wow.... back (damn...almost 15 yrs ago now... feelign old), when I worked for M&T (at the Center on Main & Chippewa)... once every two weeks I had to run to our document custodian on the 4th floor of the Larkin Building.... I wish this place was around then! Beautiful!

omigosh...I LOVE this. As much as I hate to say it, as I have never been a fan of Alan Pergament, let alone the Buffalo News, but he is 100% spot on in this exchange. Maryalice's first commentary really did make me literally laugh out loud and I honestly thought it sounded like a presentation my 3rd grader would've written (in fairness my 3rd grade daughter IS quite exceptional.... yes, I know, I'm biased).  I really do question Maryalice's superiors for letting her deliver it, let alone her response to Alan's thoughts. What an absolute waste of time on both ends... and all involved should be humilated and embarrassed beyond belief for taking part in the exchange.

To be sure I could experience the exchange in its purest form, I followed the links and watched and read them all in order, without your commentary. In doing so, I couldn't believe Maryalice's response to Alan's first commentary! It was among some of the most self-riteous garbage I'd ever heard.... I was embarrassed for her, honest to God I truly was. I was thinking about her colleagues and peers who'd be listening and imagining what they must be thinking (there is NO WAY it could've been good). Also, I will say it was not until I read Alan's response to Maryalice's response (LOL) that I realized she had not won an emmy.... she really did present the nominations as if they were wins and the picture that was used reinforced that notion. Also, it seemed that Alan's first commentary used Maryalice's first "2 cents" bit as a platform to a bigger topic (it was still insulting, to be sure, as it illustrated her commentary's lack of any real substance), whereas Maryalice's response was much more self-centered for lack of a better term.

For her own sake, I truly hope she (or her handlers) decides to leave this alone and not pursue another response.... but for our own comedic enjoyment, here is to hoping and praying that she does respond! haha...

haha... DAMN... Bucky Gleason, consider yourself OWNED. yeah, that piece he wrote a couple of days ago (or was it yesterday?) made me cringe.... not that I have a very high regard for the Buffalo News in the first place, but I was actually shocked it was published in the manner in which it was.... clearly it was nothing more than an Op-Ed.... presented as an article. what a joke.

In fairness... Darcy had actually done very well with his hands tied during the Golisano era.... peopel forget tha the had ZERO resources during that time. i personally think that he has done pretty well.... my isssue is with Ruff.... we have had the SAME issues under his tutelage... no matter who is on the roster. there is NOTHING Darcy could've done to keep Briere or Drury... people really need to let that shit go.

yeah but both of those guys (Thornton & Kessel) were severe locker-room issues. Vanek is not.... Vanek, by all accounts, has a very positive impact on the team aside fro mmerely on the ice. So I think it holds that it will be MUCH more difficult to get value for Vanek, whereas Boston was essentially getting paid (anything... which amounted to not much in the long term, aside from Tyler Seguin, which even he had some luck involved) to get rid of locker-room cancers.

Problem is, the buy-low sell high philosophy doesnt necessarily translate directly to the NHL... no contender is goign to part with what Vanek is necessarily worth... all we would get is a myriad of draft picks which wouldnt really help us until 3 or 4 years down the road..... are we that far away from contending? i dont think so.

problem is.... such a move would completely let the last remaining gasp of air out of an already deflated fan base.... he's the only one on the ice worth watching. that being said, you bring up valid points.

YEAH....i actually listened to the interview with Jim Rome live and didn't think much about it.... Schopp appears to be reaching here. Like many have said, its not like any schmo off the street could gain 1,000 yards in this league three years in a row, particularly when you have a sub-par QB at the helm.

Schopp strikes me as the type that is in a constant state of "little dick syndrome".... always feeling insecure or inadequate enough to feel the need to show the world that he is as much of a man as the next guy. He thinks of himself as an intellectual, but not allowing other opinions to be heard or not acknowledging them doesnt make your opinion better. sad.  oh well.... that show is our only option for sports talk in the afternoon... so we have to grin and bear it. i am thoroughly convinced they wouldnt survive in a bigger market that could actually field more options...

yeah, this isnt even close... i mean, its not even a discussion.... (B - Vanek from Vanek) runs away with it by a mile. It's the most spectacular goal thta I can remember.

Choice [A] is incredible merely because of Vanek's Superman impression pass. It was SICK. So maybe that can be PASS OF THE YEAR... haha... but GOAL OF THE YEAR is clearly [B]!!!

This guy has been a disaster of a draft pick and is a liability every time he is on the field. He has no ball awareness and is constantly out of position. He only dresses out of absolute necessity and if we had more depth at defensive backfield, he wouldn't be on the roster. I remember reading up on this kid pre-draft and he was ranked as a mid-to-late 1st round pick with a focus on converting him to a safety.... but I think he's proven to be a bust. I have no problem passing on Dalton, as anyone wh ohas actually watched him sees that he hasn't looked too good (AJ Green bails him out nad pads his stats, but without one of the two best WRs in the league he hasn't been too good)... but passing on Kaepernick is inexcusable.

this is honestly embarrassing.... anyone that cares enough to actually block someone on twitter is a joke in my eyes... a few months back some douchebag actually went to the trouble of blocking me and i still laugh about it... i cant remember his name, but he was some dude that obviously didnt like opinions that differed from his. LOL... what a joke.
