So for as much as we talk about Hanley being made of glass, he is pretty much set to play like 127 games.   It's not like he's been totally absent.

@efb If we get best record, we play the WC Play in.  If we get second, we play the Cards, likely.  If the Cards pass us, we start in StL.   If the Giants pass us, we play the WC.   If the Pirates pass us, we play the WC in Pittsburgh.

@P_F_P @DBrim Awards are sort of dumb in general.   Was Crash really the best picture of the year?  What possible metric can you come up to determine that?   To a large extent, valuable is purposely subjective as value is really hard to measure.

@DBrim @P_F_P Right.  Like Alex Gordon is very good defensively.   But he's also like twenty runs better defensively than he has ever been.   Is that a flaw in the system or is it just like Chris Davis being significantly better than he has ever been in 2013?  It's probably a little of both.   Also, Alex Gordon's defensive number is helped out by the fact that teams stick their worst defensive player most times in LF, which is what he gets compared to.   I have a hard time believing the MVDP is a corner outfielder.

@P_F_P Probably.  There's a lot of question to the volatility to the defensive WAR metric and even some of the smartest people in baseball like Law and Cameron think if you use it as an exact number, you are probably doing it wrong.

@Bay_of_Puigs @Super Catfishin Turbo HD Remix  @ak825 @LASports96 @Purple Drank I don't think the Dodgers block him from getting there.  He is pitching well, he needs to be good for us to go far in the playoffs and by all accounts, he seems to be a good person to be around.

@LASports96 @ak825 @Purple Drank Why don't we want Haren?   It's an overpay next year, but it also won't limit our ability to add talent and as shown this year, starting pitching, even marginally competent starting pitching isn't terribly easy to come by.

@SoonerDodger @ak825 Yah, it's one of those sayings that sort of justifies overly passive baseball.  It's one thing to make a stupid out, but at some point, you can't justify that to not be smartly aggressive on the base path.

@SoonerDodger He didn't make an out on the base paths.  I think that in the context of that inning, that was most important.  Yah, he probably gets to third easily, especially if they have a scouting report saying to run on the RF, which they very well might.

@Tymathee @P_F_P I understand that.  But I don't think he was particularly lucky in any of his starts.   He doesn't give away a ton of base runners, gives up a ton of contact.  He will have stretches where he is pretty good.  He will also have bad stretches, but he sort of is a slightly below average starting pitcher.
