Excellent piece. I can't agree more. You were right to use Harry Potter as an example; it could have been an exceptional TV show, but instead became a mediocre, inconsistent movie series.

@Planet of the Deaf @Notsosmartguy approves of female thor @supermoff For me, that was the end of Time of Angels. The end of my fourth episode hooked me on the show forever.

@matthewwesley85 @Jono81 OOT3D wasn't made by EAD3. MM3D would probably be done by Grezzo. The problem isn't too many Zelda games, for me; it's whether those resources could be dedicated to something else. At the moment, I'd prefer something different from that team to another handheld Zelda; that doesn't mean I wouldn't take another handheld Zelda.
I didn't make that clear in my comment, though, And of course, I can't speak for Anonymous' thoughts on the matter.
1 week, 6 days ago on The Possibilities For Zelda On The 3DS
@Anonymous I agree, honestly. I want to see EAD3 tackle a different franchise instead of make another handheld Zelda (though I wouldn't complain if we got one, of course, because Zelda.)
MM3D just needs to frikkin happen already, though.
Fantastic article, and really sums up my thoughts as well. I definitely can't wait to to see season 6.

Awful that this happened to Nintendo so close to the event... but at the same time, my hype has never been higher. Can't wait to get the full reveals! At the very least, Nintendo won't be lacking in awesome things to show, even if they're no longer surprises!

As a few others have said, definitely Okami 3. The novelty of Okami has already been ruined by a sequel, so we may as well have a third that does the thing properly. More stories and adventures in that world would be marvelous, and the Gamepad is a no-brainer. I do hope that if they do this, the actual story is largely unrelated to the others.
2 months, 1 week ago on The Score: If There Were a New 3rd Party Exclusive Unveiled at E3, What Would it Be?
I agree with everything except the individual stories. None were bad, but not many were knockouts, at least for me.
Asylum was was really good, but doesn't make a ton of sense on rewatches. Dinosaurs was... yeesh. Power of Three was great, until the end. Bells felt sporadic. Rings was just boring, until the end speech. Cold War was completely unoriginal and didn't really have any notable moments. Hide had some nice parts and lots of potential, but overall I was let down. Crimson was pretty solid. Nightmare had the amazing fight-for-the-doctor's-brain scenes, but everything else was kind of stupid. Name, Snowmen, Angels, and Mercy were the only episodes I felt were truly great, and fewer than that were AMAZING. It was a better series than most of RTD's, but compared to the consistently fantastic-ness of S4, S5, and to a lesser extent, S6, it was nothing special. Just par for the course Dr Who. Which is great, but not amazing.

@maneauleau Yes, actually! It shows the exact same thing on the Gamepad as it does on the television, so off TV play is a breeze.

Donkey Kong. The TV show was painful, but I think it's a brand with a lot of comedy potential.

@Malohkeh @georgehind137 So why are all my favorite episodes two-parters? It just comes down to being able to flesh out a story more. Longer episodes do the same, though.
4 months ago on Series 8: Episode 3 & 6 Writers & Guest Stars
Silence in the Library, my second favorite episode (counting it as a two-parter). Much of the RTD era's best seems to be on this list, though.
4 months ago on Series 1-7 Face-Off: Episode 8
@Anon I did some research to make sure they were the right definitions, and in an official capacity, they were.
First party studios are completely owned by and are wholly part of a company. For example, Naughty Dog and Sony Japan Studio are both first party for Sony; Retro Studios and Entertainment Analysis and Development are both first party for Nintendo.
Second party are studios that have their games published by a publisher.
Third party are publishers themselves.
I have seen it both ways, though, so I totally get where you're coming from. Ultimately, it's reached a point where there will always be people disagreeing as to what means what.

@Huknar I was, as well. It had its moments, but aside from the ending I was not impressed.

Vampires. I thought there was no way they'd be able to keep the season going to the standards of the Angels 2-parter, but this episode did it. Hilarious, great characters, intense, and great directing to boot. Dalek and Almost People comes close, though.
I love so, so many of these, but Flesh and Stone - aside from seeing the Angels move - is one of my favorite episodes of all time. It sets up the arc in such a brilliant way, and the conclusion is just so epic. Plus, it's intense all the way through. Again, though, quite a few of these are up there with the very best.

@SonicTheHedgehogRules Some of us didn't see the leak, you know. Plus, it was just a generally fantastic episode.
@juegosmajicos I would prefer them do something new as well, no question. But, man! What they're doing with the series is masterful. Oh how I wish to see them expand into two full, equally talented teams.....

Amazing episode. I totally understand why so many were disappointed by it, and I totally agree it should have been a 2-parter, but damn it if this wasn't the perfect way for Matt to go out. Not quite to the level of Day, but incredible nonetheless. 10/10

4/10. Painfully boring almost all the way through, and would be the worst episode of Matt's tenure if it weren't for that glorious speech at the end (which turns out to be pointless anyways). I do see why some like it, though.
5 months ago on Best of Matt Smith: The Rings of Akhaten
@sontaran17 I truly wish I felt the same. I felt that same sense of excitement, but Bells ended up a fairly average episode to me and the following few episodes were my least favorites of Matt's entire run. Ah well. Glad to hear some people enjoyed it so much :)
5 months ago on Best of Matt Smith: The Bells of Saint John
@Anthony Retondo Agreed. 7B started to pick a bit towards the end, but the first few episodes after Bells were really disappointing.
@smashbrolink Obviously we do a TON of indie coverage here, but this series was about Nintendo developed and published games, not about games that appear on their systems. I definitely like the idea of an "Analyzing Indie Studios" series, however!
5 months ago on Analyzing Nintendo’s Studios: Third-Party Collaborations
@Goodtwin Really? I honestly can't disagree with that enough. EVERYTHING is improved from Returns, from level design to challenge to spectacle to music to variety. Far and away my favorite 2D platformer ever. But I suppose I can see where you're coming from, even though I personally would have given it a 9.5+

One of the best episodes of season 7. Yeah, I just said that, haha. Hilarious and brilliant. The villain was forced, but I didn't mind, because I enjoyed the real focus of the story so much: The Doctor and the Ponds changing lives and how much they still care for each other.
