@lukethenuke I went to highschool with him, he is a good kid. Gardiner has a higher ceiling though... I rather flip Gardiner for a young centre.

@mORRganRielly The key to being a good writer is understanding your audience. Instead of criticizing others, maybe look at yourself and the information you are trying to provide.
@Yaknowwhat talk about premature...
@CanuckUKinToronto lol you're a smart man but that is definitely not happening...
that should be a fast line...Leivo and Raymond
Philly already down 1 against the Canes...you have to think that Laviolette will be back in the TSN studio soon.
11 months, 2 weeks ago on Why I have become more open-minded about hockey analytics — and a blurb on Morgan Rielly
@djamon @InNonisWeTrust Thanks!
Not sure if everyone saw this pretty early this morning but thought it would be worth to post again:
So I went to the game last night and Keon asked me to give a little blurb on what I saw. So here it is player by player for a few of the guys
Dion: I know he gets a lot of flak for his mistakes that shine so glaring at times....but the leafs right now don't have a defenceman as well-rounded as Dion. He does so many little things right on the ice that the average hockey person never truly appreciates. Do I think he is worth $6.5MM? Probably not but he is the type of skillset that is a staple on any succesful stanley cup winning team.
Franson: Obviously he had a very poor game but he noticeably started taking the body consistently and is becoming harder to play against. I think everyone knew that from the get go that his offensive game was there it's nice to see him turning more well rounded
Ranger: I think he shows a lot of promise at times but it's so apparent that he's been out of the league for four years...he's still not used to the pace and I guess we'll see more blunders till he gets up to speed. The toolbox is definitely there for him to be a solid 5-6 guy.
Gardiner: Skates like the wind, he can get out of his zone at such ease that he makes guys like Ranger look even worse. I think he needs to be more assertive though...probably too concerned about the defensive zone which leads to him not taking too many gambles in the offensive zone. Not a bad problem to have but just needs to find the sweet spot.
Rielly: All world talent. Honestly, I was so impressed at his poise..and he's not a small guy either. Gardiner had the issue of playing the body when he first got to the league but Rielly is a different story..he's deceptively a huskier build and has very good defensive ability. His first pass out of the zone is brilliant and I think he'll be an All Star in this league one day.
Kessel: It's actually disgusting how quickly he can get into the zone and make things happen. Every single time he had the puck on his stick defenceman would back off and he would make something happen.
Kadri: I love Kadri but I think he has a knack of disappearing in games and last night was a good example. Sure he scored a goal but he went missing as well. The skilset is there though and once the hockey acumen gets up to speed, he'll be solid.
JVR: Fast as hell and big. I think he's due for a very big season.
Bernier: This is no knock on Reimer because I think he's such a stand up person judging by interviews etc but he's no Bernier. The talent level is completely different. Reimer is a workhorse and will just rely on positioning on stopping pucks and myaybe 50 - 60% of the time he'll hold onto the puck cleanly. Bernier has unbelievable rebound control, in traffic especially. He has this calm demeanour that I really think the team already feeds off. The other big asset which I think will become more evident as the defenceman get comfortable with him is his puck handling ability. His ability to play the puck can really kick start the offence from the back end....guys like Gardiner/Rielly/Phaneuf will really benefit from this.
That's all I have...hopefullly this was worth the read.
@Loric76 Some lady to a puck right on the face in the first period...so that could be what they were referencing
@dlb eh @LeafsManiac Agreed
@2minutes he dropped the gloves against Kaletta and then Drew Bagnall the night after in the pre season.
11 months, 2 weeks ago on Leafs down another winger; lose Kulemin, recall Abbott; Reimer gets the start vs. OTT
@2minutes Bodie can fight as well and he's shown that he can play strong defensive hockey

@-Keon- lol fist yourself.
@djamon @InNonisWeTrust I did say lucky enough. Anyways....
@-Keon- sarcasm I hope. Not entirely sure where you get the bragging from...
