I agree Burke has more to work with in Calgary. But I doubt he trades two firsts and a second any time soon.

Burke rushed the rebuild here. Now he's changed his strategy and is doing it right in Calgary.

its easier to get a direct flight to T-Bay from Toronto. I doubt there are any direct flights from Charleston to T-Bay :)

The ACC was the loudest building Lupul ever played in during the 2013 playoffs.
If the players play well in meaningful games, the cheering follows.
NYR fans are loud and intense and they also boo their team off the ice when they play poorly. That didn't stop them from going to the SCF last year.

My guess is Phaneuf and/or Kessel. They seemed to be organizing the players during the "non-salute".

I think Jonas' point was he has been cutting Kessel slack and so has the entire T.O. media... but he's fed up with continuing to do so. Now he'll be more candid.

or you give me 22 players that do their jobs. Kessel failed to do his job and got called on it.

Reporters protect their own, too. Do you guys remember what happened to Ron Wilson?
Kessel should have been polite. Why fight the media if you don't have to?

mmmm he's in his formative years and learning the pro game. As for great, I never said he's going to be great.

Pittsburg can grind out a win without Malking and Crosby.
"mediocre teams are inconsistent"
Great point. I'm trying not to get down on Leafs for one loss but.... they need to develop a system and bring in players that can provide more consistency night-to-night. I know last night was the third game in four nights but... if they played a smarter more patient game it was an easy win.
Toronto has a reputation for overvaluing its own players... a well-deserved reputation
I worry about Reilly for that reason. Phaneuf and Kessel aren't ideal role models to say the least.
I think we lack reliable and consistent hockey players. You're right, a center would be help a lot, but there's more. We lack depth and skill at all positions.
If Kessel isn't scoring, we lose.
If Phaneuf isn't playing his best, we lose.
I think you overrate our players. I also happen to think those three are particularly dumb with low hockey IQ. Phaneuf is inconsistent and we rely on him too much. Reilly is learning as is Percy. Polak is being relied on too much.
No, I think honestly, the Leafs D is mediocre. We do not have even one "goto" d-pairing. Its always in flux.
Bernier was 25 years and is now 26. The training wheels are off.
We still have Phaneuf, Franson and Gardiner on D
"RC over-used Bernier and it led to his injury."
We can never prove that.
@T K O
I fell out of love with Reimer last year. He didn't look sharp in relief and then he got all whiny about "being a #1". Fuck off and earn it, dude. There's not one team in this league that would make him the unchallenged #1.
lol. I'll blame/credit Reimer for his own play ... whether it's good or bad
lol! AHL hater

The MSM (Kevin McGran) is cautioning the Leafs fans about past November success but this is false. Last year the Leafs were 4-6-3 in November and 6-6-2 in December. So the strain was already beginning to show. Leafs were riding the October start which was 10-4-0.
I do think he holds on too much. He still makes too many high o-zone turnovers after he gains the zone. But he's improved from last year, for sure.
internal competition is sweet

Pittsburg game will be interesting
this is not the result they were expecting :)
Its fun - they talk about the Leafs like the audience has never heard of them. Did a thing on MLG and how tourists should visit it when they are in Toronto.
I'm watching NBC. It's pretty good.
Leafs are benefiting from no Krejci
Polak gave him a stern talking to
Bit of a head-scratcher.

Dissenting opinions have been quashed.
the Leafs are 14th in shots for and 25th in shots against.
How can they be the worst possession team other than Buffalo?
Bibeau is doing great as is Gibson.
Yeah I just wanted to post something positive :)

Burke was a wheeler and dealer
Injuries happen. Only at MLHS are they considered shocking.

lol! I meant I don't think those will actually be the lines. Or not for long anyway.
Lupul played 66, 16 (plus playoffs) and 69 games. Players get hurt. Other teams deal with inuries all the time.
Its just a roster. Means nothing
Why trade him and for what? Unless we are blowing up the whole team how would this make us better? When he's healthy he contributes.
That's not a tonne of skill, is it?
