@Purple Drank That's what he does with the bases empty. If there's a runner on 3B and less than two out, Slappy pops up.

@ABSmileBunch We can eat a slightly higher percentage of Dre's contract in order for the BJs to include Cecil.

@ABSmileBunch @The Dude Abides I'm thinking Brett Cecil. 53 IP, 12.8 K/9, 4.5 BB/9, 2.70 ERA, 1.37 WHIP.

Who says no? Dee and Ethier to Toronto for Mark Buehrle, who has 1yr/$20m remaining on his contract. Dodgers eat zero of Ethier's 2015 salary, and about 1/3 of his 2016 and 2017 salary.

@Dustin Nosler @The Dude Abides Logan is awesome. A couple big missteps (Adkins instead of Stanton, Reed instead of Gray), but everyone has them and his hands might have been tied on those two missteps.

Our big international signings of 2012 were all Logan. Engle was hired several months after Puig, Urias, and Leon were signed, and Logan had already been following Ryu for years.

@Sugar-Free Generic Grape Soda @mostly exciting potato Ned's most blatant example of overbidding was re-signing Juan Rivera. That was one of the first, if not the very first, signings of the 2011 off season and it set the market for subsequent overpays.

Thinking outside the box, what if Donny had told Haren and Kershaw before Game 3 that Haren was going to pitch the first two or three innings of Game 4, with Clayton entering the game in the 3rd or 4th?

@ tomato @The Dude Abides @BehindOrangeLines Right...I think that theory was BS, but on the other hand, the theory that he was missing location from the stretch would be accurate. Only one of those hits in the 7th ( the first one) was from the windup.

3 weeks ago on So, About Clayton Kershaw And Tipping Pitches…

Reply

@ tomato @BehindOrangeLines Well, the theory was that he was tipping pitches in the stretch, and the 7th inning was the first time all game he'd pitched from the stretch.

What I was curious about last night, was why keep throwing from the stretch with the bases loaded? The first hit of the inning was from the windup, then everything else from the stretch. He was missing location with the stretch, so why not go back to the windup with the bases loaded? But then again, he's Clayton Kershaw and he's won the major league ERA title four consecutive seasons.

I love our 2-0 lead, but I question why anyone other than Dee should be trying to run on Rivera, considering how often that guy throws out our base stealers. We're getting to Despaigne early, so why are we giving SD free outs?

@dodgerfan222 Because the crappy Angels bullpen guys weren't making much money (young, team controlled), and they were either sent down or traded away for other reclamation projects (Frieri for Grilli). Then they brought in some additional better guys by trading some of their top prospects. Our crappy bullpen guys were signed as veteran free agents and can't be sent down, and Ned HATES to cut bait on his signings. So we have Maholm, Wright, and Perez instead of Paco and Yimi/Dominguez.
