off to get a table in OKC in front of a big TV…keep the faith ladies and gents.

@sammasaaron @walrusmuse @DanielLawler yep depth wise the Clippers are frightening, but it's somehow worked pretty well matchup wise. I wasn't entirely surprised at Game 1, to be honest. But I was wrong to think they would be dominant. After 2-3 We showed we can take this should we execute for 48. But the Clippers are a team you -have- to work on for 48 or they will come back.
Definitely think it's up to OKC whether they win or lose the series, not really in LAC hands. Of course that can be scary with our patented lack of focus, but much better position to be in. Last series did not feel like that.
@DanielLawler i think it's pretty good chance we win, and i was really done after the last series' game 5 loss. so i hesitate but i think Clips more fiery and could capitalize on close out in LA (if they won tonight). either way would prefer not to find out.
LOL, that's more like it. Look at us, all bearish on the starting 5 for once.
hide him on Barnes, just no easy perimeter stuff from Barnes Caron prob be fine. weird change though at this point.
@greatwhitebuffalo @walrusmuse i'm sure they're both trying to enjoy a rare day off in this season...but i'm always open to grilled cheese.
2 months, 4 weeks ago on Thunder put down the Grizzlies to move on, 120-109
@King of Carrot Flowers in four @walrusmuse im watching for that - they don't label on guide but im taping a few to see if it's okc-mem - thanks!
came home to the bad news i didn't tape em...
outside of DVR, which I thought I had one while out of town, anyone know where I can watch a reply of Games 6 and 7, especially 7?

@Zande @walrusmuse I'm not very active here, though I usually lurk a bit. Just happy to hear the conversations.
that being said - of course playoff losses hurt, homecourt loss hurts, and miracle erasure hurts (KD said his amazeballs 4 pt play didn't matter because they lost, and I agree completely). So of course we'll overreact a bit. That's unfair to Brooks, who has shown brilliance before (remember SAS in 2012?) - I'm anxious to see him do it again tomorrow.
I'm not sure it's the one loss that has Brooks on the hot seat, it's that that SI article could've been written about the Thunder's offense in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and now 2014. We've been talking the same halfcourt quagmire with 3 all stars in it for a few years with little to no improvement.
@FunakiEjectsAnother @Bryson Encino Man. Absolute classic.
5 months, 1 week ago on Six questions about Russell Westbrook’s return
I remember how utterly lost the guys looked in Game 5 when Heat started raining 3's and running away….one of the saddest things we've seen in OKC's short history with NBA…I just want so bad to start exorcising those memories with a few wins...
6 months ago on 10 thoughts, fears and questions heading into the Heat game
like I said on that old thread, Brooks is coaching with some real sass right now (for him) and I hope he is just giving the normal Thunder line about rotations.
i might stress eat a whole pizza so keep me away from @f5alcon 's pizza.
tony brothers tho.

Wade's yapping, which leads me to think (or hope) he won't have much to do in this game. so he yaps, trying to ahem "keep his place in history" going
Brooks' intransigence isn't encouraging but whatever, still think it's doable. Maybe Brooks is gonna play mind games and actually adjust. he's been absolutely coaching with some flexibility and response past few weeks, which is encouraging. also KD helps.
way nervous. totally think we can win this one. but way nervous.
Really, would it be worse to just let some kid walking around LoDo come in and coach the 4th? Would we notice anything different?

Whither the Brooks of WCF 2012?
I've missed you all.

Love these thoughts. I also love that the bottom part of the post works a possible way through the paradoxical sayings of Jesus that doesn't float as either faux-Tao, nor "take it or leave it" appeals to category error, w/r/t God's transcendence, as the former half of the article works through.

"The reason the Thunder have gone from 20 wins to 23 wins to 50 to eventually 60 last season hasn’t been because of offseason moves or by signing players. It’s been because their young players have gotten better."
This is the key idea for me. The only way to "stranglehold"the West would've been to break cap Russia-style and lock up some major 3rd player, or do that for Harden even. We know that's not in the cards, so if it's gonna be rings, gonna be close. I don't know why we wouldn't be the favorite still. Last year the preseason Lakers bullishness was hilarious. I'd be bullish on MEM, SAS, LAC, GSW but not more so than an essentially unchanged OKC.
1 year ago on Are the Thunder still favorites to win the West?
We have yet to discuss the possibility of Playoff Derek Fisher playing center for us.
1 year, 2 months ago on Should the Thunder amnesty Kendrick Perkins?
@Royce Young @Amnesty Perkins @walrusmuse His (Gasol's) jumpshot made me depressed every time. it was so solid. Not much to do, besides front or get aggressive, which worked out well for NIck...(sads)
I'm partial to both Russians and the T Wolves, so Pekovic is always an intriguing figure (and scary), but as @Royce Young correctly points out, there simply aren't a lot of trade scenarios that work. So I love @Jax Raging Bile Duct 's thoughts below: developing Ibaka, using Perk in role positions, and even maybe having some luck in the draft for a rotation fella (or with PJ3?) are what's realistic. Amnesty isn't impossible, but I think the article lays it out well that it isn't the only option we have and it's probably not the best option.
@Amnesty Perkins @walrusmuse Gasol can bring Perkins out with his jumpshot, and honestly our rotations were so jacked by missing Russ / Brooks (who did get better) it threw him out. But Gasol is one of those bigs who Perk is not as strong on, obviously.
Or the idea that our other bigs step up, namely Serge, who has shown some defensive improvement this playoffs, for sure. He gets hammered less and less by good footwork and medium bigs. It's getting better.
I love Perk on big bigs, I really do trust him against Howard and his ilk (Perk is far more mentally tough than Howard, though as a player Howard obviously more dominant). We just see the league changing, and our main nemeses changing so much to a smaller or less center-dominant culture that the Specalist idea Royce posited seems the best, if we can't trade or otherwise replace him with even a Milsap-type. Which is highly unlikely.
@Ibaka's Jumpshot bahahahaha mind melding here
@Ibaka's Jumpshot oops just saw your post! great minds....
I'm hoping for #3 as well, but I also am slightly hoping it is connected to a coaching change. Which is less likely than the amnesty happening.
The "we won lots of games with Perk" argument is a bit of a stretch in correlation vs causation. But this is an excellent breakdown of the issue.
I should say, we do -want- other options. But they aren't getting off their crutches anytime soon, catching the ball on PNR's anytime soon, not-streaky shooting anytime soon, and definitely not learning to coach somewhere above VDN's skillset anytime soon. So what else is KD to do?
1 year, 2 months ago on Thunder vs. Grizzlies: Game 4 Pregame Primer
KD did take some less than great shots late, no doubt. But to be a broken record helping to drown out the crazy, by no means do we have nor want other options. Better shots, which come from a combo of KD working, Brooks actually coaching and drawing plays, and OKC team executing. A lot of variables. It ALL falls on KD. The world's biggest magnifying glass is on him. Of course it seems exaggerated. I still want KD running the show late. every damn time.
Big game Wednesday, each one is the last from here on out. Hope those of you with tickets get loud and proud, those of us without will be loud as we can. Would love a guerilla Thunder Alley, regardless of cops. They'd probably join in if we were amiable enough. Well, prob not.
9 million helluva lot to pay for 2 rebounds.
@ErickAF @walrusmuse @OohWeeItsVelvetHoop this is true. as we have seen past few games. I want a series where our starting center is also in a big role but he does well against both.
1 year, 3 months ago on Rockets vs. Thunder: Game 5 Pregame Primer
also hoping the K Mart Home Version TM shows up tonight.
@OohWeeItsVelvetHoop I keep going back and forth. MEM has better coaching and skill, but Clips have CP3 and tough offense. I dunno.
Hope the Peake is record setting tonight in noise and energy
