@SandeBarrettBihlmaier Me and my sister in law are a plus size and we fit perfit in the booths. I thought it was more comferable then McDonalds seats

I love the Scramble eggs for breakfast, The hamburger for lunch and the steak, the half chicken for dinner
@KristaKimba @Evilkitty I was on the Southwest Chief. We had a table in front of us that fit 2 DVD players and anything else we wanted to put there. We didn't have a toilet or sink in ours. The bigger bedrooms had the coach but the cost more and for 4 people.The seats got smaller because more people road the trains then back in 1977.Like I said I bring my own wipes. Its safer that way. No one walked through the hall ways at night while we were sleeping. Nothing was open then. The roomettes have the door. And all the coach seats reclined and so did the sleeper cars seats. Never said I close the door on a coach car. Just the sleeper

@KristaKimba I had no problem with the roomettes. Two of of us was able to watch a movie. We both had a DVD player. We both was able to watch movies together. The same one if we wanted to. The seats reclined good enough to take a quick nap. Besides there was plenty for us to do without needing to sleep during the day. Me and my mother in law are over weight and we fit ok in the roomette. In the bigger rooms I didn't like them. The couch was uncomfortable. Didn't bother us people walking past our room all the time. If you don't like the noise close your door. I bring my own wipes for the bathroom. That way didn't have other people touching the ones I use.There is more room in the sleepers then in coach. At least in the sleepers you can lay down to sleep instead of sitting up in coach to sleep. If they start making bigger rooms like you want then the price would probably go up. Would you want that. I wouldn't. If you don't like the prices then do what I do. I got the amtrak credit card and I build up points. Most of my trips are free.
@SpookyFries69 No they can't be locked from the outside. We leave our stuff all the time. No one ever bothers it. No one but the people that has the sleepers are allowed in the sleeper cars. The attendent keeps a pretty goog eye out for people that aren't allowed back there. I left my wallet and other personal items in my room. No mater if your in the sleepers or the coach your stuff is pretty safe.
@SandyBontly I love travelling in a roomette. We just used it 2 weeks ago. In 1 week will be heading home the same way. The roomettes are small but love all the perks you get with it. And the privacy

@SueWilson1 I thought a cruise ship was higher then 1400.00

@robnsam The roomette is small. But I thought there was enough room. Me and my sister in law are a little over weight, we had no problems with the roomette. It is better then coach. There is no room there. I sat in one with the bathroom/shower. I didn't like the long seat they had in it. Was uncomfortable.
I have a trip scheduled for September 12 to October 4, 2014 and March 2 to 18, 2015. Taking the train from Effingham , Il to San Diego, Ca. Be riding in the City of New Orleans roomette, the Southwest Chief roomette. And riding on the Surfliner. Wish the Surfliner had a roomette. I enjoyed my last trip. I will enjoy these two trips two. Can't wait. Amtrak here I come.

@Clatinqt @Evilkitty @angeloflove @RebeccaDunkle yup
@angeloflove @Evilkitty @RebeccaDunkle I sat in one. There is pretty of room when not sleeping. There is even less room on the roomette with the beds down
@RebeccaDunkle I would like to have the one with the toliet and shower but too darn expensive. So have no choice have to get the roomette
@latinqt Sorry I didn't I couldn't help you more. happy Easter to you too

@latinqt We was on the Southwest Chief from Chicago to Los Angeles. I have no ideal how it will be on that route your taking. I know AT&T isn't great in our area.
@latinqt My sister in law had AT&T her internet didn't work on a long stretched and her phone servive wasn't that good.
@latinqt I have Verizon and I loose my signal in a few areas but usually not that bad.
@DebbieLannen I won't miss the stuff. I always brought my own snacks and drinks on the train everytime I rode it. And don't drink coffee. So I'm ok. As long as they don't stop the free meals while using the sleeper cars. I'm good to go.
@angeloflove @Evilkitty yw
@angeloflove If you want to keep getting the free food while using the sleeper cars, I wouldn't complain. That would really be bad if we loose the food. So taking a lose in some stuff is better then loosing it all.
@angeloflove Just on some of the long distance trains. I never use the stuff anyway. I bring my own snacks and drinks.
And the food was very good. There was plenty to eat, it filled me up.

@JoePower @angeloflove @fangedcupcake I loved the roomette
@JoePower @Evilkitty I didn't feel cramped in the sleeper car
@JoePower @Evilkitty @angeloflove @fangedcupcake I will be finding out what the roomette is like March 4th. That will be the first time for me.
1 year, 2 months ago on Roomette with a View (or Two)
@JoePower @angeloflove @fangedcupcake I heard the toilets are smelly in the rooms
@JoePower For on e thing they are too small and i wouldn't want a toilet it the roomettes
@WilliamLong @Evilkitty I hope so. Ty.

@fangedcupcake @Evilkitty ty very much. Sounds good. Can't wait til March 4. That's when my trip is. Next year I should be able to ride free. Planning on taking my mother in law that trip.
@fangedcupcake @Evilkitty Ty very much. I'm sure I can handle the top. My sister in law is a lot bigger then me, so it will be best she use the bottom bunk. What are the seats like in the room. Are they hard or soft?
@Jedling thats seems awful early for breakfast. I don't usually eat breakfast. So I'm not too worry about it. I just snack in the mornings. But there is others who do. I suggest you bring some pop tarts or something to get you til you can go somewhere to get something to eat later.
@WilliamLong I will find out for the first time in March.
@yestracy they usually tell you at some of the stops if there is time to get off for a smoke. Other then that , that is the only way you will know what stopps to can get off for a very short time
1 year, 5 months ago on Roomette with a View (or Two)
@Jedling you are very welcome. Hope you have a wonderful trip>
@Jedling Get on Facebook and click on Amtrak. They have helped me on a lot of my questions. Maybe they can answer your question.
@jpakala @Evilkitty @RobMartin1 I would rather not have a sink and toilet in the room. As long as there is plenty room to sit and sleep, that's all I care.
@RobMartin1, Have you ever use the roomette on the Southwest Chief? just wondered what they were like. I will be sharing with another person
@jpakala @Evilkitty @RobMartin1 I will be on the Southwest Chief .
@RobMartin1 I sure hope I am going to like the roomette. I can't afford the bigger room. i'm using guest rewards points to get the roomette. Thats 40,000 points round trip from Effingham, Il to San Diego, Ca. i can't come up with the 80,000 for the bigger room. I will be travelling this route 1 time a year for 4 years. So the 40,000 is the best I can do. I'm 5'6" and weigh about 200 lbs. My sister-in-law that is coming with me is bigger then me. So hope it will be ok for us.
@ChrisRodriguez2 they are bumpy but not bad. At least you can move around.

@Driver20 @Evilkitty @tampacate I meant the tour on the Amtrak site. That would have showed you how small the rooms are. If you needed a bigger room. The bedroom might be big enough. Not sure. Just seen them on the tour. But the bedroom is more expensive. I have been using my points to get my roomette. I will be taking the Southwest chief and the City of New Orleans
@tampacate That don't make since why they didn't. If they took to roomette tour they would have seen the room is tiny. What did they expect it to be large enough to dance in. If that were to happen they would only have room for 1 roomette per car. At least you can have free food and a place to sleep. . That should make you happy enough. If no on came to fix my bed up then I would do it myself. Kind of like to do it my self anyway , That way I can go to sleep when I'm ready. Some people you can not make happy no mater what you do or say, . Oh well. I'm looking forward to my trip from Effingham, Il to San Diego , Ca. in March. Taking the roomette for the first time. And I bet I will be happy with whatever size it is. Can't wait.
@DanielLilly.....I traveled on the trains leaving San Diego to La. I loved the view there. I was on the Southwest Chief from La to Chicago, but I rode coach. Beautiful scenery. I will be riding in the sleeper my next trip

@KristinRillovick sounds like fun
@SusanHighley hope you enjoy your trip. I will be riding in the sleeper for the first time in March
@tampacate I can't wait for my trip. I going on the southwest Chief. me and my sister-in-law is traveling in the roomette for the first time. So hope I enjoy it like you.

@vernwash2012 @Evilkitty - Ty. I plan on enjoying my trip. I always do. I dread it when the trip is over. I rode coach from San Diego, California to Effingham, Illinois. I did ok. I had my puzzle books, MP3 player and my portable DVD player. I couldn't afford the food on the train then, but I survived. I brought plenty to snack on til I got to the trains stations to get food there. I decided to try the sleeper this time. If I like the sleeper planning on taking my mother in law with me on my next trip. And I can afford the food on the train this trip in March. And I am planning on taking tons of pictures to remember my trip.
@LaurieDuyckCrop It is a lot of fun.
@ChuckFarina love the Southwest chief. Never had the roomette, but still was a nice ride. I going on it in March and trying the roomette this time
@ChuckFarina I wouldn't want the restroom in the room. I rather go down the hall
@GeorgeAndresChota I don't see what the problem is with the train. I always had a great time on the train. People and the attendants were all nice and helpful. I think the ones that seem to be having the problems are expecting way too much. I get better help on the trains then I do at Wal-mart. If they would try to sit back and enjoy the ride they may find out train travel is great
