@djamon I think there is a chance that Eichel slides depending on the results of the draft lottery.  If Arizona keeps the second pick they could covet Marner over Eichel with the Domi connection.  They could hide under the cover of Eichel and surprise everyone on the podium.

I actually burst out laughing twice on that play.  First when everyone skated offside after Phaneuf passed outside the blueline and again when Rielly shot it in offside out of frustration.

@Hollandaise  @Mitch92 @Yaknowwhat Yes, he is getting forced to shoot early or from the outside because every D knows what his 'go to' move is.  I am not really worried about Kessel.  I think he will come around by next season.

@Yaknowwhat I swear that Kessel has been shooting from outside of his regular scoring zone all year.  That time he went far right before shooting.

@sniperstar I think it matters very little.  I see it as Marner's production went up when he had more responsibility.  It is one of those intangibles that all great players have.  The best instruction a coach can give a great player during the heat of battle is,"Go out there and win us this game"!  Regular players respond well to specific instructions.  Greats just need to be given permission to do their thing!

@deedrag @DeclanK @Ian from Etobicoke @Cameron19 Rielly would do well to model his game after Ryan Ellis.  Ellis is a skater who is good at ragging the puck and creating time and space for his teammates.  Big point producer.

@Yaknowwhat Great players play hard all over the ice.  Not just when the puck is on their stick.  Great players work harder and smarter to regain the puck if they don't have it or lose it.  Kessel's value is half that of a great player.  Having said that, I think it is completely feasible that we see a totally different Phil Kessel next season, after a summer of reflection and hard work, especially if we win the draft lottery.  I don't expect Phil to skate all summer.  I expect him to work hard to reduce his body fat percentage and come back to camp in top shape ready to revive his career after an atrocious year.  He has to get his hands out of the cookie jar!

London Knights win 8-6 over Saganaw Spirit.  Mitchell Marner finishes with two apples on the night and 126 points on the season.  Connor McDavid has his work cut out for him in two games this weekend.  He presently has 118 points.  I wouldn't bet against him catching Marner.  He has to pass his teammate Dylan Strome first.

@Jay31 @North Kariya Malkin also has a Hart trophy and I think this season may be Tavares's last chance to win one before McDavid takes over the title, but if Price does not win it this season then there is NO justice!

@North Kariya Malkin is the better player based on full resume.  Tavares may pass him in five years but I doubt he matches the hardware that Malkin has achieved thus far in his career because the competition coming is going to make us all forget about Tavares AND Malkin.
