We need a new word to define players that are strong, fast and skilled who play a possession game. Detroit has a bunch from what I saw on the weekend. Leafs need more players combining these traits.

Damien Cox tweeted this. I presume its true.
We need to round up traitors in the ACC and purge them.

Yeppers. I'm waiting to see if the teams improves, stagnates or regresses to a very dark place.

The Leafs were so bad in 2009. Luke Schenn was our best asset and we couldn't trade any of our players for more than a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Yes, mistakes have been made but given where the Leafs were, there was little room for error.

Remember in 2009 when GMs (like Gainey) warned Leafs fans a rebuild takes 8 years? Hellooooo 2017!

He waited a long time for a big payday and earned two Cups along the way. You gotta take the money, you gotta.
Already tried. Didn't work.
Effective play is overrated. We should play him no matter how bad he is.

If he could win more than 25% of his draws, that would help.

There's nothing available under "live streaming" ...
Does CBC no longer stream NHL games?
It was an unhappy and unsatisfying game.
Third line was good.
3 days, 12 hours ago on Saturday Mashup: Round Two, Hopefully Better than Round One
When the Leafs are playing the game, the shots 5v5 have improved (Colorado game, first 30 minutes last night). When they give up or when they have a large lead (Rangers, Pitts), not so much.
@Leafbites @Alec Brownscombe @gjdevlin
I hope Alec is wrong. If he's right we better trade him to Edmonton for nothing, haha
@Alec Brownscombe @gjdevlin
Has Dion been that bad? There were a number of missed assignments that led to goals last night. That last goal he could have used a little help from his teammates. instead there was an unchecked Detroit forward who tipped it in.

no, this is better

Robidas looked absolutely lost v. Colorado. He only played 14 minutes. Today, I'd rather sit Robidas.
Is that a cut on his lip or a case of the herpes? ;-)

You're suggesting its impossible to evaluate players outside of an NHL game. In the old days of hockey, you earned your ice time in practice. Has this become impossible?
They need to do something about the fourth line.
Daily faceoff has Reimer as "likely"
The Star reports Reimer starts tonight... am I missing something?
@T K O
Teams watch so much video on other teams' players, I'm sure its public knowledge around the NHL.

Gardiner should reset his Gaussian distribution
5 days, 15 hours ago on Thursday Mashup: Leafs Analytics Tools On Display, Lupul hurt
This is a good example of what you see with your eyes being backed up by the numbers.
My time horizon is short, like Friday night`s game. Leafs are committed to moving Dion to the left side... for now. This can (and probably will) change quickly.

Leafs want 3 left hand shooters and 3 right hand shooters. So the competition is at LD, pick three:
@GreekGod @deedrag @Mcost61
I don`t think its stupid. Gardiner should play better then the coach couldn`t sit his stupid ass in the press box.
I don't think so. He makes dumb plays in his own zone. I think that will scare away other teams.
2 weeks, 1 day ago on Maple Leafs cut Colton Orr, Fraser McLaren, William Nylander; Roster down to 23
I don't believe that. Trade for value, that I believe.
Sportsnet, I'm afraid... why can't you stream?
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Game Review: Preseason Game #9, Maple Leafs 5 vs. Red Wings 1
Dion liked playing on his off-side. When RC moved Dion to LD, he looked bad (likely because we didn't have 1st line quality RD).
This season the Leafs brought in two players (Polak and Robidas) they thought might allow Dion to play the left side and have quality help on RD.
At least, this is the narrative being put about.
Leafs play MTL, PITS, COL, NYR, DET(2x) in the first six games. Do we need any facepunchers for these opponents?
Yes I know, you write the same comments endlessly
"very solid" is an exaggeration. Colborne had a slow start in Calgary and a better second half.
My problem with Colborne is he won't play a tough bottom six role. And he's not skilled enough to be a top six center. Maybe a top 9 bottom 3 system would better suit him.
Holland put up similar numbers to Colborne but in half the games and with 30% less ice time. Holland was +1 while Colborne was a -17 for what that's worth.
@wendelsway1 @dlb Mad @Cameron19
I don't understand the Holland criticism either. He looked pretty good last year before he got hurt.
@T K O @Top Jimmy
I read he returned to last night's game in the third period.
Brad Ross is alive!?

I doubt Ashton will ever be a regular in the NHL. If you don't believe me goto a Marlies game. He's bigger and stronger than most AHL players which generates his success. In the NHL, his size and strength is not exceptional.
highly motivated individuals
3 months ago on Leafs sign David Booth to a 1-year, $1.1 million contract
I'm loving the speed of our team
Ashton has success in the AHL because he's bigger than most opponents. That isn't true in the NHL. I think it'll be hard for Ashton to be an every day NHL'er.
