@zipporah @Canola_Q Keyword is SPRUNG. Most men get sprung when they feel like you are a prize to be EARNED. An extreme example is Kanye West's absolute worship of Kim. Another example, Beyonce and Jay Z. Beyonce wasn't having no illegit babies, and Jay Z came correct. Both men view these women as coveted prizes.

@zipporah @Canola_Q Yep. And make no mistake. If a man is SPRUNG on a woman who demands marriage before making babies and shacking up, he WILL accommodate.

@StarStroy Not excluded. Men can get benefits. They just get less or none at all if they live with someone who is working, even if it's barely above the poverty line. And that's the point. I would have never qualified for benefits when I lived with my child's father because he made too much money, which wasn't a lot...AT ALL. His salary was enough to cover the rent and buy gas. We would have had to live deep in the hood to make his salary work for the both of us.

@StarStroy If you follow the history of the modern day welfare system, you'll see that it followed a template for farm aid, with one exception. You had to be married to get benefits. The WOP welfare system mandated the opposite. There's actual data to prove this...I promise I'm not making it up! :-)

@PaoloP When people see how children of two-parent homes are often emotionally superior to the ones raised in single parent homes, and live more successful lives with more wealth, then maybe people will pay attention.

@StarStroy Listen...I was on welfare with my first child. I know how the system works. I had to hide the fact I lived with my child's father for a time, and I also had to hide that I was in college and receiving financial aid. Trust me...

@StarStroy It is true. In order to receive welfare benefits, no man could be present in the home. Social workers would often do unscheduled pop up visits to ensure that no men were living in the home of single mothers.

@jazzyfae45 I agree that this situation is more complex than radical feminism. I think it's part of a trifecta: radical feminism that suggests women need men like fish need bicycles, less social consequences for out-of-wedlock rates and little-to-no effort to get sex on demand, the after affects of the Great Recession

I think the quote from my husband is pretty much the most compelling part of this. These days, there's not a lot of incentive for men to marry. If raising kids in a single household isn't a problem, and living together isn't a problem, and having indiscriminate sex isn't a problem, what compels men to do anything AT ALL?

@Blanc2 "Will your squash still produce fruit if you pluck the blossoms?"

As I mentioned, male blossoms are produced before female blossoms. There's usually more than enough to both fertilize and pluck for the blossom dish.

@giantrafflesia Good question. Early on, a squash will give out male flowers first, so you'll have plenty to prepare for this recipe in the absence of female flowers. But once female flowers begin to appear, you want to make sure you have enough male flowers to pollinate. Most pollination happens in the morning when the flowers open. I just noticed I have a female flower forming and will probably open up by morning, and one or two male flowers. What I might do is hand pollinate the female and then use the male flowers for more of the recipe. That way you can fertilize the flowers and eat the blooms!

@Robin1 Alphas like challenges and often like "thrill" activities. Skiing and snow boarding: YES. These men go with their buddies in packs and it's prime picking for women. I was recently on a ski trip and the place is dripping with testosterone. Rock climbing, hiking, car shows (YEP) all places to meet such men.

@Elegance @Neecy I for one think Carrie was smart. She was really into him, so it wouldn't have been wise for her to have had sex with him. Women get attached much easier. I'm sorry...any way you look at it, saying to a girl, "A lot of women want to be with me" is douchebag behavior. Does that mean he's a monster? No. Just means he's a douche. The good news is, douchebaggery can be cured over time if one is motivated sufficiently.

@Neecy I for one never said he was DBR. What he DID was jerky. If he wasn't into her, why did he try to sleep with her? He KNEW I was going to hold him accountable...I told him so publicly on a video. If he didn't feel sparks, why why try to stick the candle in the wick??? Just leave it alone. I would have respected that.

What was a trigger for me is how Wes behaved, similar to what we bemoan about our so-called IBMS who do the SAME thing...knowing lots of women want them and string a bunch of them along to take advantage. Why would I EVER want the women here to be exposed to that kind of exploitation?!

That's the deadly combo...saying you PREFER black women AND THEN whine you can't find one. No freaking way. We're everywhere, being overlooked everyday. Even my husband said that was bullshit.

@Elegance I'll repeat what I said to @Neecy upthread: I guess you would have to know more of the backstory. Without telling this woman's business...let's just say there were LOTS of sparks. At least, physically. He was DEFINITELY attracted to her. At the...uh...point of no return, Carrie understandably asked what his intentions were if things...were to progress. THAT'S when he came out with the, "I'm not ready for a relationship, a lot of women want me" mess. Men often do that to cover themselves so that after sex with no commitment they can say, "hey; I told you I didn't want a relationship..." So SHE got up and left, and I don't blame her. It was foul. Trust that it is more than BW just being bitter.
