@ThunderChick2010 I believe this is their first, and he/she has yet to arrive. Mrs DT lamented that fact on twitter last night, since there was a supermoon and everything but it didn't do any magic. Oh the unpredictability of those old wives tales.

Also, I know a good man who is now living part time in Chickasha. According to him, lots and lots and lots of energy related work is coming that way within the next year, could really boom that town for the next 3-5. If you've got rental property, now is not the time to shed it.

@L0rv Mitch might actually work really well in a small ball lineup though. Rebounds well and has enough bulk to bang around in the paint for a few minutes.

I can see it more as his career develops, probably not so much as a rookie.

I wish I was able to catch this article when it was published.

I get the player freedom angle. But it's not just the fans who hang in the balance with an injury. It really sucks for that player's teammates and the work they put in to their careers and their team. Yeah, injuries can happen at any time. You can't plan for injuries. If we banned NBA players from FIBA, they'd get hurt in the offseason doing something stupid.  I don't care about the owners and how much money they have wrapped up in the players - they have insurance, they're billionaires, I don't care.

When you're the pacers and you're in the conversation for a championship, and you lose PG, you're not in that conversation anymore. And you and I both know that PG would rather be in the conversation for an NBA championship than a FIBA championship. His teammates worked hard. His teammates don't have any stake in the FIBA gold. PG did FIBA for himself (his country - eye roll), and his teammates have to pay the price along with him. PG risks his chance at a championship, risks his teammates chance at a championship, risks the fans the chance at a championship (and we are the reason their business exists, we matter), risks some insurance company a few drops in the bucket and his owner some extra cheese from the lack of playoff games. The last two, don't care.

Injuries happen and they can happen at any time for any activity and that's just that. We could talk about playing with fire, and we can talk about increased likelihood of injury due to wear and tear. Can't be proven one way or the other, so that argument cancels out.

Will PG regret his choice to play FIBA? If he never wins a championship, will he consider this year he missed a window that was open for him and his team that his injury closed shut?

Let FIBA be the channel by which some talented player sets his own stage and gets a break and then gets signed by an NBA team who sees his ability demonstrated in that tournament. Games would be competitive at least.

I get the player freedom angle, but just because you're free to do bare knuckle push-ups, doesn't mean it's a good idea or that you're the only one who pays the price for your injury.

I guess from the sound of the introduction that Royce doesn't agree with Tramel's point of view.

But regarding this topic, I do. Always have. Never understood the patriotism angle. Still don't see the reason why we have to sit through the national anthem before domestic sports games. About 42 DT posters wanted to roast me for this during the Olympics, but the nationalism/patriotism/whatever seems contrived, loosely coupled and simplistic to me.

Other than the fact that there are dudes playing legit basketball and I get to watch, I could care less about the games or outcomes of anything other than the NBA. I'd rather KD rest too.

correct?

@sammasaaron Probably right. Seemingly very few people cared that much about 'Bron signing a 2 year deal when compared to the number of folks who bought into his 'coming home' story.

1 month ago on Durant applauds LeBron’s decision, talks his own

Reply

@ThunderMoneyBall LeBron and others are signing really short 2 year deals because they know a new CBA could significantly alter the rules that current contracts are bound by. The players took a big cut last time and in hindsight they regret it, and there is talk that they will be angling for bigger max contracts or at least more freedom with the max contracts they do sign.

Not sure that bird rights will be marginalized in the next CBA, but if they are it makes it easier for max-contract players to leave teams.
