@Leafs2 Isles1 @Yaknowwhat @Potcy Veterans will be available in free agency, which you have space for since rookies are cheap. Also not all prospects will develop at the same speed so not all will be in your line up as rookies at the same time.
If you trade vets, other teams hope these picks are in the 20-30 range, but that is not a sure thing.
Also start with defenders, on average they need more time to develop than forwards.

@vinoa @deedrag @JWaterdrager How do you determine if someone can become better or not? It seems like you do it just by age. Which is complete bullshit if you ask me.

@vinoa @deedrag @JWaterdrager Where did I blame RC for Gards mistakes? Me blaming RC has nothing to do with Gards, but with the team and his lack of answers.
Stop putting words in my mounth, thanks.
I'm not defending him from critism. But telling someone over and over again about his mistakes, but not talking about what causes this, is lunatic.
Sure the team sees his tallent and handed him a good contract, but this doesn't make him a better player.

@FloorHockeyFlopper @JWaterdrager @Alec Brownscombe Yea I know it is short, but the act is caught :p Like I said, not the best example. Should still help you identify it easier next game.
It is pretty common in hockey, Leafs just preferred to fall back more and wait for the opponent to come at them. Like Kadri in this clip, but then all 3 forwards doing that. Not saying Kadri played this wrong btw.

@Alec Brownscombe@FloorHockeyFlopper  I think he was talking about the defensive side, not offensive. Quote was something like "with the interference rule, you can't just stand in a guys way, you have to skate off the puck"

@Mcost61 Not helping matters is the fact the Leafs have the worst zone start percentage (39.8 per cent) in the league, meaning there are a lot more difficult starts to shifts to give out than normal.

A defensive zone start is a difficult start per definition? Nonsense IMO

@Mcost61 “I mean things weren’t working, you know?” Bozak said. “We were too inconsistent as a team. And throughout a long season like this changes are going to be made at times. They’re going to try different combinations to see if it creates a spark or something different.”
Bozak is hoping for some black magic to happen. Carlyle too:
“Those things happen. Hopefully it stimulates some more offence from our group.”

@Burtonboy @Cameron19 @JWaterdrager I thought our 3rd line was meant to do that. Komarov-Santo-Clarkson. Be that hard working defensive line. Best get there top line stuck in there own zone, just make sure they don't touch the puck, no need to create offense. That is the direction we were heading when losing Mac/Grabo/Kuli.
Kadri and Kessel line vs other teams weak offensive lines. 4th line solid defensive game, shuffle in who is needed in situation, offense or defense. Could do this with 11 or 12 forwards. Sit the 12th forward if game is tight and you need something different from that line.

3 days, 19 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Picking up where they left off

@Cameron19 @JWaterdrager @T K O Not really. How much do you think they care in California about the Leafs? I see how this works between rivals, but it seems a bit egocentric to me to think Leafs are that interesting in all parts of the States.
Dallas loses trade to Avalanche -> Furious about losing the trade, and furious about Avalanche winning the trade.
Dallas loses trade Leafs -> Furious about losing the trade, doesn't care about Leafs.
I'm talking about local fans, not fans who maybe live in Canada or so.
If you take your assesment of 1 judgement, and use that for all judgements that GM makes, you should be working on an essambly line where everything is predictable like that. And rightfully those GMs got fired.

@Cameron19 @JWaterdrager @T K O So Darryl Sutter went on to win 2 cups in LA, carreer suicide my ass.(Add whole rant about it, Burke style).
But without joking. Both those trades you talked about were Burke trades. He fleeced them. Sure other teams hesitate to trade with you after that. If you read bad reviews about CompanyA, do you buy their product without hesitation or be more careful than buying from CompanyB without bad reviews? I don't think anyone had a problem with dealing with Toronto when we lost our trades. You can't rip off teams and expect them to come back as happy costumers.

@Cameron19 @JWaterdrager @T K O Maybe, but I wouldn't say no to a fair deal that improves my team just because the other team is in a bad shape. Of course, if you act like a wounded deer voltures are waiting to pick you apart.

3 days, 20 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Picking up where they left off

@Cameron19 @JWaterdrager @T K O But the other GM is not trading for a part of this team, they are trading for a player. I would say a GM could feel more comfortable in a good situation over a bad situation, resulting in being a better salesman and in the end a better return. But I doubt one GM has that much influence on the decision of another GM. Ducks won't listen to the Leafs what they have to tell about the player the Leafs try to trade them. They will make their own assesment. And they won't change the value of the player based on better play in 25 games.

Cameron:
"Plus, this kind of hysteria rarely works in the other direction. When he was amazing the last 25 games or or so last year, did his value shift so that we could use him to get Malkin? No, of course not. So why does a bad 5 games shift it so that we have to start preparing for a shit return? Player value just doesn't work that way"
But add a new coach and it works this way?
