@CanuckUKinToronto @TheCanucksnaphook @mike_84 boo

@mike_84 @jafa muckbar you must not have seen Kessel swing his stick at Scott. He is a padawan at least.

@TheCanucksnaphook I agree with you, it does break up the conversation. Mashup chat should be visible from every article. If the writers are looking for focused feedback then there should be a method to either filter comments, or a way to attach comments directly to the article. Having multiple pages with different conversations is disjointed, and to a new or casual reader a little confusing.

@Bring the Cup Home @Cameron19 Clarkson is going to retire to be Phil's body guard full time
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Tuesday Mashup: Catching up
@mcloki @Burtonboy Pronger and Timonen both go on LTIR, so they have a decent cushion
is there a limit on how many players you can put on LTIR for cap relief? I want to say there is with the limit being 2.
@Xxxxxnew you have to imagine Del Zotto camp is salivating at the news. He'll get another pay day if he plays his cards right.
@Cameron19 @Pent_House @maximus_asinus @ingy56 this is my thinking as well. Leafs would be smart to move Franson now before losing him next summer. We could get a good piece coming back.
@Xxxxxnew Vokoun went down for the season last year with clots in legs, doubt the prognosis is any better
@ingy56 @maximus_asinus okay how about a forward, apparently Timmonen is done for the season. Who would you take? I imagine they're desperate.
I'm not sure how it would work cap wise, but would anyone trade Franson to Philly for L. Schenn + 3rd? I think he'd be a decent 3 pairing guy who could move up the lineup.
@MaxwellHowe but what does that mean? I interpret that as Kadri is more likely to pass off to Lupul when they're together, and when they're not together Lupul is "looked off" because there is a better shooter (Kessel) on the ice.

@LeafErikson from what was said earlier Dubas was on the radio talking about being involved in this signing. Did not listen to the interview myself so this could be wrong.
3 weeks, 4 days ago on Toronto Maple Leafs sign Daniel Winnik to a one-year deal
@dlb Mad you have to pencil Kontiola into the opening night roster. He did not buy out his contract to ride the bench in the NHL
@philthethrill he and Kessel have been practicing together all summer. He is our new Snipeforcer.
@Hifi75 hate to bring up the Russian factor, but I bet my left nut Yak leaves for the KHL if he isn't lighting it up this upcoming season. Scary prospect to land him if he walks away for free later on.
has Winnik played with any of our guys before? You know Carlyle likes to pair fowards, maybe we can get an idea of where he might play based on existing chemistry.
@MaxwellHowe @maximus_asinus @Bruffins with his work ethic he could play until he is 50 easy.
3 weeks, 5 days ago on James Reimer Signs for 2 years, $2.3 million per season
@Bruffins Jagr, it will be a sad day when he retires
@Jordan29 i think I saw Phook say it, but he might have been trying to say dumbass
4 weeks, 1 day ago on (Thursday Mashup) David Booth: Another low-risk option with upside potential
great read, I'm glad someone else picked up on the Moneyball similarities. Only time will tell if Dubas is as successful.
1 month ago on Kyle Dubas: 5 Takeaways on the Leafs most recent hire
@MaxwellHowe @maximus_asinus also the dog from Air Bud comes out of retirement to play Bozak, Kessel's loyal companion.
1 month ago on Leafs sign David Booth to a 1-year, $1.1 million contract
@MaxwellHowe @maximus_asinus I thought a life sized pillsbury doughboy for Kessel, maybe Rosie O'Donnell plays Carlyle.
I can't help but compare the hiring of Dubas to the plot to Moneyball. We hired an advanced stat guy to find good players flying under the radar.
@4evrblue @maximus_asinus bums! Give me Tim Connolly!
A lot of negativity on this site regarding Booth (most of it unfounded). It seems as if we're not trading for Crosby, Stamkos, or Tavares then it is a bad move?
@DARF24 100% agree with the lineup. I expect that this is the lineup the Leaf brass want to go into the season with
@lukethenuke I like the team more with Booth. He basically completes the 3rd line cycle I was arguing for last week. I feel we are now a playoff team.
are we happier with Booth on the 2nd line or the 3rd. Personally I like the idea of him playing beside Santorelli on the 3rd, and Frattin on the 2nd with Kadri. There is chemistry there.
My only question now is Komarov, he was signed to not be "another 4th liner" but he is basically at the bottom of the LW depth charts.
@TheCanucksnaphook @maximus_asinus simply meant that the Leafs might have drafted him under the notion that he was going to be a project player, and then find out he isn't lazy just sick.
1 month ago on Cody Franson Signs with Toronto Maple Leafs for 1 year, $3.3m
I then wonder if Johnson's asthma was common knowledge, or if Bergman went the extra mile and found out on his own. Or if we drafted him and we simply lucked out.
A lot of news on Andreas Johnson as of late. His asthma was treated (what does that even mean?) and now he is turning out to be quite a steal being picked in the 7th round. Do we have a scouting report on him? Was his asthma something that really held him back?
@DeclanK @Burtonboy it is actually a photo he snuck of another person's phone. He wasn't allowed on course.
can someone make sense of the arbitration awarded to Sobotka? He apparently owes the Blues one more year of service at 2.725 mil if he chooses to return to the NHL. That is a pretty lowball deal if the rumors are to be believed. Have the Blues effectively closed the door on his return?
@MaxwellHowe do you think it is because Reimer's contract is an unknown? Maybe a deal is pending on his arbitration award.
1 month ago on Friday Mashup: 3 Unknowns Remain; Gord Dineen TSN1050 Interview
@Fish Head move O'Reilly to 1C, Bozak to 3C, Frattin to 2RW, and Kontiola to 4RW
1 month ago on Peter Horachek on Sportsnet 590
@MaxwellHowe @Burtonboy that is bad asset management. Are we supposed to let a good piece go for nothing? Or do you take a small risk and turn his trade value into more than a conditional pick?
@Burtonboy there is literally no risk in keeping him. If he gets a huge dollar amount awarded to him in arbitration you sign him to a year contract and deal him at the TD. If he wants out he will play better to attract suiters. He is a good 1B goalie so if Bernier goes down or turns out to be less than stellar the Leafs are still in good shape.
@Burtonboy @NinetyThree then you google Doug Weight's legs and get a sense of how a hockey player should be built.
1 month ago on Maple Leafs re-sign Peter Holland to 2-year, $1.55 million deal
@Bruffins @maximus_asinus he was at least 2 inches shorter, and if I were to hazard a guess at his weight, I'd put him at 150 - 160 lbs.
1 month, 1 week ago on Maple Leafs re-sign Peter Holland to 2-year, $1.55 million deal
@Bruffins @maximus_asinus more like 6' and 190 lbs. Sorry Bruffins...
I ran into Nylander (more accurately passed by him). What is this kid listed at? He is TINY.
@Bruffins Bodie, Clarkson, Santorelli, Rielly, Frattin but I'm basing my opinion on their potential, proven results, and placement in the lineup.
1 month, 1 week ago on 10 Midsummer Thoughts on the Maple Leafs
does anyone else think we're carrying a lot of spare parts into the season? A lot of square pegs for round holes. Holland for example is a more finesse player, he does not fit between Clarkson and Komarov who play a more physical dump and chisel, cycle type game. Our 4th line is looking like it will end up being a bunch of plugs. Do we have any defensive minded forwards besides Santorelli dressed at all?
I'd like to push Holland off the starting roster, What are the chances that we could swing a deal for Jordan Staal, switch Santorelli back to C and run with something like:
JVR - Staal / Bozak - Kessel
? - Kadri - Frattin
Komarov - Staal / Bozak - Clarkson
? - Santorelli - ?
Lupul, Holland, and whatever else go to make the deal work. The question marks are replaced by Marlie depth. If we could pick up Eric instead with a slightly sweetened package I'd accept that as well.
1 month, 1 week ago on Monday Mashup: The Dog Days are Here
@Cameron19 @maximus_asinus Stoll plays on the PK, leads the team in hits among FWDs, has offensive upside, and brings an element of grit/leadership. But he is somehow softer than Holland.
@Cloud09 @maximus_asinus @Cameron19 @hometeem with cycling comes secondary offense. As I mentioned above, the Kings do this and they are yearly contenders. Why are we modeling ourselves differently?
@Cameron19 @hometeem @maximus_asinus why can we not roll 2 checking / energy lines? If we put together a bottom 6 that could cycle effectively, our 1st line's defensive deficiencies would be less apparent.
