@wendelsfist @gjdevlin well I thought he was a d-man and they didn't like him doing that...? I thought they wanted him to try to pass it up the boards because when he goes in deep (he does it very like a forward) but leaves the defensive end vulnerable plus his rush ended up getting turned over so I was concerned about that bit.

A good disappointing loss - would have liked to win - can't complain. The review on Gardiner - he carried the puck up into the zone and lost it. Are they trying to tell him to stop doing that?
All in all - it was a solid good effort. With Booth back and Lupol hopefully something would click.
Didn't like that reversed icing call in OT. Wish Crosby would shut his pie hole.
@Potcy @Jmessih I dunno but I think the trapezoid is a stupid rule.

Great game overall. Let's hope the effort continues. Loved Holland's goal. Let's see what happens next week. Watching the game, I felt that Detroit had a better possession overall but the Leafs kept pushing back until they fell off the cliff.
And the 18 wheeler was safely parked on the shoulder road.
@Czarofleafnation I don't want their saluates. I want them to say yes, sir and then get ready for the next game. I don't want celebration or music.
Bag skate tomorrow bitches.
1 week ago on GDT: Game #20, Tampa Bay Lightning vs Toronto Maple Leafs (7:30pm, TSN4)
@Burtonboy fuck off no - I want them back on the ice tomorrow.
A good win but I don't trust them right now. I just expect them to compete night after night regardless of the opponent. Now for the Leafs its home to bed and back to the practise rink tomorrow. I'm not giving them the fucking day off tomorrow. You still don't fucking deserve it.
I hope Carlye took Gardiner to the woodshed when we made that lazy no look pass to clear the zone. You smug little turd - turn around look about and see if you can flip the puck out of the zone - off the boards (high) or over the forwards. Wake the fuck up next time.
I still expect and think we should move Phanuf and Gardiner if a good package becomes available.
Other than that they need to forget about tonight and move on to the next game.
Some other people say we bitch and moan about our Leafs and whine when they lose.
That's true but the problem really is - we want them to compete - play hard like we lost to the Penquins - just play hard.
Heartless review I know and I'm not going to pat them on the head - you won tonight and I don't fucking care. Just keep playing hard and MAYBE I'll start smiling next week.
@ingy56 Oh they prepared all right. They just decided they didn't want to play that's all.

Kind of surprised Dan Blysma is not coaching...is he any good? He was surrounded by talent with the Pens but..
@Komas Taberle @gjdevlin announcer: attention everybody tonight's attendance is 9.
@Komas Taberle @gjdevlin still spinning too...
Announcer: Attention Patrons - the police are investigating a missing turnstile from the first floor console. Please avoid the east side exit should you choose to leave the building.
Announcer: Attention Patrons - the turnstile has been found. It was located inside the Leaf dressing room.
@Komas Taberle @gjdevlin I would just dump Phanuef for nothing. Give us a 2nd rounder or a third rounder.
@Komas Taberle @gjdevlin Even worse. Komisarek fights.
@whalz @AlbertaMapleLeaf Tampa will just schedule a light practice and nap on game day and yawn to a win.
@Komas Taberle @gjdevlin He should be traded now. He does have a 10 team list so can they trade him to that team without consulting him or he has to approve?
So explain this to me:
The Leafs play an awesme game against Buffalo and Boston. They make clean passes out of the zone. A tight forecheck and destroy both teams. They hold up their end against the very talented Penquins then decide that they don't want to play against Buffalo and Nashvile?
The team isn't good enough? No. They played a system against Buffalo, Boston and Pittsburgh. They can do it.
Something is off and something is brewing in the locker room.
We cannot trade Phauef. We cannot send him down. The only thing we can do is strip him of his "C". There should be no "C" on this team for a while. He is not setting an example.
Firing Carlye will do no good. There's nobody else who can coach and what's to trade? What coach isn't afraid to hold a player accountable?
We are stuck with his bunch until summer.
@Colleen somestimes I suspect some of the swagger and entitlement has spilled over from management coddling them too long instead of holding players accountable.

First, I want to issue a heartfelt apology to April Riemer. She has been raked over the coals via twitter as it has come to my understanding. And I truly believe that the folks who post here would not do such a thing. And for those who have sent those terrible tweets - and if you happen to come by here - do yourself a favor - just stop. April Riemer is James' wife and it's not her fault in anyway how this game turned out. If you are sending those terrible tweets then you cannot separate yourself from it's just a game to move on to the next game. And you probably need some serious mental health counseling.
Before we move on to the next game, I'll give a brief summary of my thoughts. I did not watch the game in its entirety but did go over some of the highlights. The break way goal allowed by Reimer was also the fault of Dion Phauef and this was a short handed goal. He was the only turnstile in the building that was functioning correctly. The Buffalo forward blew right past him. Reimer probably would have been better to come out a bit but stand his ground and try to make the most out of it instead of doing a poke check.
Unfortunately this was not Reimer's night. He made a few mental mistakes and eventually those goals ended up tipping the balance 'mentally' in favor of the Buffalo Sabres. It is ALSO the responsiblity of the team to up their game and respond to those goals.
The entire team choose not to do this. To me it shows an utter lack of faith in one another - the forward is saying the goalie let me down - well think about it - the forwards and defense also let the goalie down. It goes both ways.
I'm not defending anyone on the team. Gardiner has made mistakes again from what I heard. Reimer's rebound, positioning and decision making were glaring as were some of the defensive miscues around the net.
Fire who? For what?
Trade who? For whom?
Like it or not - the team has to find a way to regroup - however this inconsistent play has to be addressed by the coaches or management. I'm at loss for words what they are going to do.
However, I do feel it in my bones as the management can see that the Leafs are inconsistent they are going to have to address the situation SOON while we are currently in a good position. Best to do it now before the rest of the 18 Wheeler tumbles off the cliff for good.
Yeah - leadership and that is Dions responsibility- I don't see him leading the team. The ads him of strip him of his C

Taking the night off again?
How do you spell Pittsburgh? L-U-C-K-Y. I'm bummed over the loss but happy we played for solid sixty minutes. However the way the Penguins kept us from attacking up the middle was the difference - they kept us on the outside. Thus the reason why we need a big strong center to push up the middle.
On to Buffalo. Hope we can get a win tomorrow.

@Jmessih It's only fair. Bernier had the night off the last time.
Yes he scored before everyone sat down. Fans are passive at the ACC.
2 weeks, 1 day ago on Game Review: Game #16, Toronto Maple Leafs 6 vs. Boston Bruins 1
Some one mentioned that the fans at ACC were quiet. I think it is because they trust the Leafs. Management and team are going to have to work hard to earn that trust. Watching the game - every time they scored I just did short fist pumps because I didn't trust them to play a full game. Let's hope this grows and leads to good sustainable hard fought hockey from here on.
On to Pittsburgh.
Fist bumps for everyone.

Lol stole this!
Wow sweet! Interesting that lone goal the Bruins got was a result of the Leafs getting caught in the cycle.
Gardiner did well - he needs to bulk up a bit - upper body strength to manage those one on ones.
Is it me or is Kadri invisible?
He said he enjoyed seeing all the fans dismay in Toronto after the collapse. He said it was all about how th fans were upset at the jumbotron. He loved it.
Watching Briins Leafs pregame show on NBC HDR - Jeremy Roenick is a fucking asshole.
@Anthony Petrielli @gjdevlin Yeah I just like reading his stuff with a good cup of coffee...
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Tuesday Mashup: Bruins Wednesday
@Marlies Man @Anthony Petrielli reports say his career is over. I don't think so. Will the Leafs keep him around?
One site I like to visit is the MyNHLRumors. The site is pure speculation but takes quotes from various sources pertaining to potential trades, rumors, moves, signings etc. In NO way one can lump this site with Ecklund's dreadful hockeybuzz. I would rather browse honeybooboo forums with a gun to my head than go through hockeybuzz. I just have a healthy appreciation for mynhlrumors is all - the site doesn't make any gradiouse claims and list/names the sources talking about deals moves etc.
Anyhoo - as well all know - there has always been talks between Leafs and the Hurricanes last summer but it appears to have died down. On the site one pro scout says that the Leafs would have to move Gardiner and Kadri for Stall.
Hmmm tempting. Thoughts?
I thought it was a good effort from the buds. They kept attacking the puck and keeping it out of the zone. I'm liking the improvements so far:
Seeing more of the 4th line get minutes and contributing - I'm glad that Carlye is under the watchful eye of the boss upstairs to use those lines more.
Cutting down on the shots on net and generating more offense.
Making timely passes out of the zone
Improving on turn overs.
No more collasping.
More patience with the puck.
Staying in the offensive zone longer - cycling.
Lots of good things what they should be doing.
My concern is Kadri - he is playing way to passively and needs to step up some more. I'm reminded of a player we had before we shipped him off to North Carolina - Tlusky - the Leafs were trying to get him to hit more and he just refused.
Kadri could easily be Tlusky 2.0 and I'm concerned because he has a lot more snarl than that.
Now the real test again - the Bruins. If we cannot compete against the Bruins then there are more issues we need to cover.
Good win. Fist bumps for everyone.
2 weeks, 4 days ago on Game 15 Scoring Chances: Maple Leafs 5 vs. Senators 3
@Burtonboy I don't want him as a coach - according to the AZ papers here he delegated his coaching duties to others while he went off to film commercials and basically only showed up to coach the games and call the lines. Players respected him but felt that they were coming to the rink at times unsure of their lines.

@MaxwellHowe @gjdevlin I wonder when we will bring up Loove (Louve) whatever :-)
@MaxwellHowe @gjdevlin I'm curious to see how Booth performs. Santorelli and Winnik have been nice surprises this year.
@MaxwellHowe @gjdevlin I know for 110% sure that Nylander is staying over seas but are the Leafs allowed to bring him back this season? (this is a contract/NHL question - I KNOW he's staying over there)
Those one year contracts we gave out made me think that the Leafs would like to see a sick combo of Nylander and Connor Brown in the line up next year - maybe a dynamite 4th line?
@ingy56 I wonder if they will rename it to the Nathan Cirillo War Memorial..? Seems so fitting.
@Alec Brownscombe Brokeback Hockey?
2 weeks, 5 days ago on GDT: Game #14, New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs (7 p.m., CBC)
@mr_hanie I don't understand why they don't convert Gardiner to a forward. Sometimes the way he plays I forget he's a defense man.
Lots of positives to draw from this game. We did skate well and we moved the puck out of our zone very well. We have done it well since Arizona despite not playing in the 1st period last week.
Things to work on - cut down on turn overs. Tighten Gardiner's head. Get Phauef to stop being a turnstile. Stop making mental mistakes.
I'm curious as to when Booth is projected to be back?
Fist bumps for everyone. On to the airport for Ottawa.
The look on Komorov's face - like John Anderson old #10 - the face that says I want to be in Toronto. That's what we need.
Awright - now put in the finisher!
@DJBrianBurke @LucienDeblois He must have been confused with the walking dead season 3 tapes. The Zombies stand around.
@Alec Brownscombe @gjdevlin No because they tend to sit back a bit - move on - get the next goal.
stop celebrating and get the next goal.
