So let me guess, nobody in DT remembers that this was they way the Memphis series went our very first series against them? Down 1-2, have to win game 4, yadda yadda yadda?

@cleandoe Of course, we talk about this last night, and first thing I read on BBC Sport this morning is that Scholes is coming back to help Giggs out.

@cleandoe @ou_sas Probably the fact that between the ages of 7 and 18 I didn't talk footy outside my family, and (with one exception - a couple of Arsenal supporting cousins) we're all Scousers. So animosity doesn't really develop that way. And that was also the years Liverpool were sitting mid-table a lot (1992-2003).

@cleandoe @ou_sas Well, and you've got some true legends on the United board too, so it's not like it was Sir Alex alone. Not a fun spot to be in.
Hah! I'll admit I'm somewhat of a rarity among Scouser fans in my rationality when it comes to things like this.
Biggest winner of this weekend in the Everton-Man U match? Wayne Rooney. Everton hated Moyes so much they forgot about him.

@cleandoe @ou_sas That's kind of my thinking. I think Giggs will be able to inspire the United spirit back into being for the remaining three games and win the locker room. Hopefully they keep him on long term as I've seen some suggest. I've seen some words that the United decisionmakers aren't really looking for someone to mesh with the current players; they'll expect the players to get on with it. I know they're professionals and all, but I'm slightly apprehensive that with this 10 month cycle under Moyes, the locker room will start to be distrustful of management unless they get the right guy.
Honestly, sacking a manager always leaves an awful feeling in my stomach. I've hated every single moment I've learned of Liverpool sacking a manager, especially midseason. I understand (and I suppose, were I in that boardroom, would make) the decision, but it still is not a good position to be in.
Much fun as it may be to laugh at a rival's misfortune, I'd much rather be facing United for the title as opposed to Chelsea and City. The title hanging on the fate of the two games in Old Trafford and Anfield... there's something historically awesome about it.
I hope you guys stay the United Course. It's what makes the Man U - Liverpool rivalry so much fun.
@cleandoe @ou_sas He looking pretty good in that last one, you have to admit.

@Jax Raging Bile Duct I have taken to using the OU Chant as a lullaby for toddler_sas. It works pretty well.
@cleandoe I have a feeling that Man U is going to make the wrong move and instead of hiring someone to continue Sir Alex' culture (like giving Giggs or Scholes a chance), they're going to try and spend a lot of money to go after a big name, which may or may not work. This over and above the bad situation that Moyes already is leaving them in with (1) no CL money and (2) a future tied to Rooney. I would have given it to Giggs or Scholes first thing rather than Moyes from the get-go, personally. They should have, by rights, had the sort of continuity of culture that Liverpool enjoyed from Shankley through King Kenny (the first time). Instead, if they go the direction that they're looking at, they're pretty much abandoning everything that made the Northern Clubs great and following the lead of Chealski and City. It'll be a sad day for football if they go the big name direction they're already looking at. I don't think an outside manager will be the fix they want. It would be better to give the reins to Giggs (who, by the way, was with Sir Alex for most of his titles anyway) and let him go with it than to go outside of the club. At the very least, you'd still have the right culture in place, even if you still were 7th this year. Giggs, Scholes, or any of that group have just as much legend status as Sir Alex in their own right, why not give another legend a chance?
If they do go outside the club, as signs are pointing to, I think they'll be in the same position Liverpool were in for a long time: lurking in that 4-9 range. At least for a few years.
Goal for the PL Season: Champions League Qualification.
Accomplished with 3 games to go. Next up: Finishing the season strong and winning the first title since 1990. 24 years of heartbreak might soon be over.
Between the PL results, SKC's domination of Montreal in the MLS, and, of course, last night in OKC, it's been a pretty good sports weekend for me. The Royals' victories over the past little bit have helped too.

@cemitten One thing I noticed: it's possible to pick a weird number for your bonus points. (e.g., The Eastern Conference will go -1 games. Wait, what?)

@ThunderChick2010 @Barry Amenema @beelieve035 @Jax Raging Bile Duct I suppose there is such a thing as "Comment saturation".
@cleandoe @ou_sas What is the world coming to when a Man U fan has to cheer on Chelsea to win the league?

On top of the league. Chelsea and City both have to come to Anfield. I'm starting to believe that this drought could end... #ynwa

LFC 6-3 over Cardiff. Business as usual.

@Sustainable Parameters @ou_sas @International Man of Mystery @PJthe3 bka ... I do remember those jokes, but that was also when we thought he was more of the OKC cut of players than he has since become. (Humble, dedicated to defense (mostly), etc.)
@International Man of Mystery @ou_sas @PJthe3 bka ... The difference is that I didn't expect our 3rd highest scorer to become a non-factor. I expected Fisher not to do much that year.
@International Man of Mystery @PJthe3 bka ... You forgot that James "Who needs Defense" Harden didn't show up that series either.
@duhsweetness @ThunderMoneyBall You can't finish either 11-2 OR 12-3. Do you mean 12-1 or 10-3?
KD at 14445 points in his career. 13 games left x 32.2 ppg = 419 points. That would put him at 14,864 by the end of the year. There are three active players between him and that number, so he may not leap them, but he'd certainly be 140th all time at that point. (NBA & ABA Combined). And with his streak of 25 ppg at 34, that could conceivably put him at 47 games in a row if his streak doesn't break between now and then, which would tie with Oscar Robinson's streak in 63-64. (No data before that point :/ )
Stats purely for the love of stats, and because I'm bored.
Liverpool have only lost once with both Suarez and Sturridge in the lineup. #FYI #YNWA
Pssh, Haikus are so yesterday.

@ThunderChick2010 @ou_sas No, but I saw the end result (both good and bad).
@ThunderChick2010 @ou_sas That said, there is some variation between whether a Haiku is 5-7-5 or 7-7-5. I've seen both versions.
@ThunderChick2010 @ou_sas No, you're right. I was just sluring Afternoon together into 2 syllables instead of 3. :/
