So for as much as we talk about Hanley being made of glass, he is pretty much set to play like 127 games. It's not like he's been totally absent.

@efb If we get best record, we play the WC Play in. If we get second, we play the Cards, likely. If the Cards pass us, we start in StL. If the Giants pass us, we play the WC. If the Pirates pass us, we play the WC in Pittsburgh.
@P_F_P @DBrim Awards are sort of dumb in general. Was Crash really the best picture of the year? What possible metric can you come up to determine that? To a large extent, valuable is purposely subjective as value is really hard to measure.
@DBrim @P_F_P Right. Like Alex Gordon is very good defensively. But he's also like twenty runs better defensively than he has ever been. Is that a flaw in the system or is it just like Chris Davis being significantly better than he has ever been in 2013? It's probably a little of both. Also, Alex Gordon's defensive number is helped out by the fact that teams stick their worst defensive player most times in LF, which is what he gets compared to. I have a hard time believing the MVDP is a corner outfielder.
@P_F_P @ak825 Yeah, that seems fair. But then these blowhards would have to come up with actual topics to write about.
@KMT59 tl;dr, so he won't vote for a pitcher, so he is just voting the person with the most RBI?
@P_F_P Probably. There's a lot of question to the volatility to the defensive WAR metric and even some of the smartest people in baseball like Law and Cameron think if you use it as an exact number, you are probably doing it wrong.
@KMT59 And with that big step, he sprained his ankle. Surely another crushing set back for Tulo.
@deblue @Raul Franklin @Jacopo (How is this a bad plan!) He probably also had a prescription this year. If not, it can be a pretty serious crime. For MLB he needs a TUE, which lapsed.

@Bay_of_Puigs @ak825 Pretty sure I can take a ferry and walk the rest of the way. Seems like a straight path to me?
@Super Catfishin Turbo HD Remix For the Pirates, a strong farm is their only hope.
@LASports96 @ak825 @Purple Drank But that is sort of irrelevant to bringing him back. I think they probably want him to compete for the #4-5 spot among 3 or 4 other arms.
@Bay_of_Puigs @Super Catfishin Turbo HD Remix @ak825 @LASports96 @Purple Drank I don't think the Dodgers block him from getting there. He is pitching well, he needs to be good for us to go far in the playoffs and by all accounts, he seems to be a good person to be around.
@LASports96 @ak825 @Purple Drank Why don't we want Haren? It's an overpay next year, but it also won't limit our ability to add talent and as shown this year, starting pitching, even marginally competent starting pitching isn't terribly easy to come by.
@Super Catfishin Turbo HD Remix @ak825 @LASports96 @Purple Drank Fausto isn't so sure Haren will get there.
@LASports96 @Purple Drank 11
@capnsparrow @ak825 OK. Then if he is hurt, he probably shouldn't be playing. What about anything you see gives you any hope for Ellis?
@Bay_of_Puigs @ak825 Is downtown SF not 12 miles from the Coliseum?
@capnsparrow His numbers will likely be worse. And he did roll his ankle like Carl Crawford. The difference is that Crawford came back to be a productive player.
@KMT59 He left off ribs. The ribs were probably the worst injury.
@Bay_of_Puigs @ak825 Shit. Maybe 12 miles?

@Bay_of_Puigs @OCDodger @KMT59 .229 BABIP in the period. That will go back up.
As it stands now, both WC games will take place within 7 miles of where I currently sit. That could be a good deal of fun.
@P_F_P @KMT59 Alternatively, you can look at his work on the whole and see that he is merely average to below average, which has some value considering our alternatives.
@KMT59 When should we expect the AJ Ellis being a revelation article then?
@LASports96 @Purple Drank At least he can hit.
@P_F_P @DBrim @LASports96 @OCDodger Probably. Ellis is laughably bad at pitch framing.
@P_F_P @OCDodger But he is the leader of men and a two time guest on the Jonah Keri podcast.
@deblue It's pretty crazy that the team in Fresno actually traces back all the way to the San Francisco Seals.
This is sure to pump up Justin Turner.
@Dustin Nosler @Dave! (Or Justin Turner, Maybe) It's hard to find narrative when a team is doing pretty much what they were expected to do.

@WBBsAs (In Dog We Trust. Un Planeta Sin Gatos) @P_F_P Ah. Back when the backstop was a football field away
@Dustin Nosler What is a Daniel Coulombe?
@Mike Petriello @P_F_P Fine. How about Duke Von Schamann then?
@Dustin Nosler That and to report on which minor league teams follow you on twitter.
@Subtle Euphemism aka Jonathan Lingo Ben and Sam had a whole episode of Effectively Wild about the 2000 Pedro season. Really, though, Clayton is not even close to Pedro in 2000.
I told you the Dodgers would get Colon. Oh, Co-lohm. Nevermind.
@- Casey - What is a Bay Bear?

@Dustin Nosler This is more exciting than LeBron's decision.

@potato (2014 MSTY: Newcomer of the Year) @InsideThePark (Purple MM) The baseball is the one making Giancarlo lopsided instead of the otherway around.
@Purple Drank @ak825 It's like the 5th or 6th game with Ellis catching. I don't think there's that much of a difference between the three catchers, so why not give Ellis a night off?
So is there any reason why Butera or Fed aren't catching any of these games? Is it that we are winning, so we don't change anything?
@SoonerDodger @ak825 Yah, it's one of those sayings that sort of justifies overly passive baseball. It's one thing to make a stupid out, but at some point, you can't justify that to not be smartly aggressive on the base path.
1 day, 18 hours ago on Dodgers 11, Rockies 3: Thank goodness for that 8-run inning
@- Casey - @ak825 @SoonerDodger Nah, but it was a hit where the RF had to move away from third. If Puig is hustling, he makes it like 90% of the time.
@SoonerDodger He didn't make an out on the base paths. I think that in the context of that inning, that was most important. Yah, he probably gets to third easily, especially if they have a scouting report saying to run on the RF, which they very well might.
@PF Flyers @ak825 @potato (2014 MSTY: Newcomer of the Year) Not when Vin isn't around. Yesterday was Steiner, Orel and Nomar. And while I like Orel, even he can't save that booth.
@Tymathee @P_F_P I understand that. But I don't think he was particularly lucky in any of his starts. He doesn't give away a ton of base runners, gives up a ton of contact. He will have stretches where he is pretty good. He will also have bad stretches, but he sort of is a slightly below average starting pitcher.
@potato (2014 MSTY: Newcomer of the Year) Not enough inane Nomar interjections.
