Trayvon became a thug when he hid in the bushes or returned to the T intersection of the path rather than going home (or anywhere else).  He had plenty of time to escape yet he chose to stay and fight.  He lost and I'd have done EXACTLY what Zimmerman did under the circumstances.

The actual facts of the case are very simple.  Martin sucker punched Zimmerman breaking his nose and sending him to the ground.  He then mounted Zimmerman and beat him about the head, MMA style, causing injury to the back of the head.  Zimmerman is swallowing blood, is seeing stars, is disoriented, confused and in pain and screaming for help.  Then he hears Martin tell him that he's going to die tonight and feels him go for his gun.  Zimmerman is in fear for his life, he draws his legally carried weapon and fires blindly.

Not guilty by way of self-defense.

Nothing of any value there to which I need to respond.  100% of Zimmerman's actions were legal including the shooting.  If that bunch of women doesn't see that, however, I won't be surprised.

Like Santa Clause, it doesn't exist - you just have this feeling that it exists.  It have no power over you that you don't give it.  Someday, you might figure out how you allow it to control your life as I did.  Wish it hadn't taken so damn long.  I gave up Santa Clause at five - it took another 60 years before I finally figured out that god is in the same category - a figment of my imagination.

It is your imaginary god that is evil - not my soul, dear.

I do my best to limit my comments to the evidence presented.  The judge would have thrown this out of court long ago if she didn't fear for her life - there is no evidence that Zimmerman's actions were illegal.

You just don't get it, do you, Kevin?  Who the aggressor was is not relevant.  Was Zimmerman in fear for his life or great bodily harm when he used deadly force?  ALL evidence points to YES, he was ergo innocent by reason of self defense.

Had Martin gone home, which he had plenty of time to do, he would be alive today.  He failed to protect himself and he paid the price.

Under the conditions at the time, Zimmerman clearly thought that his life was in danger.  Yes, he had the right to use deadly force to protect himself.

Z. could not possibly have started the fight.  Z. was on the phone with the police, with no indication of exertion in his voice, for over two minutes after M. started running away and disappeared.  M. had plenty of time to get home and settle in in front of the TV before that call ended had he chosen to do so.  Instead, he decided to play the knockout game.  .  .and he lost.

Everything you said is either incorrect or irrelevant. . .

"Was it Trayvon who followed someone in his SUV?"  --  Irrelevant.  Zimmerman was doing his job as a Neighborhood Watch member.  No law broken or instruction ignored.

"Was it Trayvon who ignored a dispatcher and was told we don't need you to do that? "  --  Irrelevant.  His words and actions indicate that he broke off his tail. . .otherwise the altercation would have occurred  in a different place and at a different time.  Martin had over 2 minutes to get home before Zimmerman finished his call with the dispatcher - at a slow walk he would have been well beyond the point of the altercation had he continued to follow Martin.

"Was it Trayvon who exited his vehicle to confront someone?"  --  Presumptive, it was clearly not his intent to 'confront someone', and incorrect as indicated above.

"if you're the aggressor and instigate a confrontation you can't claim self defense after the proverbial feces hit the fan."  --  Also incorrect.  Even if you start the fight, if at some point you feel that your life is in danger, the law permits the use of deadly force.

Actually, that is both presumptuous and false.  Presumptuous because you do not know how Zimmerman exited his vehicle (in a confrontational manner) and second because it is not illegal to follow somebody.  Martin should have assuaged his perceived fear by taking his ass home where it belonged - he failed to do so twice.  He'd be alive today had he done so.

That is false.  There has been no testimony that there was a fight for control of the weapon nor did Zimmerman claim such.  Zimmerman said he felt Martin reaching for the gun - nothing more.

Your opinion is noted but is not supported by the facts.  Zimmerman's nose was busted (pain, confusion, watery eyes), he was knocked to the ground (damage to the back of the head indicates that at some point his bell got rung a second time) and he found himself underneath an attacker.  He realized that his attacker had seen his weapon, was reaching for it and he heard his attacker say that he was "going to die tonight".  I would have been in fear for my life at that point and shot my attacker if I could get to my weapon and that's what Zimmerman did.

Had Martin gone home, he would be alive today and that's the bottom line.

DNA is wonderful stuff when it is present - it is mute when absent.  It could have been there and been brushed off or washed off and the absence of DNA cannot be read as conclusive one way or the other.

I'm afraid they're going to find him innocent of murder (of course) but worry about a racial backlash and figure they'll just give him manslaughter not knowing that the sentence could be 30 years to life.  Win the battle but lose the war.  If so, I think there's plenty to go for an appeal. . .so. . .
