Such a wonderful post Kim. I specifically like 1,3,5, 9. I've spent a lot of time observing and thinking about creativity in an individual - And realized that inherently we are all born creative.. I can say this confidently as the best example is my little daughter and the kids of her age that I see. and they all display the qualities you articulate in this post.. .somewhere in the journey of life, that spark of creativity is subdued / dies .. I think what's important is to re-kindle that spark of creativity in our lives.. and it can make a TRANSFORMATIONAL difference.. and i think a dash of creativity in doing the most boring mundane things in life can make them real fun... also the people who are classified as "creative" are really those who keep that spirit alive well past childhood.. and they usually stand out... Thoroughly enjoyed your post. Thanks for this! - Nischala

This is an excellent post.. I think what's important is to be realistically positive... And life is actually full of positives n negatives.. Looking back I think I learnt more about importance of positivity from the negatives

Beautiful words Sharon. Thanks for sharing
Thanks. Glad you liked it. To be honest, I had a tough time even arriving at 12...
@samfiorella Thanks Sam for choosing to read this post :) And also for choosing to leave a comment... You bring up very thought provoking points.. I still believe that bearing children is a choice made .. The point is that many people don't realize the full implications of the consequence of their choices.... Esp. what being a parent means - Looking back at my post in the context of being a parent, I can say that I have made choices in #1,#2,#3,#5,#7, #8,#9,#11 after I became a mom.. And to be honest, I don't know how they will pan out 30 years from now.. But here's what I do know - I am willing to take complete responsibility for these choices I've made - I believe that's the KEY!

@sharongreenthal Sharon - The minute you make it a priority, your life changes.. Being associated with positive people in the real or virtual world can have a phenomenal impact on your every day.. I also have started consciously working on it.. Time is too precious to lose on negativity...
@JBTWEETNOTHINGS Excellent observation! They are all as fluid as you choose them to be :).. I should add #13 - The choice to CHANGE any of the 12 choices ... And you are so right.. It is about your happiness... Over the years I have come to believe that we are all the CHIEF HAPPINESS OFFICER's OF OUR LIFE :).. Good that your happy - End of day .. that's important
Good to hear this Amy. What struck me was the choice of your word "TRANSFORMED".. And I agree with you that this can actually be a transformational change
@WineEveryday Thanks... I agree with you.. In fact I myself go through this in my head when I am at any cross-roads of life... It brings amazing clarity in perspective.. Just knowing that its your choice can actually be empowering.. Cheers!
Hi - Thanks for stopping by & leaving a comment.. What I've learnt is it does not help to get overwhelmed.. Its your life & your choices .. Have faith in yourself and your choices... The best will happen.. Good Luck

Good to hear that.. Most importantly there will always be something exquisite about the one's which were handed down through the generations - Not sure if its due to legacy or just emotional reasons.. But they will always have a special something to them

@dbvickery Yes which is why my last point is Exit when your time is up - Some are voluntary exists and some are forced exits. Yes! True that self-service is a very accessible and easy alternative - especially with technology & more importantly social media - But the point is sometimes it becomes an issue of time - & Hence many people still go to brokers.. Interestingly I read an article which mentioned about how "Dating Brokers" are becoming extremely relevant and popular - People don't have time to find a date in real life ;)

@amberrisme Yes. Understanding of risks, markets and people is vital ...
@dbvickery Yes! You realize the importance of family time and they are definitely enjoyable moments.. Yeah! Right time to invest in your health, else you can be sure that your wealth will get eroded :)

Great post.. Corporate Innovation is becoming a business necessity. Having been part of Innovation Teams over the past several years the transition that I have seen is "Its cool to innovate" TO "Its good to innovate" TO "The way forward is to innovate" - That's a paradigm shift in customers, organizations and employees... Also, I believe technology, opportunity and access to a wealth of information gives scope for everyone to be an innovator..

Congrats to you and Jennie for 22 years of togetherness... I loved this post...
And real pearls of wisdom ! And all so true, so relevant - irrespective of age, phase of life, culture, gender, location, etc.. - I truly believe this one is a classic and one which I guess all married couples should read periodically.. Sometimes we know all this, but tend to forget applying them in real life.. When you read such posts, you tend to pause and reflect on your own relationships..
I would like to add a few points (1) Communication of expectations - Sometimes we assume the other knows, but in reality it may be a huge assumption (2) Give each other space... & Love, Care and Share :)

@dbvickery. Yes! The approach , involvement and intesity varies based on many variables and the relative priorities one would associate with these variables - What the cause is about?, The scale of impact, How strongy you feel and believe in the cause?, What is the current crying need of the cause?, How many resources you have and are willing to invest (& resources can be time, money, energy, etc etc etc).. For e.g.: I do feel strongly about afforable quality healthcare through dialysis for chronic renal failure and hence would be willing to invest time, energy and financial resources for a larger good - Also this cause needs awareness and has perennial shortage of funds (Its a lifelong treatment and is not afforable to many families in the long term)..
You have to see a 6 month old baby undergoing haemodialysis to do a quick math on the lifelong financial implications of the treatment and also to understand the physical pain of the baby and the kind of emotions that the immediate family goes through... In such cases, empathizing with the pain of others just to help them tide through trying moments can be one way to support a cause - The emotional support (apart from physical support and financial support) is a very important and crucial dimension

@douglaserice I agree.. If you cannot encourage, stay quiet. But don't discourage!!

I also think that one of the most disruptive business issues for 2012 and beyond is the changing profile of world demographics... According to published sources, for the first time in history people aged 65 will soon outnumber children under the age of 5 - And hence, issues like afforable quality health care, retirement planning & social contributions and engaging with this set of population to ensure that their time, energy, wisdom and life learning's can be constructively leveraged for meaningful causes and to create a positive impact will be a crucial issue - One which provides numerous opportunities for businesses in Healthcare, Social Service, Personal Services, Education, etc...

@Julie2884 Julie - As long as you are capturing the topics... that's the first step in the right direction.. Good luck for your blogging
Thank you... Wish such records exist as well :).. I would make it for sure... Do share / forward / tweet
@jodineibeme You should also capture the ideas you get at home.. The good old pen and paper are a big help if you don't have a computer at home.. or are just lazy to logon
Thanks Paul.. Glad that these learnings were helpful...
Thats a good suggestion too
@dbvickery Good to hear this... The key is to not loose on the ideas / topics to blog about.. Simply because in my experience deciding what to write about used to take forever - almost like deciding what to wear or what to cook :).. And once the decision is made, one somehow tends to complete it.. be it a blog, cooking or dessing up
@jodineibeme Comments vary based on the topic of the blog, the content and articulation... Some write to say they learnt, they enjoyed reading, some enrich the content by adding to what I have written, etc etc... So there's all kinds...
Well a lot of comments are based on also the audience that reads your posts.. So you may want to review if your blogs are getting the right readership...
Good to hear that some of these insights helped you.. To be honest, I have published 1000+ posts in about 2 years... And I myself am amazed when I look at the quality and quantity of content.. Guess I generated more in those 2 years than in my entire life.. Good Luck for your blogging
Susan - Guess each one has to identify what works in their personal context,, and it takes some time to figure it out.. And then the sailing gets smooth... Good Luck with your blogging
5 posts in 1 day is a great achievement. Kudos! Do continue blogging ...
@sharongreenthal Thanks for the kind words... Any feedback is always welcome for any blogger :)

Yes.. It is pure true innocent love.. And its most visible in their eyes and their smiles... Its magical
@WineEveryday Thats good to hear.. And I can actually relate to it even now when I think of my equation with my mom
@Steve Birkett Thanks Steve for taking the time to read and leaving a comment. Reading and writing go hand-in-hand for many people... I guess again Reading makes you think, reflect and internalize.. And then writing provides an outlet for your thoughts and ideas... [May be I should follow up this post with one on 12 Most Compelling Reasons to Read :)]..
And the best way to improve your writing skills (as with anything else in life) is to do more of it... I know that I have evolved significantly as a writer in the past few months and one of the key reasons was that I used to write regularly...

@ArunaPeri Thanks Aruna... In my view, the most significant impact any indivudual can have on another is to change the way they think.... So glad that my post did this! Few more posts lined up this month.. Do read, comment, forward....
@DrLizAlexander Thanks for taking the time to read & for the comment.
In my view, writing and publishing are completely de-linked. When, Why and What a writer chooses to publish is a personal choice - Best known and understood by the writer. However, the quality of what you publish will determine the kind of reader base you amass along the way and also your life span as a writer. Also, given the volume of content available (real time and free), the chances are that you may not get a second chance with your readers - be it in books of blogs...
And then again, as a reader - you always have a choice - about which books or blogs you will read.. And also, since readers have information available in terms of online book reviews, you can definitely make a wise decision on what you will read... After all time is one of the most precious assets for everyone these days... Thanks again!
@BruceSallan I agree Bruce.. Writing is a gift endowed on only a selected few.. And it can be a very powerful tool for creating phenomenal impact. If you have the gift and figure out a way to create an impact, you will be certain to make a mark in the world ...
@PegFitzpatrick Thanks Peggy.. Yes! ME time is a big bonus.. especially since we all try to do a zillion other things everyday, & its so easy to let the ME time pass.. And yeah! If you love writing, it will become a part of your daily routine.. For some it may be a fixed time to write and for many it just becomes an activity that they need to do everyday, akin to a habit like brushing your teeth - So in that sence it enforces a daily discipline .... Yep! Few more posts of mine lined up & hopefully you will enjoy reading them
@ThinDifference Thanks a lot.... Feedback is always encouraging for any writter and provides the right catalysts to keep going
@suchimishra Hey there - Good to hear! Good Luck with your writing.. and hopefully this is just the beginning of new discoveries in your journey as a writer...
