Good on Carter for proving most of us wrong.
@ingy56 @Walter_White Well said.
@Shift_Disturber1 @Walter_White I suppose it's all subjective, but the entitlement thing seems real to me. And Phook aparently, which is all the backup I need around here. :)
@TheCanucksnaphook @Walter_White @Mind Bomb So I'm not alone!
@Mind Bomb It was a gradual process. Not unlike Walter. :)
I was born and raised in Canada, but moved to the US for college and ended up staying here, getting married, having kids and eventually becoming an American citizen. Now, in all honesty, there's some inner conflict now as it relates to Olympic hockey.
On the one hand you have team Canada, who I naturally cheer for (obviously) but at the same time have some issue with:
1. Player selection always leaves me somewhat disappointed. Carter, Kunitz, Bouwmeester, Hamhuis, Vlasic, and Smith are just flat out dumb selections, IMO.
2. I dislike Crosby. Not as much as others here, but enough to make it an issue for me. Also, PK Subban (nuf said)
3. It SEEMS like there is a bit of a sense of entitlement with team Canada. I'd love to see Canada win gold, but they really aren't in the least bit entitled to do so. Canada isn't miles ahead of RUS, SWE and USA in terms of talent. We have more depth, yes, but we're not icing 2 teams so it's a moot point.
Then you have team USA, who I've begun to naturally cheer for as well for the following reasons:
1. The Leaf connection (Burke/Wilson/Kessel last time, Kessel/JVR this time).
2. They are a really entertaining team to watch. Fast, skilled, balanced, etc.
3. They are hungry. They seem hungrier than Canada, to be honest. No sense of entitlement either, which is refreshing.
Don't know why I think anyone cares about my inner olympic struggle, but I thought I'd post nonetheless.
@Wilbur That's a good looking top 4...and then Gunnarsson - Franson is a solid bottom pairing too...
Tough call. I like Phil. I think I'd pass ultimately on that deal. Our D is developing, and I'd like to see what we have in Percy, Granberg, Finn, etc before we trade an elite winger to improve the D.

@RememberSalming I think it's looking like Kadri isn't ready for the tougher assignments yet. Which is a bit disappointing but nothing to be too concerned about given his age and talent level.
Nice work Anthony. This and Friedman's 30 Thoughts are my favorite hockey-related reads these days. Agree on running with a Kulemin - Holland - Clarkson line once Bozak gets back. I know there are a lot of Bozak haters out there but I for one am looking forward to having more balance in our top 9. Also, since JVR and Kessel are going to do their thing regardless of who is with them it seems, it will be nice to have a center who's stronger on faceoffs and has more of a defensive disposition.
@Beleafer29 @Walter_White What section are you in?

@Beleafer29 @Walter_White Sounds like our seats are close. I usually get seats at center ice in the Xcel, but decided to switch it up this time. Never sat behind the net before. Hopefully the boys get lots of offensive zone time...
@Beleafer29 @Walter_White Cool. If I can make it out there early I will. Gotta work til 4.
@Beleafer29 I'll be there. I'm in row 12 behind the home nets (one row in front of you I guess?). I got mine for $50! Watch for the Lupul Winter Classic sweater. Go Leafs Go!
@rustynail @Walter_White @Beleafer29 Gotcha.
@dlb eh @Mind Bomb @Walter_White Yeah, bitch!
Any other MN peeps going to the game tonight? I scored tix behind the home net 12 rows up. Can't wait to rock my new Lupul Winter Classic sweater. Pumped!
Wow. VERY solid interview, Alec.
I thought it was very interesting to hear Cronin say that from his perspective the Leafs were not out-possessed last season...plus his emphasis on "quality possessions". Sounds like an affirmation of what many MLHSers suspected was the strategy behind the bench.

@Troy One big difference is that Bernier will be a LOT more sheltered in RC's system than Toskala ever was. If we were still playing run n gun and leaving the goalies out to dry night in and night out I'd probably be much more concerned about Bernier.

@quintensmids @Walter_White That mentally challenged coach got us to the playoffs for the 1st time in 8 years and within minutes of one of the biggest upsets in franchise history.
