@barjv01 The future is McDavid, Brown and Nylander, not Subban or Stamkos. Real players know the deal and won't come here to play. They have to be drafted or otherwise acquired.

@LeafsGuru Leivo is this years Frattin.
@BlueSmoke @LeafsGuru Connor Brown will eventually captain the Leafs but they would be best advised to keep him away from the shitshow that this season promises to be and let him develop a man's body in the AHL.
@StanSmith @Jordan29 Only way Gardiner gets more than Franson is if he sells a year or two of UFA. Ain't gonna happen!
@Mind Bomb @Mitch92 I will say this. I smell a blockbuster and am looking forward to it!
@Mind Bomb Yep, pretty sure this Winnick signing has me convinced to jump on the bandwagon again. NOT!
@Xxxxxnew The important stat is the number of goalies they go through in a decade. I lost count in the 80's!

1 month, 1 week ago on Leafs sign David Booth to a 1-year, $1.1 million contract
@Great Dane @Mitch92 I believe that is the plan and if we do not get the first pick it will cost us heavily to acquire him.
1 month, 1 week ago on Poulin, Loiselle Fired as Assistant GMs; Leafs bring in Kyle Dubas
@Chris Jay @Mitch92 I have finally lost my optimism after almost 40 years of devoted fandom. I suggested that today's firings were a result of a leak to the players of "THE MCDAVID PLAN" which resulted in the players quitting on management. Why help them put money in their pockets when massive changes are afoot?
@Great Dane @Cameron19 They will keep him all season. He is being retained to lead us to the bottom this year. They will only fire him if he wins too much!
@Chris Jay @Mitch92 OK, that explains why my post got deleted!
Is there a rule here forbidding any discussion of the Leafs tanking this year in an attempt to draft Connor McDavid? Just wondering? Thanks
Gord Stellick must be laughing his ass off right about now!
1 month, 1 week ago on The pros and cons of trading Cody Franson
@drummond @Mitch92 two arbitration awards in two years kind of replace the so-called bridge contract, don't you think?
1 month, 2 weeks ago on The Cody Franson Arbitration: What is he Worth?
@Savo43 I remember! That is why I want the Leafs to move Cody to Colorado where I can enjoy watching him flourish in a winning environment.
@drummond @Mitch92 I think you would have an unhappy player on your hands if that were the case!
@drummond I would not want him for less than that!
@Loric76 @ingy56 What other team would lowball their second rated dman who leads the D in points each year? Clearly the Leafs are done with Franson and need to move him before he becomes too much of a distraction!
As long as we are discussing the Leafs D, has Phaneuf been traded yet? The race toward the bottom is on!
@MaxwellHowe @Mitch92 Don't worry! I will be back in a couple of years once the Connors are in the fold, leading the charge to glory!
@MaxwellHowe @Mitch92 That's what I am saying!
@ingy56 @Komas Taberle @Mitch92 So he can destroy the Leafs everytime he plays them?
@MaxwellHowe @Mitch92 Can't trade me. I was a UFA this summer and I decided to take my fandom where it will be appreciated.
@Komas Taberle @Mitch92 As good as O'Reilly might become, he is exactly the type of player the Leafs avoid. Leafs do not want players that overshadow the team or management.
Cody Franson became my favorite Leafs two seasons ago when he finished the season strong and then exploded against the Bruins in the play-offs. I hope he gets traded to Colorado so I can continue to enjoy his play while the Leafs attempt a partial rebuild AGAIN! The Leafs certainly do not deserve his services.
@peterbleafs @B_Leaf I am left handed and I shoot right!
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Prospect Camp Pressers: Brendan Shanahan, Jim Hughes
@TheCanucksnaphook I am with you! This team is heading to the bottom fast in search of Connor McDavid and anyone who refuses to see that is in denial. Let's see, they kept Carlyle, are trying to trade Phaneuf, accepted second or third choices on ALL of their signings or trades, have basically run James Reimer out of town along with Cody Franson and their biggest Free Agent signing was a thirty seven year old dman coming off his second broken leg in recent years. Yes they brought Komorov back but they were forced to overpay for his services. On top of that, I don't understand why they did not make the JVR deal to get Eckblad this year. Yes I like JVR but we need a franchise dman to replace Dion moving forward. All keeping JVR does at this point is ensure we finish outside of a lottery position!

The Colorado Avalanche can thank Tim Leiweke, Brendan Shanahan and Dave Nonis for their newest devoted fan. ME!!!!! So done with this disfunctional organization!
3 months, 3 weeks ago on Maple Leafs Extend Randy Carlyle for 2 years, Fire Assistants
@ingy56 @Bon Scott was a Leaf fan What does that make Eck then?
3 months, 4 weeks ago on Decision on Randy Carlyle coming soon
@Great Dane Yeah, winning!
@Cameron19 @Mitch92 @loomx True, that is a big difference but so is the new cap world with ever increasing revenue with the ridiculous amount of outdoor games and such spectacles to sell the game.
4 months ago on All Of Phil Kessel’s 37 Goals – 2013/2014
@Cameron19 @whalz Probably banking on a continually increasing salary cap and a desire by the group of players to stay together. This is the kind of culture we need to foster if we ever hope to reach glory.
@Cameron19 @loomx The Avs build is similar to the Blawkhawks. Stastny is going nowhere. He is their Patrick Sharp.
@Jay_Berg Sounded plausible last year with the two shiny new... er rusty old Dave's joining the fray!
@loomx I think Nonis believes the collapse was orchestrated by the players as a response to something they discovered that didn't meet their approval. Think about how much revenue the team lost because they missed the play-offs. Didn't hurt the players one bit!
I also think Nonis fully supports Carlyle. I believe upper management knows which players were responsible for the collapse and is going to act to eradicate them. The problem is that getting rid of the problem players will not get rid of the problem with the culture. In fact it will create fear and animosity between the players and management. To truly change the culture, management has to fix the problem, not dispose of it. Only then, will we become a choice destination for players who want to win.

@Uncle Otis @Mitch92 @NotTheCanucksnaphook Just saying that situations can be manipulated if the right force is applied.
@MaxwellHowe Later on, after Gretzky proved himself capable, Ballard tried to orchestrate the coup of the century by trading the whole Leaf team for the whole Oiler team. The old cook had the right idea!
@NotTheCanucksnaphook @Mitch92 Remember what Burke did to draft the sisters together? Surely the wealthiest team in the league can find a way to make this happen!
@NotTheCanucksnaphook @Mitch92 If that's what it takes!
@Uncle Otis @Mitch92 Who knows? Maybe Shanny has the right dirt and that is why he was hired!
@Uncle Otis @Mitch92 Everyone has a price and the Leafs have the resources! Make it happen!!!
@Uncle Otis This draft doesn't matter. We need to position ourselves to acquire the rights to Connor McDavid next year. Don't waste assets that could be used toward that end, this year!!
The Leafs need to get focused on Connor McDavid. With Connor Brown already in the fold we could solidify our core for the next decade and move to elite status. The management team needs to develop multiple strategies to make this happen!!! Adding pieces to the present core demonstrated clearly that the core is not up to the task. Time to improve the core.
@LeafFan15 The sad thing is that Bernier will be a casualty of the pathetic state of affairs in Leafland much like Toskala was a couple of years ago. Until the Leafs instill a defensive system that supports it's goaltenders we will continue to use goalies up and replace them every couple of years. We may have our Doughty in Gardiner or Reilly but we still need that 1C to take us to the next level.
Bolland won't consider signing here if his injury is used as a reason to drive down his price and why should he. His injury was a fluke and he will not want to be punished for it by the team who he was playing for when it happened. Things just don't work that way! I think Komarov would be a worthy contributor to this team. Gardiner needs to be kept long term and groomed for the top pairing sooner rather than later. Kuly is an interesting situation. I think he resigns at a reasonable number but could be moved as part of a package due to his size and versatility. I personally want Franson to resign at a fair price and see if he can return to form. I know many will disagree with this but unless a deal materializes to bring in a replacement for Phaneuf we won't get much return at this time. Riemer put up great numbers to start the season but tailed off as he fell out of favour with RC. The poor handling of the Riemer situation is on Nonis. How many times have Leaf fans had to endure this kind of torture? As soon as you decide to replace your number one guy you HAVE TO cut bait! Dragging Riems along all season making him think he had a chance to win back the job was a chickenshit way to handle him and it ultimately cost the team a playoff berth. Riems will not be back unless he is willing to accept a backup role. Time for a fresh start.
