I wanted Memphis because that team struggles to score. And then our defense makes Memphis look like they could regularly score with the SSOL Suns.

Scott Brooks would look like twice the coach he is if Russ and Reggie would play even average PnR defense.

Thinking Youtube has missed it's chance on mashups for toddlers. You can only sing twinkle twinkle little star so many times before you start to find some way to keep yourself from droning into a living toddler toy.

Twinkle twinkle little star

How I wonder what you are!

Up above the world so high

Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it glows

@AIaska  Once Nick retires, Serge will win the DPOY even if he doesn't improve. Nick ruins whatever good on/off court ratings Serge builds up because Nick owns those type of advanced metrics.

I said below, but if Serge even slightly improves in defensive rebounding and perimeter defense, he could win it.

But regardless, everyone needs a narrative. Serge's needs to come the year after Nick retires. No one will be able to refute the narrative AND the on/off court surge from year to year.

@DJ_Yardman I think you'll see Serge more seriously considered for DPOY when he learns how to defend the perimeter. He could also help himself a ton if he'd just focus on defensive rebounding for just 2 seconds now and then. Those two things are the only holes in his game when it comes to defense.

@DJ_Yardman  Lots of good stuff out there from reputable writers summarizing Noah's defensive performance this year. Most impressive is his FG% allowed when guarding wing players one on one and his PnR defense. The raw Synergy stats are impressive.

Not that Synergy stats and the like are the only factor, but Noah has quite the resume this year to back up his DPOY consideration.

@TaoMaas  I was 50/50 on Mavs or Grizzlies. But the Grizz just can't score. They'll hold our points to lower than our average, sure, but even at that I just can't see them scoring enough to win more than 2 games. They don't have the type of ball movement that gives us fits. They don't have enough perimeter scoring to spread the floor which is what we struggle with. They don't draw many fouls on perimeter players so we aren't in danger of KD or Russ having to sit due to foul  trouble. They have no one that will command too much energy from KD to have to guard on D. Their best players can't create an opportunity for themselves with the  ball in their hands, so they're easy targets for a defensive game plan when the game is tight and they need a bucket.

They execute well. They defend well. They don't turn the  ball over or let you get into transition. They're fine with those games where it's hard to keep your composure. They shoot a high percentage and they're  great at dictating the pace of the game.

And if we still play like we've played the last 10 days, we'll lose in 4 games.

But I think we'll take a 2-0 lead and win it at home in 5.

@DVoegeli  There are statistical arguments, even this year. But I think it mostly just comes down to LeBron has played at this level for several seasons, and this is only KD's second at that same level. Also, when LeBron does basketball things, they look more polished and powerful. Open court dunks, bullying drives when he chooses them that result in dunks at the time and not mid-range shots. It's as much about the look of his game as it is the results.
