@Gini Dietrich You know Sven is just another name for Jon and me, right? ;-) I do google documents with links but my best ideas come at nighttime. So when I'm sleepy, I just email myself (or if I'm not too tired, I'll write it down) and then rummage through the emails later! Sometimes it's messy but being half asleep is one of the easiest tricks to generate ideas when you're stuck.

Say, I'm really intrigued by the "problems visual language presents" and what the visual literacy. I'd like to hear what @rbinhammer means. Will my Deaf side think disagree? Do the slides show it and will there be a transcript afterwards?? I should be able to make it but I'll only be able to respond to the slides!

Now, another equally important question: did you try the stuffed avocado in Austin!? The type with a crispy shell after removing the skin...blew my tastebuds like nobody's business. Yum!

Peggy, thanks for sharing this with us! It's an awesome reminder. I can also totally relate: Recently, my trainer of five months who had to be transferred abruptly and I was distraught! Makes me wonder...I realize businesses have to deal with changes behind the scenes too, but it's so frustrating when they forget customers who have been there for them. Rawr! But I do hope you work with him again. :-)

@ClayMorgan  I like the integrated approach. If someone puts in the effort to build a website or owned platform, it can be done at a reasonable price. But we have to go where customers are - and if we do social well (including the personal touches I like that @ginidietrich recommends - handwritten notes, etc - extend it beyond social media channels) then it'll encourage people to visit the owned platform. Which requires a lot of nuturing too, so they aren't just "visiting" from a shared link and see it's another (and better!) place to hang out.

Howie.....I can never eat my Chobani without thinking of him (which I eat religiously, Howie must have placed a spell on us when he wrote his Chobani lovefest/PSA/PDA blog, which wouldn't be surprising given his ability with words. Ever read Lexicon by Max Barry? I'm pretty sure Howie was his inspiration). But I probably eat it also in hopes of becoming as funny as Howie, and that one day we will share a spoon together when he shows me around his Alien kingdom.

These aren't childhood games, but I absolutely adore them: Ticket to Ride & Star Fluxx. Both are strategic games where you have to keep an eye your opponents but your own strategy is guranteed to change during the game. Keeps you sharp and you have to find your balance between focusing on yourself and not too much on your competitiors, but enough to give you an edge. ;-)

Word of advice: Do not enjoy a hard beverage with Star Fluxx. It gets REALLY tricky. I've been in a game that took a hour and half!

This really spoke to me @ginidietrich

Though as someone who hasn't experienced the coroporate world/a high demand for hours, I already have seen the benefits of exercising, unplugging on the weekends, etc - so I'm already attached to having a good time management schedule.

But yes, there is a problem with society, because seeing how hard some of you work with great success, I wonder how do you determine what's too much work and what's not enough work? Sometimes I feel I should be putting in MORE hours on the computer but it's rough to do.

Nonetheless thanks for setting such a great example for leaders!

Hard to beat @JonD's comment - but this is a wicked good piece! I was reading something in Inc about the unsexy businesses being the new sexy now - and I think customer experience is definitely catching on! I love them all (cracked up at "micro is the new black" but I definitely appreciate how #6 affects both the employees and customers. It'd be pretty difficult for employees to create happy, memorable experiences for customers without truly being invested in the company mission. Attitude is contagious!

Beautiful!!! You have a good head on your shoulders. Took me some time to realize this, but our social media friends - the "true" ones - will always be a tweet, text, skip, or a click away and they won't be mad when we unplug.  As long as we find our way back to each other, it's good right? ;-)

Don't let anyone define balance for you. If it means unwinding with a book, silly television, exercise or working extra one day so you can take a mini adventure the next day, so be it!

Like @RebeccaTodd said. You have the power to create your own adventure. Use Yelp and pick up caffeine if that's what it takes to get you out of the hotel room.

For people who LOVE travel, I think this is really relevant and very tempting to play. But I have to say, it'd be nice to get some kind of reward (a discount of some sort?) for participating. Love they're not pushing the product, but travel - such an enriching experience.

Is it just me or does it seem like the opportunity to travel is being used more frequently by businesses? I've seen Heineken's roulette campaign for spontaneous whims where travelers change their plans last minute by agreeing to play the game and they have to go to the destination outcome. Also, Expedia is giving away a trip daily - you just have to download their app! Maybe it's because of all the millennials? It's sure getting my attention.

Thinking as we're number 1 could limits growth opportunities, then that attitude may trickle down to other levels within the organization....it could keep them motivated or doing just enough. It should involve looking at the brand experience mission and instill a shared attitude among all employees for a consistent experience with some delightful moments!

Why not make a goal to be perceived as for something awesome {insert multiple descriptives} instead of number 1!
