Linklater is great. Love the "Before" franchise and, of course, Dazed and Confused. I really think you'll love Boyhood. Even though I didn't grow up in the era this kid did, it still feels incredibly nostalgic and personal because of all the universal moments we all share growing up, regardless of era, race or background. And it's just a fantastic movie, period. And that's awesome! Was this a film festival or something? What was his answer? That would be a tough one to answer off the top of your head, especially publicly.

Hey, I like nerd movies as much as the next guy, but seriously, this movie will move you. It just feels like real life. You'll feel incredibly nostalgic watching it.
Everyone go see "Boyhood."
For fellow OKCers, it's only playing at AMC Quail Springs. Best movie of the year, hands down. And I've seen 71 movies from 2014. Maybe even the best movie of the past several years.
I'm actually more interested in what Alex Abrines does for Spain than what Serge does.

I hope he doesn't get any negative feedback for this. Personally, I'm glad that we don't have to worry about KD getting injured every single game. And it's gonna be nice for him to be able to finally rest.

Well, I'm not married, but my girlfriend of two years thinks it's a pretty funny story. And she's not offended at all that I speak of it with anguish and woe. She says she would have the same feelings if her eye doctor's stepson was Taylor Kitsch and she blew a chance of dating him. Haha.
@ThunderChick2010 @TempBoy Brandon @Lost Ones
Yes, exactly what TC said, Misti! :)
But really, that's a funny, but also very true, way to look at it. :)
Yeah man, I was so ticked at myself when I realized what I had missed out on.
(Not that I'm not completely happy with my current girlfriend if you happen to ever read this, Misti!)
@[weed wolf faction] @f5alcon @KC_Thunder @L0rv Haha. Perfect punchline. But seriously, she woulda been worth it.
Also, I just did the research because I was semi-traumatized over thinking my sweet, nerdy eye doctor could be "the devil." Thankfully, looks like she's talking about her first stepfather in Tokyo. Her mom married my eye doctor when they moved back to OKC when Olivia Munn was in high school.
"Lisa Olivia Munn was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is of German and Irish descent on her father's side and of Chinese descent on her mother's side (though her mother was born and raised in Vietnam). Her mother, Kim Schmid, fled to Oklahoma after the Vietnam War ended in 1975. After college, she married Winston Munn, Munn's biological father. When Munn was age two, her mother married her second husband, a member of the United States Air Force. Although the family relocated many times, Munn was predominantly raised in Tokyo, Japan,
where the military stationed her stepfather. During this time, she
appeared in a number of local theater productions, and later became a
model within the Japanese fashion industry. Her mother and stepfather divorced and she moved back to Oklahoma, where she attended Putnam City North High School for her junior and senior years"
@[weed wolf faction] @TempBoy Brandon @f5alcon @KC_Thunder @L0rv
WHOA. She must have had another stepfather before Dr. Schmid. There's no way. I gotta investigate this.
Oh, and Munn's biological mom (my optometrist's wife) works there too. She's Asian. So apparently, Munn is half Asian.
@f5alcon @KC_Thunder @L0rv
been going my optometrist for 20 years. So he's seen me grow up and
we've ended up bonding over the years. He "likes" me a lot, for lack of a better
word. About 12 or 13 years ago, he was asking me if I was dating anyone
because he thought I would be a fine young man for his step daughter to
date. Seeing as how my eye doctor is super nerdy and he seemed to be
wanting to pawn off his daughter, I was thinking I would take a pass
because she must not be such a great catch. A few years later, I'm at my
annual appointment and I notice an Olivia Munn signed photo in his
office. I asked how he knew her, and he said, "Oh, Olivia is my step
daughter. I'm so proud of her."
That's a true story, kids. The moral
of the story is, never judge a potential girlfriend by her step father's
nerdiness. Also, I punch myself in the face every single time I see
Olivia Munn in a movie now.
I just spent the last 30 minutes reading this and the corresponding comments. To me, it's not really plagiarism. Actually, I'll quote one of the comments (notice, I'm giving him props, so I'm not plagiarizing the dude haha) because he summed up my thoughts and it'll be easier to copy and paste than to write it out myself.
"I’m sorry, and I understand your passion for Ligotti, but what
Pizzolatto did is not plagiarism. If exact lines of LIgotti’s text had
been duplicated, sure—that would be plagiarism. But what Pizzolatto did
was to take the *ideas* and *diction* and *style* of Ligotti and put
them in Cohle’s mouth. Yes, there are similar phrases, but no direct
plagiarism. It would never stand up in court.
You can’t take *multiple lines* of dialogue and shoehorn them into
*individual* lines from Ligotti and call that plagiarism. It isn’t.

Nah, I didn't feel this way about PJIII or Roberson or Aldrich or Mullens or Huestis, etc. McGary just looks really mature and smart on the court.
I really think McGary could make an impact if he played this year, but I just don't see how that happens with the logjam at the 4 and 5 positions. Which bums me out.
EDIT: This is in reference to the rookie survey poll that I just read, with McGary coming in second in the Most Overlooked category.
I don't care what anyone says, I thought that was a great post, Royce. I agree with it 100%. The injuries to Russ and Serge the last two seasons are so frustrating because there will always be a huge "what if?" in my mind.

I think we are done with the offseason for the most part. Maybe a minor end of the roster move (Thabeet or not Thabeet, that is the question.)
BUT... I wouldn't be shocked if we made a deal at the deadline. Depending on how our starting 2 guard spot shakes out over the season and depending on if it looks like Adams took a leap and can be trusted to handle bigs in the playoffs, then we may move Perk's expiring.
I'd put the KD sweepstakes odds at about--
New York 10%
Everyone else 1%
@Teh Ghost of Lamb
White dude, played for the Boston Red Sox, hit a lot of 3's back in his day, had an incredible head of hair, was the only dude to ever beat Michael Jordan in a game of HORSE.
I don't actually think this is going to happen, mind you. Just trying to keep DT's favorite fantasy alive. :)
Hence Love's wink winking as well. What's the matter of a few million to play with your two bball besties and win championships?
Just a little wink wink handshake between Love, Presti, KD and Russ for future plans.
If KD is gonna be making $30 million a year from Under Armour, then he'll be cool with taking less money so that an extension-less Love will sign in OKC next offseason. ;)
I've been a Dallas Cowboys fan since the days of Tony Dorsett, Danny White, The Manster and Too Tall Jones. And I've said for a few years that the false, unfair narrative that Westbrook has received from the media and general public reminded me of Tony Romo. Two fantastic players whom are underrated, under appreciated and unfairly criticized. Westbrook finally seems to have the respect he deserves after last year. I'm still holding out hope the same will happen with Romo.
If you've ever blamed Romo for the Cowboys' struggles, please watch this two minute video. It's all there.

Have we fantasized yet that the reason Love won't sign an extension with any team he's traded to is because he, KD and Russ have already discussed his coming to OKC in free agency next summer?
Fun question: if McGary entered the draft last season and both he and Adams are available at #12, who does Presti pick?

Am I crazy to think that Reggie, Morrow, Nick and Adams are all very good/elite-level bench players?
So the Cavs need a rim protector, eh? Three team trade!
Those are amazing. DXL, if you're still around, I will forgive you of your welching on the Lamb jersey bet if you buy me one of these.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Durant applauds LeBron’s decision, talks his own
I'm not saying I agree with the narrative at all. I think it's crap. We've been smart and I feel like the media has done a terrible job at acknowledging that overall.
But I do hope that this long-held thought of OKC eventually going into the tax does in fact come to fruition.
One thing I will say.... hopefully this whole notion of "OKC will eventually be willing to go into the tax" will kick in soon. Maybe the offseason next year? That would go a long way, I'm sure, to shutting everyone up who says "KD is gonna leave cause OKC is cheap." That seems to be the #1 go-to reason why people would think he would leave. It would be great to completely close down that narrative.
I just think there will be an outpouring of love. Some of it will probably come off like the needy/insecure girlfriend, but a lot of it will be a genuine "we love you KD" type of thing. I mean, this is the same city that dressed buildings in beards and giant red glasses and that made a return trip from a Finals loss into a celebration parade. It's gonna happen.
I fully expect the people of Oklahoma City to do things like purchase billboards, start social media movements and send flowers, cards and chocolates to KD in the summer of 2016 to keep him here. I'm serious. The passion that OKC has for this team and the love we have for KD will come out in a million ways.
And knowing the kind of person is, it will touch him and make it that much harder to leave. Not even factoring in how good our team will be, the loyalty he already has and how hard it will be to leave Russ/Serge and his teammates.

Fellow Sons of Anarchy fans will get a kick out of this...
Next offseason, Tim Duncan is going to retire, Manu will turn 38 and the Spurs are gonna have to give a lot of money to Kawhi Leonard. That's gonna be nice.
This is honestly just frustrating more than anything.
I think of Bill Simmons as the basketball version of Kevin Smith. Smith was/is a super nerdy movie buff who knows his stuff and it translated into a prominent role in the film industry. But his fanboy opinions come to the surface a lot and hurts some of his credibility when it comes to overall professionalism within the industry. And after peaking with his first few films (Clerks, Mallrats), his career has taken a hit over the years critically.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Monday Bolts – 7.28.14
Manu gets ticked at the Spurs, tears up the letter, tears up his contract, plays at FIBA anyways, loses to Spain cause of Serge Ibaka, whispers in his ear afterwards that he was so impressed with Serge's recovery and heart and spirit last year that he wants to join him and help beat the Spurs, Pau overhears this conversation and wants to join in and demands a trade to OKC, we trot out a starting lineup of Russ/PJIII/KD/Ibaka/Gasol and a bench of Reggie/Manu/Morrow/Nick/Adams and we win the next two titles, causing KD and Russ to resign for less than max contracts, paving the way for an OKC dynasty.
Who's laughing now, San Antonio?! Who's laughing now?

First off, big time props for remembering my specific question in regards to Tibor vs Mirotic.
But it wasn't just my question from the other day. It seems like when things were being discussed as far as the Pau pursuit and people piecing Pleiss in proposing (say that five times fast) trades, that the general thought was that he added little to no trade value. Or maybe my feeling of it is wrong. You could very well be right.
It's funny, on one hand, people are saying that Tibor Pleiss has zero value in trade conversations. Then on the other hand, people act like he's too good to come over to be a third strong center or to only sign for $2.1 million. I mean, if he's good enough to at least be a backup 5 and he's worth upwards of at least $3 million a year, he has to have at least some trade value. Or if he truly has no value, then he should be happy to come over for $2 million a year and be a third string center.
