I'm not against trading those players but I do want a significant return. Addition by subtraction isn't going to work: the Leafs have no replacements.
McC is gone for sure imho

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during the players and coaches exit interviews

Leafs are paying Carlyle a large salary. He can wait..
@leafersutherland @Belfour20/JB-45 @CanuckUKinToronto
I believe JFJ had to put proposals (re-build, major signings) to the board of directors.
At one point he requested he be allowed to blow the Leafs up. The board refused him permission. Enter... Jason Blake...
Let`s keep Clarkson another year and see what he can do. Leafs will be fleeced in any deal involving him.

Leafs need secondary scoring. If we move Lupul, we need to replace him with someone who can score.
I was thinking of next year.

or an interim coach might be a good way to go until we find the right guy
I'll be impressed if he does it for 100 games
Franson is 2nd in the league in hits and is a PP specialist and is 6'5. Other teams are curious, he has value... although maybe not #3 overall value.
No it doesn't. Not adding value beyond his stats does.
3 days, 15 hours ago on Peter DeBoer makes some sense as the Maple Leafs’ next head coach
Mirtle is a bad reporter: just a stats guy.
the position requires a winner with Stanley Cup rings... last time I checked there are no Leafs alumni under 60 with those credentials

maybe you're dumb?

Komarov sucks. He couldn't score to save his life
Many hockey players play video game. What a stupid ass you are.
Best advice I've read all day

No. He just signed a new contract.
People are keen to improve our compete level, which would be good, and our physicality, truculence, etc.
But remember, the Leafs had shitty secondary scoring from the not-Kessel lines.
$6m/yr for a checker sounds ... insaneeeeeeee
Clarkson ate up our asshole budget. At least the kind that don't score goals.
I can't see Lupul going to LA. Don't people on this site think he's the worst defensive forward in the league? And maybe the best defensive team is going to trade their captain for him? This makes little sense.
that's not too bad.
According to Cap Geek's projection that would leave $18+m on the table. That's enough to open doors.
What kind of money is Gardiner going to get?
I wonder if some Leafs players fear success
Carlyle woudn't play him anyway
There's a lot of sense to this move and I'd prefer Shanahan to Gretzky.
Boston media didn't think well of Reimer last Spring, I suspect mgt thinks similarly.
Our D is a serious problem. I'll quote Burke: you build from the net out.

has been for a while, too
6 days, 11 hours ago on Brendan Shanahan being considered for ‘top hockey ops’ job with Maple Leafs
Kessel goes nowhere.
You know what you'd get for trading Kessel?
1st round pick (20-30 overall)
2nd round pick
That is about it. Anything else is a pipe-dream.
I think the idea is to have someone in management players can look up to and might actually take advice from. The coach is an adversary as often as not. This kinda setup has worked well for Boston with Cam Neely and Pittsburg with Mario Lemieux (although he's an owner).
Leiweke must be a busy man. He may want to lighten his workload regarding the Leafs.

Yzerman is the GM in TB, this is about bringing in another suit.
Players admire a former player like Shanahan whose won Cups.
@lukethenuke @sniperstar @mike_84
Why would we trade Kadri for Kane? We need centers and defence... not troubled wingers
I think Bolland's consciousness is going to be struck with a full dose of reality. With his injuries, he's not getting a long term deal from anyone. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back on a one year deal
100% he would have been traded

Yeah, I don't understand this "fire Nonis" thing. If there's a better GM, hire the better GM. Otherwise Nonis has been quite good. Clarkson looks bad but Burke had plenty of bad signings, too
@Hammertownleaffan @Murph2417 @Cosmos1973
which we would. Toronto is a prestige job despite our recent failure. And we actually have some decent players and prospects now: so much the better.
Did I mention the Leafs coach is one of the highest paid year after year?
Plus if you get fired, you get to keep your money!
Whoever that is
That would be sweet beyond imagining
Samuel Bennett at #1
He'll be gone
Is that true??? wow
That's what I thought too
that was some nice possession time
I'd like to see Kadri finish the year strong
The Leafs might need an interim coach next year... like that guy in Chicago who was fired when Quenneville became available a few games into the season.
