not.
9 million helluva lot to pay for 2 rebounds.
@ErickAF @walrusmuse @OohWeeItsVelvetHoop this is true. as we have seen past few games. I want a series where our starting center is also in a big role but he does well against both.
also hoping the K Mart Home Version TM shows up tonight.
@OohWeeItsVelvetHoop I keep going back and forth. MEM has better coaching and skill, but Clips have CP3 and tough offense. I dunno.
Hope the Peake is record setting tonight in noise and energy
It shouldn't be possible for Houston to ever hear McHale during a timeout or while Beverley has the ball.
Also, Asik fouled Reggie; if Serge fouled Harden on the exact same defensive play.
