I'm sure everyone has seen this already, but just in case you haven't - check this waved off goal (and penalty) from Wings/Caps last night:

@thepensblog I look forward to future posts, and duly noted - I'll be more positive in the future. Thanks for the reality check, there. Don't mean to actually shit on you and Adam, much like everyone else from Pittsburgh, I just like to complain. Bad habit that we all have.

Even if the blog does turn into American Gladiator youtube clips (which I'd like to go on the record as saying please don't do this) - we all still apparently love to keep typing in "th" in our URL bar and having it auto-populate to "thepensblog" every morning, so I hope you guys don't call it quits.

@thepensblog You have loyal readers, and if my ad-blocker is correct you've set up 11 to 13 ads, so I'm assuming you're generating SOME kind of a profit, if not just enough for hosting/domain.

There's hundreds of thousands of blogs and bloggers out there who would die to have a couple dozen loyal readers, and I'm not staring at your analytics, but I'd be willing to bet you have a couple thousand people reading (but not commenting).

So, as the years go by and the recaps come across as lazy or in the case of the last recap, just plain hateful... A lot of us (obviously myself included) feel shitty about it. This kind of trope exists in any kind of show or media. If something rules for a while and then the creators supposedly let it crash and burn, the fans get cynical and shitty - but they're still fans of it.

Also, blogs in general are pretty much a dying breed. It's old-hat to  make a whole post about "Dan Bylsma looks like a guy in a tire ad", especially just after Jesse (or anyone) makes a well-thought-out post like this one. I think you guys (Adam and Derek) are funny motherfuckers, and if you can find a way to utilize your comedy while making more thoughtful posts, people would feel more "at home" so to speak, at TPB again.

Sorry for coming across harsh. I do like the posts for the most part, and especially Jesse's contributions, as mentioned.

@thepensblog I comment other places, too :) As mentioned, r/hockey is a great place for discussions that don't get heated. Would have responded sooner, but was on a call, I apologize.

@Non Those kinds of recaps, or posts, give Pens fans a shitty name and are the kind of reason why TPB declined in popularity over the years. Lazy posts :\

For more of an old c-blog feel where you have frequent comments, you can just goto r/hockey during a game. It's much more fair, and you get to talk with both sides of the fanbases, real refreshing. And it's civil.

These informative posts by Jesse are going to spark new, more intelligent discussion, which would be a great niche for TPB to fall into after years of Macho Man gifs

@PenGeno @brendannn They got so jammed up knowing that CFA did something great that they went into turbo-defensive mode.

You know, like a little kid would do if they found out they were wrong.

Annoying yinzer attitude that should stop

@PenGeno @brendannn Imagine, if you will, in 15 years a Calgary Flames blog (if blogs and the Flames still exist) lamenting about Iginla every other post. Even when their team absolutely demolishes their opponent, they write "we won but dont you miss Iginla, guys?"

Imagine how much we would make fun of them.

That's how TPB is writing right now.

@Mr. Confidence Ah, I must have misread this:

"Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta is scheduled to undergo surgery next week to remove a tumor from his neck that could be a low-grade thyroid cancer."

Didn't notice "could be". Let's hope it's not!

FWIW - Even if it is, Thryoid cancer is the "best" kind of cancer to have, pretty much 100% treatable

@PanDotash I was going to ask about this. I remember reading something about ice quality at CONSOL recently, what was it? The puck control last night was atrocious, mostly on the Pens behalf

Not sure why youre preaching to be patient with Johnston. Even when we lose the Pens play an interesting, difficult game. Under Bylsma a win was boring and a loss was nap time.

Also, to be honest (and I've said this a dozen times) CFA is still a great player. He will fuck up once a game, but so will everyone on the ice. Singling a one-time fuckup out and pretending that's how the player plays 100% of the time is lame. Adams is a solid 4th liner who, most of the time, does everything right.
