McDavid would speed up the process. They should be thinking "tank" in a major way this season then put together a decent team next year. What kind of GM has just 2 legit centers to start the season?

You always blitz the rookie QB

He had some so-so games and was basically our 7th d-man. When Polak went down the Leafs tried the right handed Holzer and he's done well enough to stay.
Yeah, Taylor Hall is an elite winger. I don't see how they get a worthy return. Unless its a center like Johansen but I don't see why Columbus makes that move.
I was referring to the chart above, not the Kings' actual play. I agree with you though.
@Bring the Cup Home
Maybe I'm too fixated on outliers but look at Columbus. Nothing in their record or differential suggested they'd make the playoffs. LA doesn't look particularly dominant and they won the cup.
@wendelsfist @In it to Winnik
I think its far more likely RNH or Eberle get moved.
We already have Kadri. We need an improve at this position overall.
Only if we can replace Bozak with a better center
That's what it took to get through to some players

As long as its not a 3-point game I'm happy

Calgary is such a hard working team, Leafs have their work cut out for them!

If the Leafs tank then I think Lupul would be available.
Calgary is 4-17-1 in Toronto since Feb. 17, 1993
If the Leafs end up in a position to unload big contracts, Calgary would be a good destination.
Ugly Christmas sweaters is a fad I don't understand at all.
There's nothing wrong with different opinions.
Barkley must be happy: he didn't give the dumbest interview for once.
You missed the point
yet O'Neill had the good taste NOT to attend the Mandela tribute ;)
I didn't say he was wrong, I said it was an unnecessary comment that created a story where they didn't need to be a story.
Burke created his own sideshow. Even when he drafted Morgan Reilly and said "he's our #1 guy" Burke alienated all four GMs ahead of him and put huge pressure on Reilly.
Toronto will always be Leafs crazy but Burke managed to create his own stories.
I don't hate Burke, I just don't look back fondly on his time here. He was polarizing and talked a bigger game than he could deliver.
but he failed to accomplish anything. A giant ego + success is good, a giant ego without success just pisses people off.
I have no nostalgia for the Brian Burke era... none at all. Am I alone in this?
and we get screwed every time we walk into a bar because every bar is supplied by the beer store.
God Bless Americaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
@Mind Bomb @peterbleafs @Burtonboy
Why don't we let small business owners profit from selling beer in their local stores? Grocery stores? The government can still gets its tax money. BC, Alberta and Quebec all have far more convenient systems for beer-drinkers. Quebec still has an LCBO equivalent if you're into that gov't thing. The Beer Store makes no sense ... none at all.
Drink less? Fuck off.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall:
At the end of last season, when MacLean’s team failed to reach the playoffs, Murray had expressed his disappointment and said, tellingly, that the players were telling him they wanted “the old Paul” back. The new Paul, in the first season after winning the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s top coach, had changed in their opinion, becoming far more hardline.

He got a lot of credit for the 2013 Sens who were supposed to go nowhere
1 week, 2 days ago on Monday Mashup: Flames and Wings This Week
MacLean made some loud-mouth, obnoxious, comments. I won't miss him. I imagine there are other people on the Sens team and in mgt that feel the same.
To my mind, they are following the same league procedure they followed with Winnik.

I think that's an interesting interpretation. Clearly, Nonis told the hockey world he wanted Frattin back.
Besides reputation, the Leafs still have a lot of work to do. Their shot totals against are still too high.

Those writers have seen this story before. Leafs start strong then fade away as the season gets tougher.
@Mattmark @Radar O'Rielly
Injuries are part of the game. Hopefully Komarov is only out one week.

It doesn't seem very long ago this guy was everyone's favourite trade bait. I'm not going to worry too much about Franson's fate.
2 weeks, 5 days ago on Friday Mashup: Not Enough Games This Week
haha, I stopped dealing with them a long time ago. I think in this, they know what they are doing. They are rich enough not to worry about short-term cash flow which is already positive. Time will tell what they intend.

would be shocked if Shannie did that. Nonis who?
If I'm Rogers, I'm looking at maximizing the present value of the TV deal. The Leafs struggling a year or two, per normal, doesn't hurt much. If the Leafs can get consistently good, that is a big pay-day. A run to the finals is worth 4-first round exists, right? Maybe even more, maybe even much more.
I hope not.
Depends how much they value the short-term v. long-term. If they could get the Leafs good, say like Anaheim or SJ or STL good, they'd be generating revenue endlessly: playoffs every year, salaries capped, turn up the hype machine and watch the ratings soar!
Hence why I'm not a huge Burke fan any more. He should have dealt Grabo, imo, when the 18-wheeler went over the cliff. Instead he signed him to a too large contract.
Yes but we were in a playoff spot weren't we? That makes it impossible to trade guys. You undermine your players and alienate your fan base.
If we are not in a playoff spot, yeah I think so. The Marlies are stinking it up right now. A non-playoff team and a shallow pool of young talent... not a good combo.
I start trading. Keep two of Franson, Phaneuf and Gardiner.
Winnik and Santo gone if they bring a decent return.

on Kadri: "there’s no sensible reason for him not to be on the powerplay"
lol! Except that he hasn't produced a single point. That seems like a sensible reason to try someone else.
