WOW! Although I loved attending BWELA last year, this is a great, smart move for you guys to do it in Vegas - who doesn't like Vegas? - and do it in January in time for CES. I'll be there for sure! xo
Great post! Being from Japan, I'm always going back and forth between Japanese social networks - Mixi- and FB, G+ and Twitter. I am getting more and more inquiries from businesses interested in expanding to Japan, and people in Japan are equally interested in expanding in English culture. It's definitely a big advantage to be able to reach marketplaces in different languages.
JayBaer I'm still having a hard time, but I'm all right. Thanks for asking. Wrote about it today.... http://www.yukaripeerless.ca/2012/01/31/losing-a-parent/
Jay, I've been thinking about you a lot, since I lost my dad few days after you lost Jeff. I remember the first time we ever met - when you came to Victoria for Copeland gig, I asked if you ever get tired of traveling for work, and I still remember how enthusiastically you said "No, I love it!". So I know what you mean by you're hard charger. :) But I congratulate you for making the decision to take care of yourself and indeed the wake-up call is the best gift anyone can give you really.
Great, great post. I was feeling the same way, and you articulated it perfectly for many of us. The one by Jim was the saddest quote about social media. If we can't ask for help when we really need it - what's the point?
Great interview, and yes I did watch the whole thing, which doesn't happen so often in this busy world. And I throughly enjoyed it. Thank you. A friend mentioned Derek's book but I don't know much about him and haven't picked it up yet - would LOVE to get a copy! My regular "day job" business is helping international students, and while it gives me great pleasure helping them, I get great satisfaction from meeting all the cool people on Social Media. Many people think I make a lot of money on social media but - no. I'm on all the social media platforms because I love interacting with all the people online. It would be great if I can make a lot of money socializing online, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet ;) Although I haven't read Derek's book yet I love his philosophy of Hell Yeah test and doing what you really love. That's what I'm doing right now - loving social media and enjoying it.
