@LA_Woman @P_F_P Just wondering if anyone else here experienced an actual small stab of pain when they saw the film Grand Canyon in the theater. Came out in late December 1991 (~6 weeks after the announcement), and the opening scene was a Laker game at the Forum.

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @Mike Petriello @Batted Bob See my post up above. It was allegedly worse than that.

@ThtsaPaddlin @Mike Petriello No, Colletti did. In 2010.
@Iron Brian @Purps the Drank @Mike Petriello @steelmohawk @Sir Catfishin, Esq. @bpamd3 I do give DePo part of the blame for losing Beltre. He trusted Scott Boras too much. When he sent Boras the team's official offer, Boras held onto it without telling Beltre, allegedly because Boras knew Beltre would have other offers, and he wanted the Dodgers to sign JD Drew if they lost Beltre. DePo never called Beltre to let him know the team had made him an offer, and Beltre signed with Seattle without ever knowing at the time. To be fair, this is second hand or third hand, but it makes sense considering that (1) Beltre told Izturis that the team never made him an offer, and (2) DePo said publicly that the Dodgers made a formal offer.
@capnsparrow @Tycho Blue @Live. Breathe. Purple. Drank @VND has signed True story -- during the early part of the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s when it was hitting one country at a time, the Vietnamese finance minister (publicly supporting the country's national currency, the dong), said something like "Our dong is firm."

@The Notorious VND @Iron Brian @JackedNate @Pizza Guy Kings were totally screwed by the refs in the 4th quarter of Game 6. However, IMO they were just making up for that horrendous final minute of officiating that cost the Lakers Game 5, and the entire officiating travesty that was Game 2.

@PagansOedipalComplex @ryus_hadouken Problem is that Young isn't a mediocre glove. He's at the point where he's close to being the worst defensive third baseman in history. He was the third worst defensive player in all of major league baseball last season (out of well over 1,000 players tracked).
@Iron Brian @The Dude Abides @BIah I read it AND saw the movie! Well, not Rommel's book.

@the_real_paul @The Dude Abides @Weston Taylor Anyone who's listened to Steiner call games will figure it out pretty quickly.
@the_real_paul @Weston Taylor This was an enjoyable review. I especially liked this line: "He even hit a ball to the warning track in an extra inning game that momentarily Steinered Yasiel Puig."
@BIah +1 You magnificent bastard
@TheReggieHurley @The Dude Abides Ah ok...I rarely pick up a racket these days but played competitively many years ago.

@TheReggieHurley Passably decent. Why do you ask?
@DBrim @The Dude Abides Because maybe they think they can put lipstick on a League.
3 months, 1 week ago on Joe Smith Had An Offer From Dodgers, Says Joe Smith
@DBrim @The Dude Abides Well, if the Orioles tender him first.
Brandon League for Jim Johnson straight up, no 2014 money sent in either direction, Dodgers pay all but $2m of League's 2015 year, Orioles responsible for any buyout/bonus for 2016. Who says no?
@Mike Petriello @Jobu Brandon League for Jim Johnson straight up, teams can negotiate which direction, if any, the extra dollars go. Sure, that's the only circumstance I'd want Johnson.
