@couvy @Nate Dunlevy @travismj33 The point is everybody on CA is never wrong. I enjoy statistical analysis a lot but the statistical analysis in Football is much more subjective than an individual sport like baseball. I think the football metrics are getting better every but will never be baseball like. I don't mind the critical comments about the team at all. You can spin football stats to serve your needs.
I think the CA staff wants to have a one dimensional team that won in the regular season but failed in the playoffs. The CA needs to admit when they make a mistake. This Colts team can play in any environment. If the Colts can play like Stanford did against Oregon I would be happy. Kinda worried about the Rams.

@Nate Dunlevy @lucktab derrick thomas 1990, Strahan 2001, he does not merit this at this point in his career. Revis pre-injury was better. Check back in two years

I like JJ Watt too, but the greatest defensive player of a lifetime after two and half seasons. Please two and a half seasons does not make a career.
I'm not buying the stats that indicates that the packers are 1 and the Colts are 3 in run blocking. I never understood the infatuation with 'Pretty in Pink'. ordinary at best in run blocking. The metrics in football are getting better but don't come close to baseball.

@Bobman1 @lucktab As I mention the Colts were a one person team. He has to take responsibility for the those loses. The Colts were more dependent on one person than any other team. All the credit to Rivers for his performance in the playoffs. I will say that the Super Bowl against the Saints was poorly coached. We can all agree that his regular season numbers are great, but fall short in the playoffs. I will be the first to admit that he was asked to much for the team.
11 months, 3 weeks ago on How Would One More Super Bowl Win Change the Legacy of Brady, the Mannings and Others
Sounds like a peyton apologist to me. Blaming the defense for playoff losses is ridiculous. The Colts were built as a one man team so everything is his
Game 1. The defense
stops the dolphins in overtime and the Colts miss a field goal.
Game 2. Peyton had two
chances at the end and did not get it done.
The Colts lost to Billy Volek for goodness sake.
Game 3. Peyton had
three possessions in the 4th quarter and no points. The defense only gave up three points in the
second half prior to overtime.
Game 4. A one
possession game until the ill fated pick 6 by Tracey Porter. You can’t make that throw in the Super Bowl.
Game 5. Only 16
points in the game. Peyton scored 27
points a game during the regular season and allowed 23 a game. The defense did its job. The game was at home also for Peyton.
I would say that Peyton may be greatest regular season quarterback of all time. The defense has probably played better in the
playoffs than the regular season. Peyton
has failed to live up to his regular season numbers
@Payton @silentkman @GregC @Robson2013 Look at the quarterbacks for the teams, Ponder and Locker. Its Quarterback league but he can't throw all of the time. I'll be happy with passing 55% of the time. In Colts Super Bowl its an onside kick and a interception by the great one that lost that game.
1 year ago on BREAKING NEWS: Colts acquire RB Trent Richardson while simultaneously mortgaging future!!!
@GregC @silentkman @Robson2013 IMHO 60% is too much passing. To beat a good team you have to run. In the Super Bowl, The Ravens and the 49'ers ran half of the time.
I don't need you to go over any stats. Seems like some people want a CFL or Arena football league offense.
Lets have a moment of silence for the Cleveland Browns fans. I feel for them.
@Robson2013 @GregC The Colts in the past won 1 Super Bowl with greatest regular season quarterback of all time. I love the direction of this team. last week we threw 62% of the time and lost. Andy Reid was a 60% pass coach and how many Super Bowls did he win?
@vacolts18 Sounds good to me. The Colts will be playing Big Boy Football.
The play calling at end was bad. There was more than enough time to run. Pat Angerer did not show me much today. I'll be interested to see how he was graded. The Colts have no shot next week against the 49ers. I just hope Luck does not get hurt. At least the Colts get to play Jacksonville twice.
1 year ago on Colts Fall Short Against Miami, 24-20
@Nate Dunlevy @silentkman That is so funny about the Oline. ask Ryan Grigson about the Oline. Weedan was sacked 36 times vs Luck 41. Weedan was hit 83 times and Luck 116 last year. The point is at this rate Weedan will be hit 256 times this year. The Colts can't survived if Luck is out. I think the team will be much better than the 2011 team if the doomsday scenario occurs. You guys are expecting too much from a team that has been completely turned over.

any thoughts on moving the US open up a week so that the finals can be played on Labor Day?
1 year ago on Conversation @ http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2013/09/carlsbad-wta-tournament-moves-tokyo-new-haven-wta-event-play/49149/
I'm sorry but the protection of Luck is paramount. Weeden was hit 16 times and sack 6. No quarterback can service that. The question is can the Colts contain the Miami pass rush? I think Wallace is overrated. same score as last week Colts 17-14 I hope. The Colts are still two years away.
Today tennis was better than any other sport. Its too bad that it does not come more often.

I love tennis, but tennis is an second tier sport with no chance to be a major sport. I think 9-9 in the fifth would be appropriate time for a tiebreaker. You can't have matches go on forever.
1 year, 3 months ago on tennis.com - Tiebreak Points: Federer on Fifth-Set Overtime
In today's NFL balance is 56/44 pass/run ratio. I'm OK with that. Any over that is putting luck at too much of risk.
1 year, 7 months ago on Dunlevy: Colts to Run Balanced Offense under Hamilton
@BAFBFP @MagicVilas Nobody is disputing that Serena is one of the all time greats. If both players play their best, Serena should win most of the time. Injuries are a part of any sport. In theory, she should be closer to Graf's GS titles. I don't think she will make it.
1 year, 7 months ago on tennis.com - Doha: Azarenka d. S. Williams
@BAFBFP Cool, but Serena has turned me off after going a 5 foot three woman at the US Open. Vika is not the greatest either. I do respect the playing ability of Serena. She's the Jimmy Connors of her time. I'm still amazed that Venus and Serena are sisters. I hope she does not turn into Micheal Jordan when she reaches old age.
@BAFBFP Listen to Bill Russell discuss injuries. he felt humiliated when somebody tried play injured against him, because he felt they were trying to show him up. It made him play even harder. He actually said if somebody is injured they should not play. Serena should be more like her sister.
Serena has an excuse every times she loses. If she was injured, she should not play, plain and simple. Azarenka was the better player.
I'm sorry if this has already been covered, Luck's final season with Pep he only threw 45% of the time. That was surprising to me. His YPA in college was 8.71, in the pros 6.98. The completion percentage in college was 71%. Pep will be passing the ball more (I hope 56/44 ratio). His receivers at Stanford were average at best.
1 year, 7 months ago on Colts Offseason Notebook: Pep and the West Coast Offense
I'm excited about Pep, I would like to see the Ravens pass to run ratio 56/44 implemented. if you don't have franchise QB you have anything in todays NFL. I do think that the QB has become too important.
@GregCI think Harvin is worth 5-7 million which would double his salary. I can't confimed this but a Viking blog indicated that he droped only one pass last year. NFL.com has T.Y at 5'9"? I thought he was taller.
The thing I like about Grigson is it seems he trying to a Super Bowl not regular season games. The first and second priority is protect Andrew Luck. This should be a no brainer.
1 year, 7 months ago on Should the Colts Trade for Percy Harvin?
@jelewin @Kyle Rodriguez @OllyDawes
I like Harvin because of his versatility. he can return kicks and even play in the backfield on occasion. He has never had a good QB to throw him the ball(played w/Tebow). The price has to be right however.
@Snake3 @DougEngland @smonroeLacey did not play well at all for Lions. The Colts could probably get Kruger for half the price of Revis. I think the Colts can get kruger and a safety for the price of Revis.
Does anybody know why the Special teams coach was not retained? In 2011 the ST's average 22 yards a game (Kickoffs and Punt returns), In 2012 it was 33 years a significant difference.
1 year, 7 months ago on Breaking down the Cap: Defense and Special Teams
@smonroe @aerichner I don't see the attraction of Ed Reed at all. He does does not tackle anymore. The top priorities are to find bodies that will protect Andrew. Andy Levitre may be relatively cheap. from PFF
Stud: Although the star of the unit is Andy Levitre (+17.2), we can’t be the only ones that would like to see him do a little bit more in the run game.
1 year, 8 months ago on Possible Safety Targets in Free Agency: Ed Reed or Others?
Phillips is too injury prone. The giants fans are thinking that he may be franchised. it appears that he still wants to be a starter.
@Payton @silentkmantab @coltsauthority
As usual you are incorrect. Passing wins games, running wins Championships. The Colts are a prime example.

My favorite Colt. The team was always first. Saturday was the personification of class. I wish him nothing but the best with the packers.
2 years, 6 months ago on Thanks for the Memories-Jeff Saturday | March
@Heracleitus @squirrel Do we really know about how How McGlynn will pan out. Look at the following quotes about Jeff Saturday:
Has been a solid college player but may lack size and abilities to stick on the next level
is not a great athlete for an undersized guy
the type of guy you pull for but may struggle to make an NFL team.
The Colts are trying to become a team again. I can be patient. I'm excited about the future.

@18to88 I'll give you Mathis and Angerer. Freeney was ranked 32nd this past year year in DE play and Mathis was 12th which is good. The problem is the Colts DE were built for playing with the lead. They never led.
I never heard the quote " "Yeah, but we are on the rise! Look how good our special teams are!". I would like to see it. The point is the proper way to build a football team is to be decent in all three phases of the game.
The 49'ers were great on Defense and the special teams were in the middle and almost made it to a Super Bowl. Jim harbaugh knows how to build a football team. One of the big reasons the 49'ers did well was because they +28 on turnovers.
What was the cohesive strategy?
The fact is that the change was needed. I really saw it during the Super Bowl lost the to the Saints.
If i'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it. I'm really looking forward to 2012.
2 years, 7 months ago on Drama and Change is Boring | February
@18to88 The team had no talent except at QB and maybe WR. I watch every single game since Dungy arrived. You are dead wrong concerning special teams.
There was no cohesive strategy . The Strategy was Peyton and nothing else. Were you surprised the colts won two games without him? I'm not putting a gun to my head but Cols will a lot better in 2012 than 2011 and will contend for spot in 2013. I'm looking for forward to the future. The glass is half full.
This sounds like I love peyton Manning no matter what article. I'm really excited about the chance to be become a regular football team again. My prediction for last year was 8-8 with the golden child and no playoffs. everybody outside Peyton apologists could see that this was a bad football team. The team had no discernible talent. I heard a quote from MJD that basically said the same thing. How can the defense be any worse than last year? The special teams return/coverage units were an embarrassment to pro football. The team is headed in the right direction. I wish Peyton nothing but the best of luck, but he was saddle with bad football players. Last year was the best time for the Colts to bad with new CBA. I hate to imagine Luck's price without it. I'm more excited about the team than I have been in years. After Luck, I'm hoping far a CB or a DT. This team will be better than last year. I'm ok with five wins for a team moving in the right direction.
@Fondue I think this past year has proven that's it's all Peyton. I think somebody mention that he was worth nine to ten wins. If he that valuable he must take 90% of the blame when they lose.
2 years, 7 months ago on Why the Colts are a 9-10 Playoff Team in the Peyton Manning Era | February
I like Peyton as much as the next guy, but to try to deflected the blame from him is ridiculous. He is the Quarterback. he gets all the accolades when they win, but now it's not his fault. The analysis was interesting. Football is suppose to be a team game but Peyton and the Polians made it a individual game. I guess it's nobody's fault that the Colts lost. The Super Bowl lost to the Saints was a product of horrible coaching and a horrible throw to an injured player. I want the Colts to be come a team again.
did anybody realize that Tony Ugoh is on the Giants roster? Crazy

according to article in AdvancedNFLStats.com on Dec 25 field positon in important. Look what happen to the Colts against San Diego. why did the Giants get rid of their Punter last year? I willing to bet that the Colts lose at least 10 yards or more field postion because of the Special teams.
The punts were the right call by the Giants. Sometimes you have play field postion football. The punting was great by the Giants. To say that special teams is irelevant is laughable. the patriots should have let the giants score sooner. I hate the analogy of 'if they play ten times'. It's Irrelevant. I thought Coughlin managed a better game last night. I'll take Peyton in the regular seasn and Eli in the Post season.
Congrats to the Giants. I'm a Colts fan but Eli is clearly the Post season quarterback in the family. Peyton is still the best regular season quarterback of all time.
2 years, 7 months ago on Patriots LOSE AGAIN!!!! | Articles
@Nate Dunlevy@19>18@Music Man No way was the team better. The secondary this year was one of the worst. The Special teams were abysmal. Freeney had about 20 tackles all year. Compare J-Allen to Freeney. its amazing that Peyton carried a team devoid of talent for so long. if Peyton was on a regular team he may have won 3 or 4 Super Bowls. Everybody outside of Indy thought the Colts were a one man team. They were right. The division will belong to Houston for the next three years. We all need to look forward.
2 years, 8 months ago on One Last Request | Articles
@19>18@Music Man I'm sorry guys with Peyton this team is a 7-8 win team. The team has no talent. I appreciate everything that Peyton has done but its time to end it. The problem is that Polian never game him enough players to win another Super Bowl. The Colts have to move forward. It would be nice to get a decent FA for once. The Colts can't be a one man team anymore.
Ernest.JImm , thank you for the insight. Why do you like the CFL so much.? What about the defenses in the CFL? I tried to watch but I could not get into it. Who was the last Head Coach from the CFL to make the transition to the NFL? I thought it was more than eight teams at one point.
2 years, 8 months ago on Can Pagano Coach? | January
I never said he was coming back. I said IF he comes back. The CFL has only eight teams and six make the playoffs. I remember trestman and i'm not really impress with him via wikipedia. The offense was good and the defense was bad. Sound familiar? The CFL is irrelevant.
I'm sorry but the black cloud has been lifted with Caldwell, Polians and other coaches leaving. The Colts can finally be more than a one man team. If Peyton comes back, the OC is irrelevant. If he does not the OC will be important. what makes Trestman an outside the box offensive mind? I feel very excited about the Colts.
I agree that this list is a joke. Freeney is a one dimensional player.
