Thursday night football is about as good an idea as flying two teams to England.
@Kyle Rodriguez @AaronHuston I'm not so sure that a cardboard cut-out of Justin Bieber wouldn't be better than Sergio Brown...
@AaronHuston As much as I hate the Patriots, I do have to give their front office and coaching staff credit for being pretty damn good at evaluating players. They drafted him in the 2nd round, and gave up on him after only two years. That kinda scares me.
@Kyle Rodriguez @mattshedd Thought maybe you had a "replacement" writer.
Penalties allow bad teams to stay in games. Gabbert is not good, but if you give him enough mulligans... well... as they say... even a blind squirrel finds a nut, once in a while.
@mattshedd There are a few places where Minnesota was used instead of Jacksonville.
@Atti46 I believe Bethea is the FS. Zbikowski is the starting SS.
@smonroe They ain't got no alibi...
Unfortunately Colts fans have gotten used to the phrase "Jeff Linkenbach had gotten turned".
Can we get a special "Cosby Kids" fan section where we all wear ugly sweaters and eat Jell-o Pudding Pops during the game?
Like you said, they have 11 days before camp. There is no reason for either side to be in a big hurry, other than to please the media, although, with the PR crapstorm that they started over the whole blackout thing, It might have been a good idea to get the Luck deal done to generate some positive PR. Personally, I am not too worried about it. At least not until day 12.
I don't think Pagano is going to take any crap from anybody, and the Colts do have some veterans in the locker room that can help this kid mature, IF he takes advantage of the opportunity he has been given.
The thing is, for the last 10+ years they haven't had to be good at public relations. They had Peyton F. Manning. They could have stood out front of Lucas Oil and literally spit into the face of every man, woman and child entering the stadium, and they all would have been happy for it because they knew they were going to be witnessing the GOAT make football history. Now, on the heels of a 2-14 season, and after putting lots of fan favorites on the curb like yesterday's garbage, the PR staff needs to be more careful in how they make decisions and release information. I can't decide if it is arrogance or ignorance, but they definitely screwed the pooch on this one.
I watched every minute as well, even that New Orleans atrocity, which was really more of a human rights violation than a football game.
I am not a season ticket holder. Never have been. We are a single income family, and we don't have room in our budget for 2+ tickets to 10 games (2 of them meaningless) plus parking, refreshments and the obligatory trip through the pro-shop.
That doesn't mean that we don't support the team. We buy merchandise AND we pay for that new stadium.
So... according to the Colts brass I'm not a "Paying Customer"?
I, for one, have always found the Chiefs changing the end of the National Anthem to be disrespectful.
We are the land of the free because of the brave, and to omit them so that you can insert the name of your favorite sports team, IMHO, seems like a smack in the face to all the men and women who have made the necessary sacrifices for our country. It could be just me, maybe I'm a bit too sensitive on that.
Secondly, any type of shtick needs to develop naturally, or it won't work. Sure, marketing minds can get together and come up with something they think will work, but utimately it comes down to the fans.
Anybody else still have the "Touchdown Monkey" sticker on their car? Anyone?
I am excited to see how Brown can do this year. He had his best season behind an injury ridden patchwork offensive line, with three seperate, yet equally terrible QBs under center, which would make his season last year look even better. We know the QB play will be better, and all signs are that the O-line will be significantly improved. I know I will be rooting for "Dammit" Donald to improve his game even further, if for no other reason than to prove Brad wrong... again.
If you haven't heard much about Reitz, that actually says a lot about his play.
O-line is one of those positions where the only time you usually get attention is when you screw up.
When I see his name on the depth charts (Taylor, Zane) I know I will be singing to myself... "Tell it to my heart..."
