@TellMyWifeISaidHello @PagansOedipalComplex Oedipus clearly said Lester on a contract extension, not Lester for two months. The Dude interprets that as no deal unless Lester extends with LA.

Did everyone already see Grant's post that announced the news that Uggla was called up and starting? The caption was pretty great: "This is how the world ends. Not with a bang but a whiffer." Good URL too.

@PagansOedipalComplex @The Dude Abides Start swinging at closer pitches with two strikes, for one thing. He also has improved his former weakness against LHP, slashing .298/.404/.540 in 124 PAs this season. He seems to be the type who adjusts well.

@PagansOedipalComplex @The Dude Abides I don't think it's a huge problem. He's very patient, and apparently looks at a lot of borderline called third strikes that batters would swing at in the old days.

Regarding Joc:

He did hit that bomb the other day off Tommy Milone, who had a 2.6 ERA in his last 10 or 11 starts for Oakland before getting sent to AAA to make room for the two Cubbies. So, there's that.

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @The Dude Abides @Dustin Nosler I'm paraphrasing what our front office said in interviews...probably parsing what they said too. My guess is that we had a board with different prospects of similar talent/potential, and the college prospects were preferred over the high school prospects because they would be more advanced...and that's how Anderson was selected over Harvey, who has all the things Logan looks for (projectability, bloodlines, high school stud).

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @The Dude Abides @Dustin Nosler That was the word coming out around last year's draft, though. College pitcher unless it's a no-doubt decision.

@Dustin Nosler It still bugs me that there seemed to be a mandate for drafting college arms over high school arms in the 2013 draft, and that cost us the great high school arm who was still on the board when we picked Anderson.

@West Coast Ram Apparently Triple A bats haven't soured on him. He still does not have an out pitch. When he was drafted, it was thought that his velocity would increase as his frame filled out, but that didn't happen.

@Omer (beercoozie) I think Donnie sent out Perez instead of League to start the 8th for precisely that reason. I think Donnie wanted to keep Paco and cut bait with Perez, and threw him into the fire in a one-run lead to see what he could do. Bringing League into the game anyway is what convinces me of this...otherwise, why not start the inning with League? Donnie can't be that stupid to think that starting the inning with Perez is the better baseball move, right?

Proposal:  Ian Kennedy to the Dodgers, and Padres get two of Sweeney, Z. Lee, Reed, or Schebler, plus one of Arano, Araujo, or Curletta. Does the deal get done?

Cliff Lee was sitting 88-90 in his minor league rehab starts and 88-90 last night. Didn't throw one FB over 90 in the first three innings. If we go after him, it's going to have to be a waiver deal and only if he's back up to 90-93 like he was before mid-May. I'm off the Cliff Lee train for now.

@DBrim @Purple Drank (2014 MSTY Poster of the Year) The Cards needed to get a player pegged. They've injured two of our guys, then put the icing on the cake by throwing at Hanley's head. Kersh sent a message and didn't injure anyone.

@InsideThePark (West Lake Landfill) (1) That's why it would be an August trade, because potential suitors won't be convinced by rehab performances in July. (2) He was sitting 89-91 in his first rehab start last week. Not sure where he's at now. Haven't heard anything.

@capnsparrow (Actual top vote getter for POY) @The Dude Abides Right, I meant keep him in Chattanooga because ABQ could lower his trade value. If Lee comes back off his rehab ok, I'd rather have him than give up two or three of our top prospects for Price.

@capnsparrow (Actual top vote getter for POY) Keep him in ABQ, no reason to lower his trade value for the August trade with Philly for Cliff Lee (Reed, Z. Lee, Schebler, Sweeney going to Philly).
