Very interesting indeed, but what in the wide world of sports is going on with that "conclusion" at the end? First of all, why is it that either "iPhone needs to fire their video production company" OR "the numbers reflect a growing boredom with the Apple brand". Those two notions are not mutually exclusive. Second of all, that's a pretty draconian recommendation considering the lack of details presented in the post. Which commercials are we talking about? The iPhone 5 launched in September of last year, while the Samsung GS4 launched April of this year. So the current iPhone 5 commercials are not touting a newish product, as the Galaxy S4 ones are. Would need to know exactly which commercials are being compared to draw these kinds of conclusions.
What's more, "iPhone" doesn't have a "video production company" to fire. Apple has a global ad agency called TBWA\Chiat\Day who has made every single Apple broadcast advertisement going all the way back to the iconic "1984" commercial. One report of (possibly) discouraging numbers, and you'd have them scrap the collaboration and start anew? Also, I think it's misleading to readers to characterize ads like this one as the product of a "video production company":
This commercial, for example, was directed by Derek Cianfrance, and shot by Matthew Libatique. Good chance Pando's readers have likely heard of some of the other "videos" those two have produced.

This is the best piece of writing I've ever read on this website. I have no opinion about Uber or its business tactics, but perhaps this article will prompt me to form one. Whatever. I'm just happy to have discovered Mr. Mott's work, and look forward to following him from now on.

Sigh. I was sort of hoping Anik would be Goldberg's replacement for the Fox stuff.
Also, they should try having them wear suits.
