Personally, I think having a mortgage is a good form of debt for me personally because it allows me to fulfill some other dreams I have in life that aren't tied directly to money.
Paying too much for any type of insurance.
I need to do this for my Roth IRA, I'm always scrambling to find $5k right before the end date. Thanks for the reminder.
Great post, Carrie! Thanks for inspiring people to make more money and get out of debt faster!
Thanks for the weekend reading list!
Cut down on "extra" expenses. Entertainment for example.
I love skiing, so having an SUV is important to me. The good thing is I don't use it as my main form of transportation (yeah city buses!) so therefore my insurance is lower and people give me cash to drive them up to the mountain. Win / win!
It's amazing what a well documented complaint can get you with the airline companies. Would be interested to see what their payout is for dissatisfied companies.
It's a great place to go costume shopping too!
Chris Guillebeau has a great program called Travel Hacking. Check it out: http://travelhacking.org/
I would invest in some home improvement projects too :)
Nope. I've only had used cars.
I live right by OHSU a huge teaching hospital, so all my friends who are nurses have a hard time finding jobs since everyone moves to Portland, falls in love with it and wants to stay.
@GlenCraig You'll just have to come back and visit again real soon!
Thanks for letting us host a FinCon meet up! Can't wait to see everyone next week in Denver!
I have dental insurance through my company. Definitely worth it since I go twice a year.
According to LIMRA, “Three in ten American households (35 million) are uninsured and half say they need more life insurance.”
YIKES!
My mom owns a rental property and I manage it for her. We went through the city to get some free information, screenings, forms, etc. Super helpful when you start the processes. I think a 12 month lease minimum is a must, plus no smoking and pets, definitely helps narrow it down.
Congrats. I don't own a TV, but I've been thinking about getting a projector for my basement to watch movies through my laptop and TV via the internet. Thanks for the tips if I ever go the TV route.
@Philip Taylor Learn something new everyday. I need to try this one!
