"Brown could be a good asset if one of the top two backs suffers an injury this season."

With today's news, we're about to find out if you're right. My guess: He will be.

Old habits die hard, right? I'm pretty sure that statement is not from any of the Polians :-)

@DeeLyle Why is it inexcusable? Isn't finding a new coaching staff a more pressing need than talking to Manning? No disrepect to #18, of course

@Nate Dunlevy You're probably right, and my question likely comes from a lack of understanding of how an organization such as the Colts operates. Thinking about it again, I'm sure Irsay knows everything there is to know about Manning's status right now. If Irsay knows, then Grigson knows, thus no need to speak to Manning immediately.

Nate, great stuff as always, but I absolutely hate it whenever you talk about the coming season. Mostly because you've been right about how everything has played out so far. I know change is hard, but knowing that beforehand doesn't make seem to make it any easier right now. For Manning's sake, I hope he'll be able to play, if not in Indianapolis, then somewhere else.

By the way, do we know that Grigson is telling us the truth when he says he hasn't spoken to Manning? It just seems unlikely to me.

@Peyton for President Isn't the point that he is not a reporter but a columnist? He is paid to express his opinions, which is why making the whole thing about himself makes perfect - if infuriating - sense. As Nate has pointed out, he is not a stupid man.

Any hope that media types will begin to catch on to this fact? Or is the temptation of "the narrative" too strong? In any case, I hope you will call out anyone who praises Sean Payton and scolds Mike Smith for going for it - at least if they don't consider the playcalling.

I have NFL Game Pass (I'm from Denmark) and we do have access to a few plays in the All-22 aerial view (called Coaches Film) from games played in previous weeks. This is a screenshot from Rams-Saints, showing a Drew Bress interception: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/228/gamepassall22.jpg/

From that game, there are about 20 plays available. The quality is nowhere near the HD of the broadcast, but at least it's there.

Don't know if any version of this is available in the US (maybe on NFL.com), but at least somebody has a little bit of access to the All-22. Not that it does me much good personally (I'm no football analyst by any means!), just thought you might be interested.

Scary, perhaps. But couldn't he just be trying to get a better deal for the no. 1 pick?
