@vinoa @Reether @dlb Mad You would rather give up on Percy than trade a 1st? Not judging just wondering. Because Percy imo is a developing 1st round pick, and provides depth in the event of trading another D like Gardiner.
@vinoa @dlb Mad That is part of the reason I suggested the 1st, it was an alternative to losing say a Kadri or Bozak.
@hometeem @Reether That is why I threw the question out there. It isn't an easy decision to make. Trading your 1st is always a tough decision, especially when you aren't a Chicago, LA or Anaheim. It is definitely a gamble.
I don't think we will be drafting as high as others think. And I said I doubt the 1st will be protected, only thing I could see is maybe having a choice on this years or next.
@hometeem You're getting pretty butthurt over a little bit of friendly debate about a possible move lol
In the past we didn't trade our 1st for a 23 year old top 6 guy like O'Rielly, so your post is pretty off the mark
@mcloki @Burtonboy @wendelsfist @Anthony Petrielli Ownership, Burke was management ;)
@Whalz That is a trade that I always think on as well (same pieces). I do think Staal would do well here.
@hometeem @Reether We've been down this road before ..
I'm not saying I would do the trade, I was just looking for opinions on moving our 1st for a center like him.
@Marlies Man @vinoa @Reether I'm not sure it would be protected. I could see it being our choice, either a 1st this year or next.
@ProfessorRance @Reether I don't think the Avs are going to trade Duchene.
@vinoa @Reether I don't think you can really think of it in those terms anymore. Because O'Rielly > Jake Gardiner. He is also better than the average 1st round pick.
So I see a lot of O'Rielly trade proposals, but I don't really ever see it involving our 1st. What if that is the price to get it done. Say a Gardiner + 1st? Or something along those lines. Would you do it?
@Mind Bomb @Anthony Petrielli Jake has a right hand too!
@DeclanK well that is one less pest to deal with when playing the Habs
@Optimistic Otis @Yan28 I think getting rid of both could be losing too much offense on the back end
@sniperstar @Reether @4evrblue @LyGuy I don't know, but it is times like this where his weakness on D and his lack of physicality are too much
@sniperstar @4evrblue @LyGuy I think Percy will be more reliable long term
@dlb Mad @mcloki I wouldn't do that. We're paying way too much. JVR should be similar value wise to O'Rielly. And Bozak isn't that far of a drop from him either.
@sniperstar @Reether @4evrblue @LyGuy Ya if that is the case, is there another D that is ready to play the 6 spot if we trade someone. Maybe Granberg or Loov/Nilsson? I mean I'd still trade Gardiner for a center like O'Reilly, but still something to keep in mind.
@sniperstar @4evrblue @LyGuy I think it comes down to if they think Percy is ready for a full time spot yet. He is among the leagues worst in giveaways per 60 min, so I could see them being cautious.
@wendelsfist @Reether @Anthony Petrielli That's a close one. I don't know. You have to wonder if Ashton will get another opportunity with the buds.
@Anthony Petrielli @Reether @DeclanK I wonder what the price tag would be. I like him but I'm not sure I would want to pay what Colorado would want. It might involve our 1st too.
@DeclanK I have a tough time seeing them move any of the young forwards other than possibly O'Reilly.
@Anthony Petrielli @Yan28 At the very least if he is healthy, it will give us more depth for the stretch run.
@LyGuy @Reether @Yan28 Why? Franson is the better player.
@Yan28 @Reether He has been much better in his own end this year as well.
@Yan28 I'd rather keep Franson and move Gardiner
@Bruffins @Reether @T K O @sniperstar I defended him all summer. There was definitely some crazy talk going on back then about him.
@Bruffins @Anthony Petrielli We still have Kozun coming back as well. I wonder what will happen with him once he gets back.
@Bruffins @Anthony Petrielli I agree, I am cautiously optimistic that Booth will get his shit together and play for at least half the season. If he performs well it is an added bonus as well.
@wendelsfist @Anthony Petrielli Lupul
@T K O @sniperstar He really has gotten the shitty end of the stick from the fans the past 6 months
@Anthony Petrielli Glad to hear them back him up. I don't really remember any other "suspected PED" user having this support so it does give his story credibility.
@Anthony Petrielli @Reether Either that or maybe put Komarov in for Clarkson. Komarov has a pretty great turnover ratio right now vs Clarkson who is pretty much even. I do like Komarov with Holland right now though too.

@Anthony Petrielli @Reether Naz really needs to get his face offs in order because that is the biggest thing holding him back right now in my opinion.
Also I think we have missed Winnik, he seems to drive possession. He may not be the most gifted offensively but he is responsible enough defensively where it is worth having him play often.
Great Notebook as always AP.
I agree on the goalie situation, when you have two good goalies like the Leafs do, there is no reason to not play them both to not wear either out. I also agree with who you want to put out for the next 3 games.
I appreciate the comments on Naz's improved play, I think it goes unnoticed because his point totals are lower. Him and Bozak both have rather impressive turnover ratios (along with Komarov who is 1st in the league). I would like to see Naz played more with Kessel, it seemed to be going well, I'm not sure why they changed it up again.
I think sending Percy down may be a good idea. Not only to get him games, but I was looking at the turnover numbers. His turnovers per 60 min are among the top in the league (maybe why the coaching staff has sat him lately). It would be good to give him a bit more time until we make room for him to play regularly.
I have been impressed by Polak's tendency to pinch at the right times as well.
@Anthony Petrielli @Reether We're going streaking tonight!

@Anthony Petrielli @Reether Ya like I said I have stayed out of it till now. I just don't like going on either site and seeing jabs pointed at each other. Sometimes we forget that we all have the same passion.
Not to bring this up again but it has been bugging me and I've stayed out of it till now. I've followed Alec since HB and was on the MLHS when he moved here. I go on both sites now and comment on both. I appreciate writers on both sites and think they have great articles. We all know AP has the great notebooks that we like to read. Some really good articles have been on the other site too. If the two sites don't want to be friendly that's fine, just chill and ignore each other.
It annoys me seeing people post that people are turncoats and shit just because we like to post on another site too where some other old members have moved to. Some of those members still contribute here and like to hang out here. This goes for the other site too, just focus on your own site if you can't play nice. This whole thing just keeps getting messier otherwise. This isn't directed at any one person in particular. You know if you've been part of it. That is all I have to say on this.
@Anthony Petrielli @Reether I don't think it will happen. But I'm also not sure a player like him that is young will be available, or at least at a price we would want to pay.

@Anthony Petrielli @Reether Ya like I said Lupul and Hartnell have similar contracts, Hartnell's is a bit cheaper, but 1 year longer.
@dlb Mad @Reether No idea, I'm guessing Dion doesn't like all that hair in his face while Hartnell is in front of the net lol
@Hammertownleaffan @Reether I'm sure the BFFs would get over it
Good read AP. I've been pushing moving Bozak for a while, him playing without Kessel could drop his value if his play drops off, but best case scenario he keeps producing and other teams see him as not entirely reliant on Phil for production.
I don't think we are going to be able to get a trade for Clarkson that makes sense. He is finally in his groove, I'd rather not pay to have him play somewhere else.
I like the way Franson has been playing, in fact I like it a lot more than I like Gardiner's play. I wouldn't be opposed to moving Jake in a package for a top center.
In terms of Lupul, I wouldn't move him just for the sake of moving him. He is worth more than a 2nd round pick to us. He is a good player and can make things happen offensively. I would consider moving him for a grittier top 6 forward however.
Also in terms of moving salary, I think if a Bozak and/or Gardiner isn't enough salary, the obvious move would be trading Dion. He has played decently this season, but I think with the emergence of Rielly and the other D eating up some heavier minutes, he isn't providing the amount or quality of play his salary demands. It is still early but I don't think he is going to produce offensively as much as we will want him to either.
Random question also AP, if Columbus struggles, do you think the Leafs would consider a guy like Hartnell? I know he is a bit older, but he is a top 6 that can produce, be a pest and is gritty. I haven't made up my mind on it but him and Lupul have similar contracts.
@Yan28 Wheeler is such a turd, always tries to shit talk

Anyone know any good sites for real money fantasy hockey leagues? i know of Draftkings which was advertised by this site last year, but I'm looking for a league style as well. I think CBS sports is US only unfortunately.
