@GibsonLPStudio  Had to unfollow him on twitter. It was just getting ridiculous his rants and whines and how every other team had superheros and every single Leaf player was trash. And look how great I am, I know hockey and everyone else is a clown. Enough.

Day 1 into the playoffs and Sportsnet sucks even worse then I feared they would. Really disappointed what this does for the next 10 years of Canadian hockey coverage. Never was a fan of Paul Romanuk, that was re-confirmed last night. Kypreos is a moron. Anyone else feeling this massive dislike of everything SN has done this year? Strombo? wtf.

@traNsplantEdneWfie  Really hoping its either Futa or Fenton. My only worry is the 2nd Rd draft pick it would cost for either of those two before the draft. (Re-payable over 3 year span). And if your bringing in a new GM you absolutely want him to share his input with Hunter and Dubas on who your selecting.

@alanrodney  I think the Leafs take Marner every time if both are on the board. Too many things about his game are far more appealing then Strome. His size is not a concern (5'11") when you think of his two way play, his game intelligence and his sheer will to succeed. Strome has far more questions for me. Listen to the scouting comparisons.

Marner

A dynamic offensive forward that backchecks hard and establishes his presence through playing smart, puck-possession hockey. A very quick skater gifted with great hands and hockey sense. Battles hard in all three zones and shows a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the puck to the back of the net; an unselfish player. Embodies the definition of a dynamic number-generating machine who makes the players around him better.

Strome

Elite offensive forward…a big forward who moves well, and demonstrated some very good power and speed…is tough to contain as he used his speed, strength and creativity to beat defenders…has great vision with the puck and sees the ice very well…uses his crafty hands to dance around defenders and get into positions where he could shoot or set-up teammates…distributes the puck well and is able to create a lot of chances…has a lethal wrist-shot with great power and a pretty good release…uses his size and reach on the boards to win the puck and get in good supporting areas to pick up loose pucks…defensive effort goes up and down.

Its the last comment on Strome that I've seen enough of in Leaf players. And with Hunter, he knows better then anybody what Marner brings.

@gjdevlin  I disagree about the UFAs, you wait till August and sign a few $1mil contracts for depth and to round out the roster. Then at the deadline you flip them for more picks just like they did with Winnick and Santi.

Think we need to look at LA as a possible target for Phaneuf this off-season as well. Losing Voynov and with Regehr retiring, Dion fits well as a number 2 for them to take minutes away from Doughty. Is it unreasonable to think something like a 1st, Mike Richards and Tiffoli for Dion? This clears cap space for the Kings, gets them out from that contract and gives the Leafs a young asset and another first.

If the Leafs won the lottery, would anyone dangle that pick to the Sabres for their 1st, the Islander's 1st and Sam Reinhart. Is that a trade that Leaf fans would be excited about. Would the Sabres even do it? You get Eichel, 2 other first round picks and add another C from last years draft. Ballsy move, but I'd do it.

How does JVR keep getting a pass when discussing moving players out of town? Isn't he one piece that in a rebuild would net you more picks/prospects than anyone else on the team due to potential/low cap hit? Why does the media never bring him up as a piece to be moved? He's been mostly invisible this season, is soft as hell, a defensive liability and show virtually no passion for the game most nights. What gives?

@Xxxxxnew  Truly think Sportsnet talking over hockey is the worst thing that has happened to the sport since TV came into play. It has always been 2nd choice for me behind TSN and now with them upfront and center, it sucks ass. MacLean and Kypreos are fucking tools. This combined with a crap Leafs team might drive me into the back seat with hockey.

Not all the same relevance, but still sums it up. I love the Leafs dearly, but not sure if I can do this again this season. Really think maybe its time to step back and just watch game in 6 after wins. There is so many issues with this team that we better damn well tank and get McDavid AND Eichel. Anything else will keep this team wallowing in mediocrity.

I blame it all on the Kadri suspension way back when in the game against the Wild.  We were tough and aggressive up to that game.  Since then, we've been scared to hit, check and fight.  Fuck the refs, they screwed us ever since then.

There is absolutely an NHL agenda dictated by Gary Bettmann to help the poor team succeed to promote the success of the league.  Leafs do not need to win or make the playoffs to keep the league floating.  Pure BS.

@B_Leaf @peterbleafs@LargusMeans The second goal was very soft, Reimer came across the net too far and left the farside gaping open.  He has to make that save.

@B_Leaf @LargusMeans We didn't play uninspired hockey, and had our chances.  James needs to step up early in the game and make a big save.  Two games in a row, he hasn't.  Sure he made great saves later on, but the score is already 2 zip.

Leafs have 4 wins in Reimer's last 16 starts.  But have 14 wins in Bernier's last 17 starts.

End of the day, Howard out played Reimer last night, I get where Carlyle is coming from on his comments.  He may make a lot of stupid decisions but this isn't one.  Oddly enough, I would have started McIntyre last night.

Regardless of my earlier rant.  The difference in the way the team plays with Bernier in net compared to Reimer is startling.  On twitter APetrielli had a great point about the puck control of Bernier over Reimer and how it maybe allows the team to play calmer in front of him.

@Burtonboy Everyone is excited after last nights game because of the level of compete they showed.  End of the day it was still a loss, and if they shit the bed against Jersey on Sunday, Boston will cruise in on Tuesday and destroy us.  I've really lost all hope at this point, just don't see it anymore, far too many warts and not enough beauty.  I was all in until that Carolina game and then the veil fell away, and now I don't believe.  I think that Carlyle should go and that management should bring in a younger generation coach that will get more out of our young roster, but Nonis isn't going to do that.  I think it comes down to a young roster, that's lacking veteran presence to steer the ship when sinking, and Bolland was that voice.  His return will be too late.

Just looking at numbers, 36 games left, Leafs probably need 90 points for a playoff spot.  That means they need to go 22-14 to finish off the season.  No matter how hard I try to believe it, there is not a fricking chance in the world that is going to happen with this group.  FUCK!!

Reimer really needed to make that save there.  I know its a 3 on 1, but that was not a shot that should beat the goalie from that range.  That is what bothers me the most about Reimer, he makes amazing saves, swimming in his net the whole time, battles and looks awesome, then lets in the real stinkers when you need more amazing.  That is game over, if there was any chance of coming back, that goal killed it.
