Love it. What I don't love is the fact that when the game is tied at the end of regulation, I stop checking the scores because I know we aren't getting the second point. I haven't seen many of the recent games due to moving/work....what the hell is the deal with giving up leads? Shouldn't happen with a puck possession team

Good game by our guys. Think they gave up a few too many shots, but luckily JG was playing well for us. Would like to see those numbers go down.

Effing thrilled that we may finally see #43 back in the lineup soon. I miss that man.

Anyone else excited for Thursdays game? It's been a while since this team has been relevant. Would love to see the Wings curb stomp them to their first loss.

Damn...that's A-Roid type money. I agree, they will get another year out of him. Sounds like he will be on the market next summer. Hopefully we will have the money to make a run at him.

The top 6 forwards next year need to be Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Nyquist, Bertuzzi (if not bought out and healthy, because where else does he fit?) and Abby/UFA signee. Keep the kid line intact for the 3rd line, and have Helm, Eaves, and Miller/Tootoo as the 4th line. I hated Abdelkader on the Datsyuk line to begin with, but I gotta admit, I love how he played in the playoffs and down the stretch in the regular season. If he, Datsyuk, and Nyquist are on a line together, I think that would be pretty awesome. If Hossa becomes available, and this is the first I have heard it was a possibility, I would welcome him back with open arms.

I think the most pressing need for this team is a steady blue liner with PP potential. I like Brunner, but I am nervous as hell on the PP when he is on the point. Too many SH opportunities for the opponents this year IMO, and a lot had to do with Brunner. If Streit is willing to sign for an acceptable amount of money and years, I say go for it.

This is a wish list, and probably not going to happen. But hey, it's June 6th, I get my summer off from teaching in 9 days, and darn it, people like me.

I agree totally with Brunner. A few times last night the Hawks defense was able to ride him off the puck way too easily. He has a great shot, but he needs to use from dangerous places, not along the boards or at the blue line. If he can power his way to the slot, look the eff out.

Sucks the season ended like that. I will see the box the Wings created around Seabrook for the game winner in my sleep for the next week. You have numbers back, and a defenseman carrying the puck. Take the man, not the shot block.

Proud of our team though. Looking forward to next year. Hope you guys do at least a couple of posts a week in the offseason. Love the site, love your POV's even though I don't always agree with them. And I cant wait to see #43 out there causing all kinds of havoc next year.

I know that it won't happen, but I really would love to see Brendan Smith sit down for game 7. Having him out there for 16 minutes a game is not helping them,. He seems to have lost all confidence in himself, and is constantly turning the puck over and leaving his man in the defensive zone. Too many Hawks getting behind the last DMan for breakaways. As terrible as that penalty shot call was, that is all on Carlo for even attempting that shot.

Hoping for a game 2-4 like effort in game 7. Hopefully this is a case of bend but dont break. LGRW!

I just want to mention Tootoo's hit on the defenseman in the 2nd period (I think). God I love that. If it was Burrows he hit like that,  I probably would have had to change my shorts.

Big win, great post here. Zetterberg went beast mode last night, and it was awesome to watch. That was probably my favorite empty net goal of all time, after Shanny's in game 5 of the 02 finals.

A note on the PP. I live near Philly, and for years the Flyers have had a dump and chase PP, and I always hated it. But last night, watching the PP2 line turn it over time after time at the blue line, I was screaming for them to dump the puck in. The top line has the skill to try to dangle at the blue line and enter the zone to set up, but the 2nd line was having trouble trying it. The Blues are a great defensive team, and I am sure they were happy as hell to see the same thing over and over again. Anyone else want to see some dump and chase with the second line? Or at least some variety with entering the zone? I dunno, just seems like something needs to change there.

Go Wings!

Datsyuk has been brilliant so far this year. If I had a nickel for every time he picked the pocket of an opposing player, I would have a shit ton of nickels. It really is awesome to watch him play.

The Zetterberg line is starting to pick it up, and I love Brunner's desire to shoot the puck. We have a lot of great passers on the team, but some guys (like Filppula) that like to make one last move instead of firing the puck. Brunner has no resevations about firing the puck.

I found myself getting fired up as if it were a playoff game last night, yelling at the TV that they Stars player that high sticked Smith deserved 4 minutes (didnt help that Game Center Live wasnt working properly, POS).

Anyway, looking forward to the rematch against the Blues on Friday. Hoping for some revenge. Good day all.

I am actually glad that they canceled the game, not because I dont want there to be hockey this year, but because I am getting married this summer and wouldnt be able to afford to go this year. I hope that they just reschedule for next season, and maybe then my idol Stevie Y will commit to playing in the alumni game. I know it's a selfish reason, but why not be selfish when I see how selfish these fucking guys are (owners and players alike). I really wish the fans had the balls to stick together and boycott some games so they would see what it's like from the other side. Unfortunately it will never happen.

Anyone as upset with Ian White as I am? I marvel at the way Lidstrom plays, and u can almost see him shit his pants when he realizes that White has now become his shadow on the second goal. Then Lidstrom covers his ass, and white neglects the side he now occupys. That goal was a travesty of epic proportions by Howard and Filppula, but it started with White leaving his position. Not to mention his overall inability to get a puck on net. Sorry for the rant

Yeah, living in Philly I hear a lot about the NHL's conspiracy against the Flyers, so I try not to make excuses when the Wings lose. But damn, that should have been a PP for the boys in red if anything gets called at all. And the Quincey penalty looked a lot worse than it actually was. If both hands arent on the stick, there probably isnt a call there. Oh well, F it. Lets take game 4 in convincing fashion.

Well the Wings did themselves no favors by losing this game. It probably cost them home ice in the first round, as we need Nashville to lose to the Stars who now have nothing to play for. So I ask this question to all of you at NOHS...are the Wings better off losing tomorrow to give Chicago the 5 seed (as I read the tiebreaker rules, I believe the Hawks beat us based on head to head since they would both have 39 Regulation/OT wins). Would you rather meet the Kings and Jonathan Quick or the Preds and Rinne? Both tough matchups, but I think they handle the Kings easier than the Preds. Just a thought. I hate losing to the Hawks, but in this case, it might be worth it.

I can't see Ken Holland trading away a first round pick for a RFA defenseman without the intention of signing him long term. I havent seen much from him that we couldnt have gotten by simply bringing B. Smith into the fold, but that's why I am a teacher and not an NHL GM I guess.

Quinceys hit was no doubt dumb, especially seconds after they tie the game. His first penalty was one of the dumber I have seen. Even though Mickey didn't like the call, I think 99% of the refs would have called that. Still wish Smith was playing. And I have been out of the loop for a few days, so what's up with Ian White?

This will forever be my favorite all time hockey game. Sure the cup clinching games are amazing, but do they ever happen if this epic beat down doesn't happen. As for my favorite part, let's just call it the entire game. Anytime Roy gets beat up or otherwise made into someone's bitch is great by me. Overall though, just the lasting image of the turtle makes me smile.

Would you be in favor of them going to 3 point games throughout? 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for OT/SO win and 1 point for OT/SO loss? I am kinda torn on the issue as well. If they go to the three point game, it gives more incentive to win in regulation, and still the extra incentive to win in OT or SO rather than playing for the tie as it used to be in the old days.

Does anyone know of a way to find out when Pierre the Douche's contract with NBC runs out? I long for the days of Thorne and Clement on ESPN. Pierre ruins every broadcast. I personally liked when Milbury called Pierre out and said the Pens are his favorite team, and Pierre had to admit they were. He makes me sick.

Ok, I went back and looked at the Toews one, and I will agree with you on that, there wasnt much there. For some reason I remember it being more of a hook than a tap, but I will give you that. I still think Kessel was legit. It doesnt matter if you get the shot off. It matters if you are denied a more reasonable scoring chance, which in my opinion, he was.

2 years, 9 months ago on You're Killing Your Father, Larry! | January

I dont understand why people are calling the Kessel penalty shot a bad call, just like the Toews penalty shot last Friday. Both of them were clear of the defensemen, and had their breakaway chance taken away by a hook. I think rather than saying that it was a bad call, lets call them what they were, and that is bad defensive play. Both penalty shots were the right call

Hello all. I love that this is a thread because I have actually been seaching Google the last few days looking for updates. I live outside of Philly, and have only made it out to the Joe once, last year, for the Wings/Flyers game. Walking into the place was one of the best times of my life, being that I have watched so many games on TV that were played in the Joe. Walking the concourse, while small, was awesome, with the statues of the Production Line, and the current players painted onto the pillars.

With that said, there was something lacking with the place. Don't take this the wrong way, but I feel like the production (the music during stoppages and warmups comes to mind) left me wanting more. I know when I go to Flyers games, that sound system is blaring hard rock like Guns N Roses, Metallica, Disturbed etc, and that gets the crowd into it. I feel like the Joe is more "family friendly". Not bashing it, just not my style I guess.

I loved the Joe, and I am looking forward to Feb 10th-13th when a few of my friends (Flyers fans all) and myself come out to see the Wings/Ducks and Wings/Flyers games.

Bertuzzi is by far my least favorite Wing. He is a penalty or turnover waiting to happen. I love that he isn't playing. I would rather see Brunnstrom or Eaves any day of the week. It's pretty bad when Helm and Abdelkader have more of a physical game than Big Bad Bert
