@betweentheworlds I still think Hayes looks best at center. That Hagelin-Hayes-Miller line is dominant. I see no reason to break them up.

@KevinMccarthy @dylonergan paperwork just has to be filed--reports can come later. I'm still crossing my fingers for the next few hours...

Please tell me we traded Glass and got Beleskey--likely not in the same trade but that would be amazing :D

I wonder what we would have to do to get Beleskey

Alright--let's dump Glass. Fast is almost ready to come back and Lindberg has shown he can play. Let's see if this Klingberg kid can play his and settle on our 13 forwards.

@KevinMccarthy the initial report was that we had done Girardi & something for Yandle

@Bleed_the_freak I hope so.

@cb1 @Bleed_the_freak maybe we can trade him and Glass to the Stars.
@Say my Name @dylonergan @Hotfreak @I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen LOLOLOL
@Hotfreak @I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen maybe we dump Glass and he replaces him on the 4th line.
@Better Call CK FREE LINDBERG
@Better Call CK @IhateGaborik whattttt?
@Gorangers0525 +/- is mostly troubling when you have a player like Glass that plays on a team with a solid + but that player is still a serious minus.
Or when you have Ovechkin who until playing under Barry Trotz used to play jump rope with his +/-.
@cb1 @I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen @dylonergan @Barry Beck "In a regular buyout, a team can terminate the contract of a player, but
it doesn’t escape salary cap charges. If the player is younger than 26
years old at the time of the buyout, they will receive one-third of the
remaining value of the contract. If the player is 26 or older at the
time of they buyout, they will receive two-thirds the original value of
the deal. The cap hit charged to the team after the buyout will be
spread out over a period of twice the remaining the length of the
So we'd be stuck with a sixth of Boyle's hit (1.5 million) for the next two seasons after we buy him out.
@cb1 @dylonergan @Barry Beck We're like lost sheep without capgeek. We need it or something similar back.
@I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen @dylonergan @Barry Beck So as long as we save the equivalent to what Skjei's contract would be, I imagine we do it.
And since he'll be on an ETC, it should be something like Hayes' contract.
@I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen @dylonergan @Barry Beck Thanks!
@Barry Beck @IhateGaborik But it's still more than Moore's hit.
I don't think we're done yet anyways. Plus the word is Zucc and management are getting close to a 4.5 for four years deal.
The cap is supposed to go up a little this year. Even with the shit Canadian dollar, the cap should go up a bit.
@Barry Beck What's the cap hit when you buyout a player now? We've used both our compliance buyouts and had we not they would have expired anyways.
Presuming the hit allows to replace Boyle with Skjei and free up some space, I see no reason we don't do it if the kid is ready.
@I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen @Billfrom Brookhaven Oliver Ekman-Larson is a -19. He's still a phenomenal player. It's just a byproduct of playing on a shit team with a goalie that has had a pretty bad year.
@TomDundie hard to tell. Buch has better hands and seems to play a bit tougher than Duclair. Duclair had some serious speed.
Duclair dominated the QMJHL while Buch has been pretty great in the KHL (which is probably second only to the NHL in terms of level of competition). Duclair showed he can hold his own in the NHL whereas we haven't seen Buch and we don't know how he'll adjust to the smaller rink. Early whispers were that Buch could be Tarasenko level good. Only time will tell. Duclair is going to have Domi feeding him for the foreseeable future. And they looked unstoppable in the WJCs.
@GetTheKingACup @Wallace1 @cb1 No. He wants to win a cup before he retired. He left money on the table and refused to negotiate with the Islanders (who traded for his rights) because he thought NYR provided him with the best opportunity. That's why he signed a cheap two year deal with an NTC. No way he leaves to rot somewhere.
Boyle honestly isn't bad at 4.5 for the rest of this year and next year.
He also broke his hand in the first game and never got a chance to get
going. I think putting him on a lower pair and on the 2nd unit is going
to relieve some of the pressure.
He should work his ass off in the offseason and I think regardless of what happens this year, we can come back in seriously good shape for next season.
@Wallace1 @cb1 I would go run naked in the snow if that happened.
@cb1 me neither! we just have to dump that Glass contract!
@ObviouslyTwoPointsAreGreat well said. The chemistry thing is really important too.
@gravey94 @kevin11 and all three of our goalie prospects look good. You gotta hope they all develop well and we're stuck with a Vanbiesbrouck/Richter plus situation.
The returns on a good goalie prospect are serious.
@EHBIGAPPLE The Rangers are pretty stacked on the wings, we have other prospects coming in (Haggery, Buchnevich, Lindberg) in addition to Fast, Hayes and Miller already playing. Duclair is a natural left wing like Nash and Kreider and should play top 9 minutes every night, it doesn't look like he is going to get that opportunity with the Rangers this year or next.
I still think he's an excellent prospect and would have liked to see what he did with the Rangers. That's just the justification for why management felt justified in letting him go.

@nasoov @dylonergan @supermaz I don't understand it all entirely. We need a new capgeek.
@nasoov @dylonergan @supermaz http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/new-york-rangers/john-moore/
@GetTheKingACup win two now!
@rangermom That's what I'm thinking. I wonder if Arizona takes a run at Reinhart just to bring that dominant WJC line into the NHL.
@Hotfreak that's a huge upgrade from Moore/Hunwick
@supermaz I think Boyle has an NTC.
@Hotfreak @I Am Sean's Ruptured Spleen @supermaz both Yandle and Boyle will be off the books after next season.
@supermaz Moore has a hit of $1.92. We're getting Yandle for $2.625 since the Coyotes are retaining half of his contract.
I think this basically puts us up pretty high now. But Yandle is a clear upgrade from Moore for only slightly more.
@nasoov @jasonmkron crossing my fingers.
@RitchieMunn by the way. your handle is pretty retro huh?
@gravey94 @dylonergan @Hotfreak I miss it too :(
@Hotfreak @Bleed_the_freak @nasoov it just might be worth the first rounder.
@gravey94 @Hotfreak Yandle has a hit of $5.25 million a year until the end of next season. If the Coyotes are retaining 50% for the remainder of his contract like they are reporting than we will have him at $2.625 million until he is an FA.
@RitchieMunn He's been playing top minutes on the Coyotes which is one of the worst teams in the NHL.
Look at how well Tyler Myers is doing now that he isn't in Buffalo
@Say my Name Haggerty is going to be good once he rounds out.
@IhateGaborik @Say my Name Nash-Brassard-St. Louis with Stepan and Yandle on the points.
Kreider-Hayes-Miller with McDonagh and Boyle on the points. Those are two pretty decent power play units. And it keeps Girardi off the power play.
@Better Call CK half the salary retention is a pretty decent return on the deal. We basically get Yandle at half price.
I definitely agree that it's a fair package for OEL and we overpaid for Yandle. Would have preferred giving up only Duclair or the first round pick (preferably the pick) instead of both.
