@jmaldo85 Affleck has shown he's a tremendous talent behind the camera and he was affective in the Town and Argo. He's certainly got the physicality to pull off the role. So I am hopeful that Ben will surprise us, much like Michael Keaton did in 1989.

@ScottJamesBarber funny thing is MOS scored an A- cinemascore which polls the audience reaction to a movie. And imdb rated it favorably. Look what does this mean? Not much. Rt rates critical reaction which isn't often in line with peoples thoughts. Imdb is not the holy grail of movie polling, as Dark Kniight famously was rated greatest movie ever in 08. But there were people that enjoyed it. It is an inaccurate stretch to declare no-one liked it. At a budget of 220 million it still made enough to put it in the black and overseas grosses were huge. If you feel that it was a travesty you are certainly in your right to believe it. But I think the real news story is how the worst Rt film of the year so far still got business from people in Grown-ups 2. On a final note, Superman Returns received a very good Rt score.
Sorry meant to type Keaton.lol
What about Karl Urban who played a masterful Dredd. He has the right physical attributes and can bring a real sense of menace to the dark knight. will Ben Affleck hit it out of the park? Who knows. I guess we should hope for the best; remember when no-one wanted Michael Newton as the first cinematic Batman? Or Daniel Craig as Bond. Now maybe you don't care for either actor, but they both are regarded with great fanfare.
Warner Bros. Announced the sequel at san Diego Comic Con. It's getting big excitement because Batman is going to be in it. Ben Affleck is the new Batman.
@sefy76 I completely respect the feelings you have over Zack Snyder's film. You thought it was a complete failure of the character and his legend. I didn't go that far,but the film felt unsatisfying. There were not enough "Superman" moments; when Perry white holds Jenny Olsen's hand, while cutting to Superman charging up the terraforming machine. That was the one great emotional moment for me. More powerful than the hour of citysmashing by Supes and Zod. Now my dad loved the original. He gets Superman. What he represents..the beacon of hope. He taught me to admire and respect characters of strength and integrety. He was the one who took me to see Donner's film in 77. I remember being enthralled by the music and Mr. Reeves performance. My god. I was watching a man fly. A Superman. He enjoyed MOS. There's no way he "lowered his standards" or doesnt get who Superman is. My dad saw much of what he enjoyed in the older film. Did he feel the fight scenes were excessive? I don't know. He told me that finally we got to see The awesome godlike abilities of the Superman. How frightening and horrible the results would be if he unleashed his wrath on earth. That's why he's interested in a sequel. Will the filmmakers address the aftermath of his actions. Will he have to atone for the wanton destruction of Metropolis. Will we see true hero be formed from his mistakes. And also remember. This is Superman just starting out as a hero. I sometimes felt the older Superman was too comfortable to quick when he became the hero. He becomes superman and he's off saving the world. There should be consequential mistakes on his part in this take of the character. Anyway I hope well get a great second chapter
Ben Affleck announced as Batman for the sequel! Don't know how to take this.

@Brian J Sager you haven't seen a lot of movies if you really have that feeling. Man of steel wasn't great but certainly wasn't the garbage most of these spectacles are. Seen Lone Ranger or the Pirate films or Green Lantern for that matter.h
Its kinda true that reviewers were letting their personal feelings about superman taint reviews; hes such an iconic figure, everyone seems to have an ideal image of him. But look, Zack Snyder offered up an interpretation that is different; too some it is radically changed. However, expert comic book fans will recognize elements borrowed from recent graphic novels. Zod is this viscous and savage in the comics and the battles are epic. Noone seems to realize this is essentially "superman begins" and he is not confident in his choices; he creates destruction trying to prevent it. Some have asked why he didnt take out the terraforming machine in Metropolas and went for the one in the Indian ocean. He had to destroy that device to take out the other.
