Waiting until marriage to have children doesn't help if you marry a dbr. I've seen women who got married BEFORE having children and still got left holding the bag. If a man is determined to escape his responsibilities, the fact that those children were conceived in marriage won't make any difference.
Some men take sadistic pleasure out of seeing their exes suffer and beg, beg, beg for child support. Learn how to vet - I think Evia has books you can buy on vetting - so that you make sure you marry a normal, sane man.

"eah, but the "marriage talk" is meaningless, if the guy has nothing to
offer morally, spiritually, emotionally, financially, etc."
Actually that is the most annoying part. BM who have something to offer generally want to offer it to the lightest, brightest woman they can find. But when they have nothing to offer then they suddenly develop an interest in bw.
Don't fall for it!
I find it hilarious that a man who has been playing the field for so long he now has some gray hair and several baby mamas in tow thinks he is entitled to a young childless woman.
Ladies, please head over to the step parenting websites and read, read, read. Unfortunately some dumb women fall for the whole brady bunch hoax and think that they somehow have the power to fix all the mess in a man's life. Chances of ending up divorced are much higher when you marry a man with baggage.
Don't repeat the same mistake another woman made because you think your case is somehow 'different.'

I have no idea why we have people here (of all places) insisting that these are compliments. Somehow ALL these stereotypical descriptions were crammed into that one article. If this is how she compliments black women, she should just stop writing about bw. Seriously.

Exactly! This also shows how whites can use colorism to their advantage. By ensuring that only bw who resemble ww closest represent 'black beauty' they can maintain an appearance of being racially inclusive while still excluding the vast majority of bw.
1 week, 4 days ago on Shonda Rhimes Hands NY Times WW Writer Her Hindquarters on Social Media
I picked up on the colorism too! I think the reason WW feel more comfortable with women who look like Halle Berry as the representation of black beauty is that they are less threatening to WW since they bear a much closer resemblance to WW.
Darker women like Viola Davis are rarely allowed to represent sexy, desirable women because that would be more threatening to the status quo.

Oh I want to see the new show. .
This whole debacle was really pathetic. Why are people blaming her? Why did the police respond by charging them BOTH with assault? It does not matter that she hit him first.
I have never been violent but if I am 100% sure that if I tried to beat my husband he would be able to restrain me without a single blow. And he is not even a football player.

There is NO comparison. None at ALL. Christians in the US had black slaves 100 years ago. Arab muslims still have slaves TODAY. TODAY. There is no comparison at all.

Oh dear oh dear! This is so dumb I just can't. Arguing with a cop and refusing to show your ID AFTER you were seen having sex in a car???? Seriously dumb.
Oh and if a guy says he is in an 'open' relationship, that is code for he is still on the market.

I do know that more than half of Dalits are Christians http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/people/highlights/010905_racism.shtml. Unfortunately some Indians will carry over the caste system into the church, causing problems. But by far Christianity still offers more equality.
As for the Arab world, I haven't read any academic papers but my Sudanese friends were taught in the mosque that blacks were meant to serve others as slaves. That was actually taught in madrasa.

I am a Sunday School teacher and I always make a point of telling the darkest girls that they are pretty. I can always tell from their reaction that they don't hear it from anyone else :(

Actually hatred for darker skinned people among Indians and Arabs has been the greatest catalyst to Christianity. Go to the Arab world and blacks there are usually desperate to convert to Christianity because of the brutality of Arab racism. Too bad they often can't because of the threat of getting killed. Actually many of them do risk their lives to become Christians because then they can feel more human.
In India the darker skinned people will convert to Christianity to get away from the brutality of the Indian caste system.
@CecelieKeys I don't watch any movie where there is a bm dressed as a bw. THEY DO IT TO MAKE US LOOK BAD. That is the ONLY reason they do it.
This is terrible but typical!!! No, I am not going to let some dbr make me play second fiddle to other women because of my skin tone. Hell no.
The so called good bm are usually not in a hurry to settle down because they have too many options. Plus when they do settle down, it probably won't be with a bw. Therefore aaw should not pay attention to the so called 'good' bm.
2 weeks, 2 days ago on Utter Hypocrisy: Let’s Talk About All the Dudes Hating On Eve’s Marriage
Yes! The truth is that most bm's idea of the ideal black woman is someone who is 1/80 black hahaha! In other words as close to a white woman as possible.
I have nothing against mixed chicks but I don't believe I was created to play second fiddle to anyone. Therefore I don't pay attention to any colorstruck man. Sadly most bm are. I wish more bw would realize they don't have to be second, third, or fourth best.
@Neecy It is her who is getting embarrassed IMO. Not him. He was the one holding the camera taking pictures of her.

Cute! I hated that black disney princess movie where the princess was turned into a frog (*&^%^$^%^*&(!!! plus a whole lot of other bs.
I also liked the Cinderella movie with Brandy. It was really good.

I'm wondering if they were called in for lewd conduct why didn't the cops arrest both of them? But yeah, I agree that there are other cases of police brutality against bw that should have been on CNN. Not this.
Yes, they probably did show this just to make bw look bad. Again.
@DWB Oh I remember watching that. It was horrible. Not gonna watch it again.
@itsgoodtobeme @kiki jones
Thank you! I'm glad a lot of AAs are realizing that while white racism is evil, it is not by any means the greatest evil out there. Some people are MORE racist than whites.

I am very happy for Lupita. It is good to see a black woman with her complexion be celebrated like this. I love it.
This is so sad. A lot of women don't realize they are being USED until they have wasted a lot of time. There are also divorced men who don't want to pay their ex child support and don't want to do the dirty work of raising children so they survive on a series of live in girlfriends.
After four years of playing mommy a woman finally realizes that her bf does not want to marry her and he does NOT want children with her.

It is ironical that white women can pretend to be so angry about the 'evil' of patriarchy yet most of them have husbands and/or fathers who protect and provide for them. Don't watch what they say. Watch what they do.
1 year, 1 month ago on "#SolidarityIsForWhiteWomen" And That's Not Going To Change In Feminism
What a brilliant article. The reality is that everyone is more concerned about getting theirs, which means that the stronger will always be able to focus on their own wants and ignore the suffering of t he weaker.
I have learned to evaluate people INDIVIDUALLY in order to identify potential allies. Even among black women, there are many who are not interested in my suffering at all because they are keen to hold on to a sense of relative privilege.

BM get a pass on their racist behavior because racism is almost always framed as white men oppressing black men.
Black men have cornered the 'victim' position. Black women are also victims of racism but we have to put all our focus on the black man because black men's suffering is more important than black women's.
Meanwhile white men are the eternal villains.

It certainly does not. But I think such people are satisfied with their relative privilege over darker skinned blacks so they would rather maintain status quo.
@Brenda55 @Alana 2
Thanks for the info. I think it is important to be clear that colorism is systemic. It goes beyond having low self esteem or looking for validation from people or 'needing everyone to love us' as I have seen mentioned.
Just like one can be a victim of racism/antisemitism/sexism etc even if she has a healthy self esteem and isn't looking for validation from people.
Yes. Black women DO have a sickness when it comes to hair. And I do mean black women EVERYWHERE. Even in a black African country where 98% of women have kinky hair there is still a belief that natural hair is for school girls.
