@Zep2 What is your definition of "better skater"?
I would say Gardiner is a smooth skater but not overly fast. Kessel excels with his speed coming up wing. Rielly is a bit of both.
Nylander seems closer to Gards perhaps with his ability to weave in and out of traffic, but doesn't seem to have the straightaway speed Kessel has.

@philthethrill I know that there is a lot of shit in front of him to complain about, but I feel like Bernier never seems to take any responsibility for poor play himself. He always deflects the blame toward someone else. Not a very good teammate in that respect.

@wiski @traNsplantEdneWfie Why get abs when you already have flabs ;)

@thelongroad I would say that non-lottery picks are always possibilities. As far as potential lottery picks teams like FLA, CBJ, and OTT I could see as possibilities as someone like a Kessel or Phaneuf could push them from being close to being in.

@zombie27 @colino17 @thelongroad @Burtonboy I've never seen either available to stream. Haven't really looked through.
@zombie27 @thelongroad @Burtonboy @colino17 On HS? No it's all hockey stuff, but there are events like the trade deadline coverage on there.
There are other services around that will give you access to other stuff depending on what you want. For example USTVnow offers free streams to the basic US networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc) and has paid service for more channels.
@Jimmie Dorey @Scooby64 Can we rest some of our players for the golf season?
4 days, 21 hours ago on Game 75 Scoring Chances: Panthers 4 vs. Maple Leafs 1
@zombie27 @Burtonboy Works well (assuming you don't have shoestring internet) and doesn't have the limitations of GCL.
@Ze_theLeafsFan I would settle for McDavid and one of the 3rd or 4th picks to get Strome or Hanifin.
@ProfessorRance @Scooby64 Buffalo and Arizona are almost certain to finish 1 and 2 respectively. There is a slim chance we finish 3rd or 5th, but most likely we finish 4th. As long as no one below us wins the lottery we should pick either 1st or 4th.
@mcloki Not bad but I prefer:
1) Toronto - McDavid
2) Toronto - Eichel
3) Toronto - Strome
4) Toronto - Hanifin
5) Toronto - Marner
@Jmessih Letter of Intent maybe.

@dlbu dlbu E @colino17 I have no idea what you are trying to say. It's like talking to the Chinese branch of the Illuminati. =P
2 weeks ago on Leafs Notebook – March 17
@dlbu dlbu E That's very cryptic.
Anyways my assessment is that a number of factors come into play:
1) AP is likely spot on that Horachek was dealing with the lateness in his own way initially.
2) Management got wind and used the opportunity to address a larger problem.
3) A longer suspension was likely beneficial for the tank, but was justified and therefore not blatant tanking.
4) Management is gathering ammunition for a potential contract dispute.
5) Management wants to see how Naz responds to know if they should invest in him long term.
@Cameron19 The only way forward as I see it is trading them and others for picks and young pieces that can grow and develop together with our own picks and young pieces.
It's not that they aren't valuable, it's just that they won't be (as) valuable by the time we need it. Maybe they would if they were alongside pieces that they could garner in a trade, but this is certainly a case where both having and eating cake are impossible.
@mtommy This borders on abuse. :(
2 weeks, 1 day ago on Game 70 Scoring Chances: Canucks 4 vs. Maple Leafs 1
@Jmessih If we move out some of the big contracts he might actually be able to get decent money in TO on a short term deal.
@In it to Winnik BREAKING: Leafs recall Orr and McLaren ;)
@bear19 @Xxxxxnew I think in the NHL OT ends before a shootout just over 50% of the time. In the AHL, with the new rules, OT ends before a shootout something like 78% of the time.
@Jmessih I think the idea is 5 minutes of each. (Edit: or some other division of time. Either way OT starts 4 on 4)
@MaxwellHowe The only thing scarier than being able to come up with a list of 25 scandals during a single season is the fact that you were able to come up with even more.
2 weeks, 4 days ago on The 25 Controversies (And Counting) Involving The Toronto Maple Leafs & Toronto Media This Season
@mcloki To many texts already recognize the name as the former, so the latter will be used simply as an alternative rather than an official name change.

@20 Bobby Pulford
I am a die hard Leafs fan and always will be no matter how the team is doing, but @MaxwellHowe is right, the key to maintaining sanity through the tough times is a combination of hope and humor.
Lose either and all you have left is misery.
@Xxxxxnew If Dion is gone and Lupes is still here (and if they choose to select a captain) he would be a good choice. He is always the first one on the scene to throw water on whatever fire is starting to flare up.

@Ze_theLeafsFan @DeclanK @Cameron19 You're right, Oshie is in that picture...I hadn't noticed ;)
@DeclanK @Marlies Man Granberg got sent down and with Polak and Robidas done for the season I'm sure MacWilliam will get the start.
@wiski @DeclanK Maybe it was both! Lupul was the only one to jump to Naz's defence! HEY-OH!

On a less dismal topic:
Marlies continue their playoff push tonight. Here's hoping they can get in and get Brown Town and Willy Nilly some playoff experience.
While I don't doubt that Kadri's action must warrant some punishment, holding this presser seems to scream "Hey Gary don't punish us for scratching one of our best players. He deserved it. We aren't tanking."
@zombie27 @MaxwellHowe True but this season seems exponentially worse for some reason.
@Jay_Berg @colino17 I just got blueballed didn't I? Such a tease.
I didn't really want details just whether it was more in the range of too much Coke and Call of Duty, or too much Coke and hookers.
@Jay_Berg Things such as?
@Burtonboy "Hey Kadri, you fucked up, but now you can respond and show us how much we need you, and oh...by the way, you're scratched the next two games"
@MaxwellHowe @gilmourhalloffame Or get a second top pick and take a C and D. Of the teams that will be in contention for lottery picks I could see FLA or CLB being willing to part with one.
FLA is close to making the playoffs and have a solid base of young players.
CLB has to think that they are better than their record shows given all their injuries this season. They could look for a more mature upgrade, and apparently there was something bigger discussed before the Clarkson trade went down as it did.
@Kessel81 @Burtonboy @MaxwellHowe That's why I wish guys like Lupes and Bozie had have moved at the deadline so a few guys like Orr and McLaren could come up without disrupting the Marlies.
@mcloki @Burtonboy I was hoping the Leafs would hire him, but thought he was satisfied doing his own thing.
@Cameron19 @MaxwellHowe @FRyan Agreed. Defenders tend to develop slower so you can often find them deeper in the draft. Aside from Rielly our best drafted D came from the later rounds (Ex: Kaberle/Gunnarson).
@Joe_17 @Mind Bomb @Burtonboy I think the ideal situation is to trade away the big money core vets and then bring in some character guys via free agency on shorter term deals, even if you have to overpay a bit kind of like FLA did a few years ago.
@Burtonboy @Joe_17 I've also been trying to follow the Marlies more. He looks pretty good. Has great hands and seems to have good awareness (minus some hiccups adjusting to smaller ice). He also seems more willing to engage in the corners than our current offensive star.
@Tim Horton They finally fixed that in this years iteration, but I would definitely blame EA's NHL series for perpetuating the idea that 2-way contracts and waiver ineligibility are one and the same.
@DARF24 @steele123 Damn he's only 25? Look at that face.
3 weeks, 1 day ago on GDT: Game #67, New York Islanders at Toronto Maple Leafs (7:30 p.m., SNO)
30th = non-division cup winner
29-28-27-26 = division winners
25-24-23-22 = teams that can jump over them
21 = NSH
3 weeks, 1 day ago on Game 66 Scoring Chances: Blues 6 vs. Maple Leafs 1
Looking at the standings I would speculate that realistically at most (not counting division winners) four teams could jump past NSH. Which would make their pick 21st at best.
@Jay31 @colino17 No prob..just trying to prevent confusion =)
@Jay31 @colino17 But if they lose the division they can't possibly pick 27th. 27th is always going to be a division winner. It's just a matter of whether 26th pick will also be a division winner.
@Jay31 @colino17 You were off by one. Lowest they could pick is 26, not 27.
@Jay31 If they lose the division lead the lowest they can pick is 26th.
ex (if Division leader wins the Cup): Division leaders pick 30 - 29 - 28 - 27
ex (if Division leader does not win the Cup: Cup winner picks 30 division leaders pick 29 - 28 - 27 - 26
@peterbleafs @Leafbites Late implies that you still arrive at some point... so I don't think Kessel is ever late for a defensive check. He just never arrives for one at all.
@Xxxxxnew You better or else Rielly will call you a girl.
@MaxwellHowe @Burtonboy Don't be foolish...It's Joffrey...his belt is ALWAYS going to match his shoes.
