@Shift_Disturber1 @PrairieLeafFan Actually, looking closer at the Hanzal video, that was a MUCH worse hit; Left his feet, came all the way from center essentially, forearm/elbow to the head and hit late after the puck was already moved plus he is a repeat offender yet they both get 2 games?
@TheCanucksnaphook @PrairieLeafFan Well It just doesnt make sense where he calls out the fact he is NOT a repeat offender and then goes to suspend him, for no worse of a hit, the same term as a repeat offender...
Woah woah woah....2 games for that Ashton when Hanzal, identified as a repeat offender, gets 2 games for something that is no worse or better?! This is a load of crap and someone in the media needs to be critical about this and ask how or why there is such a discrepancy.
One of the points at the end of the video that was identified as determining factor was Ashton was NOT a repeat offender. If he was not, how was he suspended the same number of games, less than a week later, as a multiple time repeat offender?! How come no one in the media ever poses those types of questions to Shanahan or others at the leagues head office?! If the NHL does not have to answer for their flaky policies such as discipline, this will remain status quo. These types of suspensions should be criticized by the media...regardless of if the players are Leafs, Panthers, Canucks or Stars. BS
Speaking of getting together...I've noticed a number of people in Edmonton come on here regularly. We should maybe do a game night out at a pub in town. Not only do the TO boys (and WW) get to have the fun and camaraderie!

I will show you consistent...who the hell is that Shawn Lamb guy that wants to sell me real estate in Toronto on my phone, my desktop, my notebook and my tablet. THAT, my friends, is consistent.
@ReimNier My wife likes dee...wait a minute...
@Greg Fenton @Biltmore @ReimNier No he didnt...it was the opposite but he still managed to get on the board for 68.4% of games...and since the beginning of last season...70%...a variable of less than 2%...consistent.
@Greg Fenton @PrairieLeafFan @Dan39 @ReimNier OK...well...considering that he has shown up on the scoreboard consistently as a point producer since the beginning of last season at a rate greater than 70%. (that is including the first month after the lockout when ALL the stars were stinking it up pretty much)...that is consistent. Seeing as he only had 2 stretches of 2 games or more since the begining of last season where he did not show up on the scoreboard...that is consistent. Again, you cannot equate point totals, even over chunks of games, to consistency. If that were the case then a player that played 10 games, got points in 4 of them and totaled we will say 12 points would be in your view...consistent. Using a rational thought process though, anyone else would think that as inconsistent and not viable for long term success.Your idea of consistency is flawed on the basis that you measure incorrect values.
@Greg Fenton @Dan39 @ReimNier And to be clear, I dont care that Kessel got 30 points in one half and 20 in the other, I dont care if he got 10 points in 2 games and then pointless in 2...he showed up on the stat sheet consistently as a point producer as the season wore on. That, my friend, is consistent.
@Greg Fenton @Dan39 @ReimNier No Fenton, what you are doing is correlating a total points over X games as being streaky when streaky would be more or less defined by how many games a player would not get points in over a season in chunks of games. IE...player Y is streaky because he went a stretch of 10 games with 14 points and then went pointless (or we will say 2 points) in the next 8 games....that is NOT Kessel and therefore your assessment is wrong.
@CanuckUKinToronto @PrairieLeafFan @Greg Fenton @ReimNier @TheCanucksnaphook Just realized that LOL
@Greg Fenton @CanuckUKinToronto @PrairieLeafFan @ReimNier @TheCanucksnaphook I guess players like Ovi are wildly inconsistent too?http://espn.go.com/nhl/player/gamelog/_/id/3101/year/2013/alex-ovechkinOr look at month 2 for Toews, better put him in the same boat as Kessel too...http://espn.go.com/nhl/player/gamelog/_/id/3669/year/2013/jonathan-toewsAnd you can go on.
@Greg Fenton @CanuckUKinToronto @TheCanucksnaphook @PrairieLeafFan But your not talking about points...you are talking about consistency. Kessel, during the first month of last season produced points in 43% of games. The following month was 53%. Finally, in the last 2 months he produced points in 73% and 84% respectively. Point totals reflect the individuals contribution through a single game and do not speak to the consistency of a player in any way what so ever.
BTW- feel free to do a lookup comparing other stars in the NHL...aside from Crosby, you will see a trend that is not only found last season in Kessel but nearly all the star players in that they started off slow and got much hotter as they found their comfort zone.
@Greg Fenton @ReimNier @TheCanucksnaphook @PrairieLeafFan
This though is blatantly false and flawed. The Leafs, as a team, started off hot last season but Kessel was pretty slow to start (4 points in 7 games, pointless in 4) but only ended a minus player in 1 of the 4 games. This is part of the maturation process that we have all seen Kessel go through the past 2 years. The next month - 7 games out of 15 with points. The final 2 months of the season, 26 games, 6 without points and no games where he was held pointless back to back...that is starting off on the wrong foot (think lockout) and then getting up to speed. Comparing to other star players, no one was that consistent that I looked into during the final 2 months of last season...
Reading through the comments, I must say that the idea that Kessel is not consistent is very far fetched. He got points in 31 of 48 games last year. It has been stated here so many times that he will turn off the jets and play a team game rather than pad his stats so that should be taken into consideration when looking at his point totals too.Lastly, we should also look to multipoint games just to see that the mainly have come against teams either a) in the northeast/atlantic (now) or b) teams with premier players such as Pitts, Wash, NYR, etc. Finally, it seems that others would like to say he is not on par with the big names such as Toews, Crosby, Malkin, Ovi, etc. Well these players, while possibly having mediocre linemates, were NOT saddled with a Bozak who seems to have a phobia when it comes to shooting the puck and will blindly lob the puck in his wingers general direction before curling back to play D.Kessel...is consistent and will only grow to be more consistent with Kadri as his C. The comfort level enjoyed by Kessel and Bozak will end and will only lead to apathy on the ice if it does not along with him never achieving the 40 goal/100 point plateau.
Haven't posted a lot but my 2 cents; Hoping for a strong second period from the guys! The long change in the fly could cause havoc for the Sens with the speed and tenacity of the forwards as long as the D stay responsible.

I should also say that the posts have been infrequent since end of season...looking furth into that, he posts pretty frequently during the reg season.
Ya saw that before too, but his posts on his site are infrequent and rife with speculation. Looking to see if he has a track record of calling anything correctly that anyone knows of (ie. insider) or if he is simply a fan with a "feeling".
Anyone here know if this MayorNHL (John Hoven) has any credibility or is this just a random person posting random speculation to get random responses?
Where is this news coming from? I have looked just about anywhere I can think of and the only report I can find is from Eklund.
