@Jmessih even though Riemer is facing a lot of shots tonight - 31- his rebound control is terrible.

San Jose must be deluded into thinking that they are beating the Leafs - we aren't even playing at full capacity tonight in terms of speed. San Jose's defense is porous and we should be using our speed to take advantage of it but were not...
I would love to see the the Leafs pull off the Islander's feat but this game I think is going down as a loss. Just as well cause if we were to lose a game on the road this week, this would be the one to "dump"

Of all the games on the road, this is one I would write off as a loss - the schedule is stupid - fly to San Jose after Anahiem then back down to LA? What was the scheduler smoking when he drew up the season?
As usual, we are giving away too much room and collapsing again...

A win is a win and it's nice to bag two points. I just hope they strengthen their defensive game going out on the road next week as it is going to be tough. There were stretches were the Leafs got the puck out. They would run up with the puck and try to score then quickly relapse back into a defensive schema without actually putting on an aggressive fore-check - it's bothersome and that is why the Flyers came back.
I was also bothered by the fact that the Leafs lost the race to several pucks on their defensive zone so it ends up with the Flyer knocking away the puck before being pinned the the boards. The puck skitters to the teammate and the Leafs waste time pinning opponents to the boards instead of battling for the puck.
Mason Raymond's rebound control was atrocious and the Leafs failed to capitalize on it to truly put the game away without having to resort to a tie and a win.

The Leafs better get their asses moving in the third..I thought we weren't pressing offensively enough. The D was looking uncomfortable with the puck at times.

From what I read in the Toronto Star today is that Bolland has healed nicely but needs to build up agility and strength. The question is is Bolland allowed to play in some conditioning games with the Marlies?

One UGLY UGLY win -but we will take it. The defense cores were truly awful. They need to smarten up with the puck. Bozak is much better this season so good on him. Bernier was sharp as usual.

This is an no excuse game meaning we should have won the fucking game!
-fucking awful decisions with the puck
-Riemer (not his fault we lost) had his fingers in the vaseline again - couldn't control the puck. Couldn't corral it.

@Cameron19 @gjdevlin@Tim HortonSo are the habs - screaming and phoning in the Canadians organization because the coach doesn't speak French? (two years ago)

@Cameron19 @Belfour20The Habs are wimps really - they are not an overly physical team - I think the Leafs need to move or replace Orr for the stretch run.
@wiski @gjdevlin@Belfour20The Gleason call was borderline.
@Cameron19 @Tim Horton@gjdevlinNot sure what you mean - I don't think they "suck" in that sense but there's just a lack of a killer finish which is kind of frustrating. I do believe we have improved in the last 20 games to put us within striking distance of nailing down a playoff spot. Let's hope that Montreal tanks on the road and the Leafs pick it up but Nonis I think needs to make a few decisions.
@Belfour20 It sucked but I think they were "right" calls however I'm perplexed by the double call on Riemsdyke and another Hab - they both went - Was Riemsdyke called for diving?
@4evrblue @gjdevlinTo add - last night's game was frustrating. It was like the first line doing all the scoring and there's a lack of finish or push coming from our 2nd and 3rd...
@4evrblue @gjdevlinThen throw in Franson!
Tough call - but would trading Reimer/Gardiner for Statsny work? If Colorado wants a pick it would have to be conditional upon Statnsy resigning with Toronto but I don't know if it work work cap wise. I hate to see Gardiner go but there are times he seems to be "not in the game" which has been bugging me.
@The_Polish_Cannon granted we weren't tough last night but we can be tougher..Bodie is tough as well but we were outhit going into the 2nd 15 to 8...

@TheCanucksnaphook @gjdevlinNo..I didn't...they clogged up the neutral zone? I would have thought that with an open the ice the trap would be dissipated because the defensive/forwards would be more spread out thus the dump and chase would work..?
Bone headed BORING game. I would keep the SAME lineup for Saturday night - just learn from your mistakes and get that two week rust out of the system.
I found myself missing the wide open ices of the Olympic ice surfaces. :-) I wonder how do players truly feel about playing on Olympic size ice? With today's up tempo game, bigger players, and more refs, I wonder why we don't have or have moved to the Olympic sized ice surfaces?
I know it would be cost prohibitive - all stadiums would have to be tweaked to accomodate an extra 13 feet of width - not to mention the the THOUSANDS of rinks across USA and Canada that would have to be adjusted for WHA, Junior Hockey etc for development and learning...
It's just that I loved the open free roaming space..:-) Watching last night's game I felt slightly claustrophobic but I'll get back into it.
The way I see it I don't think we will be making any trades this spring. Colborne maybe for a 2nd or 3rd rounder if there's a team out there that's desperate.
