Finally, some of the media is beginning to ask "Who leaked the info. to Goodman  -- and why?"  Is the NCAA trying to muddy the waters before they unleash murky findings to justrify their nearly two year investigation?  The NCAA's credibility is surely compromised yet again with such a curious breach (if Goodman's story is true that he got it from an insider).  More so, it's rumored that the NCAA's lead investigator is the kansas grad/bimbo that recently botched the Shabazz Muhammed investigation by blabbing it all on a plane with her boyfriend. hmmmmm. And more so,  that even the "committee" reviewing it all is made up of two: one with a ku graduate degree, the other employed by a KC law firm owned by a jayhawk, Seriously!?!?!  Is anyone investigating this?  Sounds like the target of these bitter ku grads is actually Mizzou and not Haith and Miami.  Very bizarre.

BTW. to even suggest that Mizzou would keep Haith and endure 3 years of recruiting bans is ludicrous, so please stop suggesting that is even in the realm of possibly for consideration by MU.

And for goddsakes stop the SEC learning curve BULL. A perfect storm of bad luck and unfortunate timing (forced to play a hurriedly assembled tough non-conf. schedule and a bettter-than-expected East, for example), sure, but playing and beating SEC teams in football was never a problem of Missouri's before -- in any decade. Mizzou's starting QB was injured BEFORE the season started and on-and (mostly)-off throughout.  The starting RB injured BEFORE the season started, too.  Several other o-line starters injured BEFORE the season started. Nothing to do with the SEC.  Nothing. And once the season started, more injuries mounted and the Tigers' woes were as evident vs. Ga. (4th qrtr), SC, Bama (reeling, playing a frosh QB and in a virtual hurricane...talk about a perfect storm) and the (new) A&M, just as they were vs. ASU, @Central Florida (Tiger wins, but....) and Syracuse. That said, Mizzou finished with the nation's toughest schedule and their opponents were an amazing: 13-1, 12-2, 11-2, 11-2, 11-2, 10-4, 9-4, 8-5, 8-5.  And two those were Mizzou wins!  I still believe that with Mississippi State's powderpuff schedule, the Tigers would have won 7 games -- even with all the injuries.  And with Mizzou's schedule, the Bulldogs would have won 4 games.  Tops.

But, you are right, this is messy and all unnecessarily unpleasant for Mizzou fans especially when hopes were so high.

The reality is the NCAA spent more than a year and big $$$ on this so they are going to claim as much as they can in the report, even if they have no way of backing it up or enforcing it later.  I they do they investigate and then say " say "nothing to the allegation of the bitter convict" then the media would freak.  Regardless of what the NCAA initially says, there is not doubt that lawyers on all sides will then be put into action.  And yet the NCAA could make rulings based on hunches, just like they have many times in the past.  Missouri CAN NOT be punished directly, only slightly indirectly if Haith is "charged".  Even then...it would be about his reputation.

I just couldn't root for Miss. St.  Their schedule was such a sham and it was clear that if they'd had Missouri's schedule, for example, they'd have finished 2-8.  Plus, NWern needed to win a bowl game so they'd finally stop talking about them not winning one since the ice age.

The uniforms are fine. However, if you have black uniforms and your colors are purple and gold or red and white then you've gone too far.  I think it should be an NCAA violation if teams use a primary color that isn;t one of their stated school colors (am 98% kidding; however, at least teams should be called out for it).

(hardly excellent on this one) Jon Solomon fails to understand that "nondescript matchups" such as Mizzou-Kentucky was a sellout at 71k and Mizzou-Vandy had 66k (not a sellout, but still 3k more than the 63K actual SEATS at Faurot Field.  Alas Vandy brought few fans).

The ACC demise rumors are 80% fueled by the Big XII and their reporter lackeys (Dennis Dodd of CBSSportsline, Sm Mellinger & Blair Kerkhoff of the KC Star, Carlton of the Dallas Morning News, Boll from the Austin paper, etc. in their desperate attempts to make the Big XII look attractive , stable and viable for the future.  The ACC footprint is wayyyy better than the "I-35" conference (oh, and then there's Wva.).  The Big XII talks a big game at 10 but they know their only hope for the long-term is to expand and they need FSU or Clemson to break away.  In reality, the ACC footprint has 2x the states, 8x the population and 10x the major media markets than the tumbleweed Big XII.  Sure, this year the Big XII schools all finished 6-6 or 7-5 and are going bowling (except for kanas, of course) but  the OU and UT malaise won;t last., and sooner or later someone there is going to have to play a non-conference opponent with a pulse, and more will have loses.

Don't understand why Petersen would go to Arky.  Absolutely no ties there.  His are all in California.  He wasn't interested in Stanford or UCLA previously. And the Cal job is open now and he supposedly isn't interested in (academic standards evidently scare him).  Boise St. gets a lot of players from California that are either in trouble, need to escape from trouble or have academic issues.  Those recruits are not going to go to Arky.  If this happens, he must be getting Wal-Mart stock, because I don't understand why he'd leave a spot without much pressure and far away for the prying eyes of NCAA investigators or scandal-hungry reporters to one with too much pressure and wayyyyy stiffer competition. And for Arky, it could be a repeat of Dan Hawkins, so buyer beware.   As for Gundy, Boone Pickens must be a mean cuss.  However, one billionaire exuding pressure seems like  nothing compared to thousands of pressuring fans at UT or Arky -- does he really know what he'd be getting into?

Wow. Wish he could have just been demoted back to his old role (allowing him to concentrate on QBs and his...um...surfing, dude). Now, Steckel needs to answer to why our secondary gets torched so much....for 12 yrs. running, especially in the 4th quarter this year vs. Ga. (win that became loss in 4th qrtr), ASU (win...barely...that WAS a blowout), Syracuse (comfy win that turned into a debacle loss)).

@Thern  @BamaWahoo This notion that UNC and Duke are a package deal is pure BS, strictly from the mind of Dick Vitale and Dukie lovers.  UNC is a public school and is more than just basketball.  Duke is an elitist private school filled with students not from Carolina.  Teams are tied due to state government interference (or in the case of UT and OU, they say so).  Virginia helped get Va Tech in the ACC.  Separating UNC from NC State and Virginia Tech from Virginia might be the hardest part.  Perhaps the SEC should grab the easiest ( Va. Tech since they like to jump from conference to conference every dozen or so years) and then go for the Big XII kill by taking OU or even OSU out west.  Again OSU is thought of as tethered to OU but you never know.

UK's football attendance deception is similar to the schools that list tickets sold for basketball games when half of that show up for the non-conference games in December . The troublesome thing is that schools that do this get away with it.  NCAA attendance rankings reflect only what the schools self report, so they can tout fake sellouts and crowd support that is likely overinflated.

Mizzou has had the same troubles all year.  injuries (starting QB and FIVE OL starters (and 2 OL backups) and a sluggish offense.  As mentioned by a previous poster, many of these injuries happened before the season (including QB Franklin's shoulder). Mizzou's issues have been evident versus both the SEC AND the non-conference teams (while MU won vs, ASU and at central Florida -- remarkably two of the SEC's three best non-conference wins -- and lost vs. Vandy and Georgia, frankly, the issues were similar in all games).  Even in the SE la blowout, the offensive was sputtering compared to previous years. Mizzou would be in the same situation vs. Big XII this, perhaps worse since the offense is so hampered with injuries and a WORTHLESS offensive coordinator.

Mizzou is 20-8-1 all-time vs. The current sec teams.16-6 since 1960. 7-2 in bowls. Won 4 in a row since 2005 vs the sec. Those are facts. Moreover "bcs" bowls. That,s a fairly recent term. Mizzou has been to several new year's day bowls, winning orange and sugar (over Florida). Also, mizzou won 40 games from 2007-2010. Was number one in late 2007; finished no. 4. Mizzou will do fine in the sec. Frankly, the fresh scenery will likely make them even better,
