"The most notable feature of the bike that shows its World Cup pedigree is the chainstay / bottom bracket junction."
Really? How about the shoulder buttress arching from the top tube to the seat tube? You give us a photo of "shelfless" BB junction (I've read that description 3 times and still have no idea what this is, by the way), but no mention of the undeniably unusual top tube/seat tube connection? I'm not the most experienced cross racer out there, but I've participated in 2 full cross seasons in the New England/Mid-Atlantic regions and have NEVER seen a "buttressed bike."

I know the article is about the bike, but since the author kind of made it seem like Chabanov went from doing messenger races to riding for Mengoni, I think it's worth mentioning that Chabanov spent at least two seasons racing on the road and off wearing the jersey of two New York City based cycling teams before his season with Mengoni. Chabanov rode for CRCA-Jonathan Adler in 2010 and in 2009 he was a member of the Kissena Cycling Club.
