@PagansOedipalComplex @DBrim Didn't he rob Dombrowski too?

@Casey the DeliMan @The Dude Abides @Mike Petriello I had been sniffing out their hiding places all day while staying between 70-75. Then on that long straight stretch, I gunned it a little to pass a truck quickly, and boom. Was my first ticket in the last 17 years.

@Mike Petriello @Casey the DeliMan One thing about the 101 from San Jose to Santa Barbara -- the CHP is always present and hiding. You do anything above 75 and you'll probably get nailed for speeding. Even 75 is pushing it a little bit. On the stretch next to the ocean between Refugio and Goleta, I once got nailed doing 80 by a guy who was sitting 100 feet off the highway in a grove of oak trees. I had no chance.

I'm looking forward to our signing of Moncada, then following him as he tears through three levels of the minors next season while Seager tears through two and Barnes lights up AAA, then watching the three rookies start in the infield for the defending WS champions in 2016 :)

The last guy's question regarding Haren, while phrased awkwardly, wasn't all that far off. The way I would have done it was have him go through the order once in Game 4, pitching two or three innings. He remains the announced starter. Then bring in Kershaw to pitch into the 8th, then Kenley for the 9th (or maybe to get the final out of the 8th before he pitches the 9th). Haren was a more reliable two or three inning option at the time than our non-Kenley relievers.

@capnsparrow  @Disgruntled Goat My simple explanation is that the front office guys told Ned they'd let him sign one guy this off-season.

@Casey the DeliMan @Dustin Nosler Minimum $25 million, which would be nearly doubled by the signing penalty. Probably closer to $35m x 2.

@PagansOedipalComplex @The Dude Abides Definitely sign Moncada. It would be amazing to have three rookies start in the team's 2016 infield on opening day as defending WS champions. (I highly doubt they'll start three rookies)

I'm impressed with the Q&A in this DustBag. Regarding our future 2B situation, I wonder what would happen if Barnes went .300/.400/.500 in AAA next season. My guess is he and Sweeney will share time at 2B, while he doubles as the backup catcher. If he shows that he's a better than average defender at 2B and continues to hit in AAA like he hit at AA in 2014, he might make the decision to re-sign Howie a difficult one.

@KMT59 @The Dude Abides @Diane. I heart Matt Kemp like you love yo moms They were playing on the street corner in Chicago or some other Midwestern city when one of the Pretenders (who were in town on tour) discovered them and invited them to play with the Pretenders that night during the show. This was like 30 or 35 years ago. Great way to get a career rolling.

Preller: Hey Andrew, Kemp’s medicals look a little funny.
Friedman: How so?
Preller: Well, he’s got arthritis in both hips.
Friedman: Our doc says that’s just normal wear and tear. He’s 30 and has played CF for years so he’s done a lot of running.
Preller: Well, we’re gonna need you guys to kick in an extra $25 million for this trade to go through.
Friedman: No.
Preller: How about $15 million?
Friedman: No.
Preller: $5 million.
Friedman: No.
Preller: OK, how about you guys pay his salary for each day he goes on the DL because of his hip.
Friedman: No.
Preller: OK, well, we’re all working late tonight, do you think you could reimburse us for Domino’s?
Friedman: Can’t find my wallet.
Preller: OK, I’ll call the league office. Thanks for working wi-

@DKD But it's pretty important in small samples, though. AJ butchered one of Kershaw's strikes to John Jay in the 7th inning of Game 1 and another of his strikes in the 7th inning of Game 4 to Matt Holliday. Both of those pitches would have put those two batters behind in the count if they had been called strikes. Maybe what happened next in those at-bats was contingent on neither batter being behind in the count. Then again maybe not, but I would have liked to have seen what would have happened if those pitches had been called strikes.

@KimballJones1 Kendrick is significantly better than Guerrero at the plate and in the field. McCarthy was one of the best pitchers in the AL last season after the trade.

@DodgersFan @The Dude Abides Yeah, we'll be getting more offense at those two position, barring injury. And Rollins is far more durable than Hanley at SS. But I really, really want Hamels now. It will cushion the blow of losing Mattycakes :(

Run prevention is a thing too. With these moves, we've upgraded defensively at SS, C, 2B, CF, and RF. We also used some of the Bison money to sign McCarthy, and if the Kemp trade nets us Hamels as well as Rollins, our rotation next season will be Kershaw, Greinke, Hamels, Ryu, and McCarthy.

@KimballJones1 I completely understand your sentiments, but if we get Hamels and Rollins out of this, then it increases our odds of winning the WS, which trumps everything else.

@Lobo @The Dude Abides @tsneddy (change is weird) @TellMyWifeISaidHello @WildWilli Righty starters a lot more prevalent than lefties. If it's something like a 110/50 split, then Grandal gets the 110 and AJ the 50. Might as well maximize their hitting.
