@Anthony Petrielli @loomx @Jmessih I have great respect for the work you do here. Can't imagine not writing "fuck it" every night after a while.
The fact is that this is still Burke's frankenstein experiment. He's doing in Calgary what he should've done here. He should never have traded for Kessel, he should never have traded for Phaneuf or Lupul or Gardiner or any of those guys. There was a reason those guys were available in the first place. He should've recognized what he had, and started fresh maybe with Duchene and Seguin and you can add from there.

@Anthony Petrielli @loomx @Jmessih I spent a lot of time here man. I liked the passion that other people showed. That passion for me is 100% gone. It's sad really.
Had to log back in for this debacle. Didn't watch tonight and I'm not going to watch another game this season and probably beyond. The Leafs are never going to win a Stanley Cup under the reign of MLSE and since the two will never split, well.....
I chose not to see that for a long time but the day has finally come. I'm insanely disinterested in this team. They'll never do what it takes to build a winner. We've seen that in the last 9 years, make that 47. So much wasted time putting faith in guys that other teams couldn't wait to get rid of. Time to move on.
@Jmessih Man fuck that shit. Life's too short to waste time blindly following something that will never give back what you put in. Win first, then we'll see.
Well MLHS, it's been a hoot. Sometimes you just gotta know when to step back. I care too much and it hurts my brain. Keep the good articles coming guys. Go on without me, I'll catch up later.

@phaneufoundlander @loomx Skating can only take you so far. He just doesn't think the game very well.

Getting pretty sick of Gardiner.
Fantasy hockey question: I need to play one goalie and that goalie needs to not shit the bed. I don't need a win, I just need a high SV%. Emery vs. Montreal or Justin Peters vs. St.Louis?
1 week, 3 days ago on GDT: Game #18, Toronto Maple Leafs vs Buffalo Sabres (7pm, HNIC)
@DeclanK Yayyyy! We're not bottom 5!
@Luke_R @loomx I think last year's intro was a Fall out Boy song leading into Knights of Cydonia which was pretty good.
1 week, 3 days ago on Game 17 Scoring Chances: Penguins 2 vs. Maple Leafs 1
Like the goal song this year. Much better than last years.
@ingy56 On emergency basis. Someone hurt?
@vinoa @Jmessih I'd trade him while he's decent to be honest. Zero faith that he can ever be anything more than below-average defensively.
1 week, 6 days ago on Tuesday Mashup: Bruins Wednesday
@Bruffins @loomx Well everything I'd read suggested he'd be a top 4 pick. Highly skilled two-way player. In the end it worked out for some teams who maybe gambled on lesser known/injured guys like Anaheim with Lindholm and us with Rielly but man...Dumba and Koekkoek over him?
Not to mention the Caps traded him for Martin Erat...
@Jmessih Winnik's back. Like Chumbawamba, he gets knocked down, but he gets up again. Playing with Kadri and Clarkson because ya know, we got sick of a possession driven 1st line...
The kid is on fire. He was my choice at #5 after the Islanders picked. Although that was a great draft and most teams got a good player, I bet some teams from 6-10 are feeling pretty silly.
@newkb Yes, but Panik-Kadri-Kessel looked just as good together. Why go back to a line that allows as many goals against as goals for instead of just trying something new?
2 weeks ago on Tuesday Mashup: Bruins Wednesday
@newkb Really? Are we going back to the "look at the standings/result" argument over what's best for the long term?
@T K O @loomx @wendelsfist Obviously you can switch it up at certain key parts of the game. Overall, the switched up top 6 performed better than what we have now. It's not always about the amount of pretty goals a line can produce.
@wendelsfist @loomx The goal should be to limit the amount of time the top 6, especially the top line, spends in the Dzone. From what I saw, switching it up helped immensely. The first game they went back to JVR-Bozak-Kessel, they were hemmed in 5-6 times which led to goals against.
@Burtonboy @loomx But even Winnik-Kadri-Kessel worked and Panik-Kadri-Kessel looked good too. I'm sensing a theme here...
@T K O @loomx Probably about the same. I like the idea of calling up a bunch of guys up to play a few games rather than calling up the same guys a lot.
Unreal that we're going back to what wasn't working with JVR-Bozak-Kessel. Makes no sense.
@T K O I'd keep Carrick down. He needs more time.
@Jmessih Not quite sure about the quality of the entire roster but it seems like US will have Eichel, Hanifin, Larkin, Milano, and Tuch. That's good.
McDavid and Reinhart ain't bad either.
2 weeks ago on Monday Mashup: Two-game winning streak!
@Jmessih Hope we get to see a battle between Eichel and McDavid.
@dlb Mad @loomx He was playing like crap to start the year and was then given a bigger role and he's turned it on since. Didn't really "earn" it this year either.Last year was dumb. Didn't play him enough and it cost us a draft pick.
2 weeks, 1 day ago on GDT: Game #15, Toronto Maple Leafs vs Ottawa Senators (6 p.m, SNO)
@dlb Mad Playing him more makes him better. gee, who knew?
@TheLoovTrain Can't really blame the first two on Reimer.Lehner looking like Patrick Lalime. Lehlime.
@Alec Brownscombe @loomx JVR has been pretty bad overall this season.
But man, they had something that worked defensively for the top 6 and they took it apart. Just doesn't make any sense.
@Bruffins @loomx That's what I was looking for!
Somebody remind me why JVR-Bozak-Kessel is still a line?
@Bruffins The little juke move made me think it was RIelly at first.
@ingy56 @loomx Can't find any of the Brian Burke ones.
2 weeks, 2 days ago on Game Review: Game #14, Maple Leafs 5 vs. Rangers 4
Looks like nearly all of the OttawaGh0st videos have been deleted. what a tragedy.
@Zep2 @loomx @Burtonboy Oh yeah I agree. I'm saying they should've signed him as a player in '96. Gretzky, Sundin, and Gilmour on the same team.
@TheLoovTrain @loomx @Burtonboy Yeah Bill Watters says many things. Leafs chose moving to the ACC instead of signing Gretzky.
@Burtonboy Don't really care about this. I care more about the fact that he almost signed here in '96. Probably would've won the cup. And the Leafs said no.
@Hmmm @loomx The problem is not offensive. It's a defensive problem. Can't have the top line hemmed in the D-zone 5 or 6 times a game. I'd sacrifice a handful of goals for from the top line if it meant reducing the goals against on the top line.
@docmma @Mitch92 @loomx @Bruffins
Kadri now tied for second on Leafs in even strength points. Top 90 in league. Think we can kill the "struggling" narrative.
@docmma @loomx @Bruffins You mean the scoreboard the last few seasons when we missed the playoffs? great.
That line allowed almost more goals than it scored last season, which is shocking because they scored soooo many goals.
@docmma @loomx @Bruffins What has transpired is that whenever Bozak and Kessel are on a line, they get hemmed in and outshot more often than not. Whether it was Lupul-Kadri-Kessel, Winnik-Kadri-Kessel, Panik-Kadri Kessel, those new lines haven't been hemmed in regularly, if at all. That should be the goal here.
@docmma @Bruffins Bozak and Kessel do not have synergy. Kessel and JVR do. Either way, none of those three should be playing on a line.
JVR-Bozak-Kessel should never be a line ever again. I can't even remember Winnik-Kadri-Kessel getting pinned in their own zone for any significant period of time. Happened at least 5 times last night alone.Panik-Kadri-KesselJVR-Bozak-Clarkson
Gee, I haven't heard anybody talk about Phil's summer training or his weight in a while...

Speak of the devil. Cody Franson spaced out on that play.

Young players get scratched for no reason and Cody Franson has still never been a healthy scratch under Randy Carlyle. ho hum.
2 weeks, 4 days ago on Maple Leaf Hangout Season 2 Episode 2 with Gus Katsaros
@deedrag Yeah, the cupboards aren't "bare", they just need more blue chip prospects.
I mean, having a bunch of Carricks, McKeggs and other role players is great, they just need to hit a grand slam. Was mentioned on the Steve Dangle Podcast too. Leafs drafting isn't *bad*, they've produced a lot of NHLers, more than usual in fact. The reason that doesn't get talked about though is that they haven't picked a superstar in a long time. They need a Karlsson or Getzlaf or Perry. Hopefully that can happen with Rielly, Nylander, or Johnson.
