@PeterWie Are you watching the games? How can you possibly want Richards back? Do you know how many free agents we have to sign this summer?

@ejirish Are you on drugs? I get you aren't happy with Nash, but why would you buy him out? He is tradable. And why in the world would you want Richards back on this team? Have you seen his power play prowess? His relentless fore checking and speedy back check? The way he never slow down on the play and always looks for the pass he can complete before moving the puck? Oh wait.. neither have I. Richards is a shell of a player. I like him as a leader but he is a liability that is ruining StLouis not helping him! I feel bad for him, cause it isn't his fault slats paid him all that money. But Id take nash over him (similar salary) 100 times out of 100.
I was a young 23 at the time and remember it oh so well. Because it had been my lucky spot, I watched game 7 in my downstairs spare room on a small 21" regular box TV! I was recently married and unfortunately my brothers and I couldn't be together for the big game (not for any dramatic reason, but because , again, we had better luck when we were not together). Anyway, through about 10 jersey and hat (and socks) changes, I finally had the boys within reach of the first cup of our lifetime. My wife (at the time.. she proved to be bad luck for other reasons) was watching with me. With about 2 mins to go, I asked her kindly to leave the room so I could experience this alone, just as I had experienced 1979 against Montreal and the fucking Islanders beating us in OT, and then the other years of heartbreak and ultimate failure. She said she understood (rolling her eyes no doubt), and left me alone to finish out the game. I wasn't nervous, wasn't pacing as I normally would be as seconds ticked down in a 1 goal game. I knew we were going to win it, it was destiny. As the final seconds ticked off and the streamers came down from the Garden, I cried.. let out 20 years of frustration and disappointment. I balled like a little girl as I watched messier carry the cup around the garden ice, thinking back on my first games at the Garden blue seats, a 5 year old hearing all sorts of new words and trying to catch the pucks nicky would chuck up into the rafters.
I remember it like it was yesterday and I still well up!
This would be totally different. Nothing can compare to 94, and many people just do not understand (and ultimately roll THIER eyes at me) when I tell the story.
My daughters are now 19 and 20 and they share the love for the Rangers. I often think maybe it will be similar for them if we can win this year. If Im asked to leave the room with a few mins left in game 7, I promise Ill go quietly and WONT roll my eyes. Ill understand, because I am a RANGER fan.

So where are the viewing parties gonna be? Do we know if they will open up the garden for away games? Since I don't want to sell a kidney, I won't be affording tickets, but hoping to be with my ranger brothers for these epic games!

@mando24179 IT may be a bad idea.. but no way they are sitting hagelin.. the guy has been pretty good and works the corners. toughness isn't only fighting

How about maybe Faulk in the lineup tonite in place of Diaz? I thought Diaz wasn't as good last game and we could use the toughness. With that said, anyone who replaces Richards on the PP point is a blessing in my opinion. The PP looks much better without richards back there. the guy has no urgency.
I like Diaz, but instead of scratching miller to get carcillo and Dorsett in the line up, maybe let the kid play, let Dorsett sit and use faulk for the other toughness? Just an idea.
@FREE LINDBERG @nyr94 AND.. all star appearances aren't necessarily a great barometer, and championships don't really have the same pull in baseball as they do in other sports (IMO)...I think the yanks win the same amount of WS with or without him.

@FREE LINDBERG @nyr94 See what I mean?HAll of Famer, yes (compiler)..top 25 in history - not a chance..
@FREE LINDBERG Jeter is , by far, the most overrated player of all time. Excellent, great player, yes...but Yankee fans think he is BAbe Ruth re-incarnated. I have always said, if Rey Ordonez came up with the Yanks instead of the MEts, Yankee fans would be calling him a "winner" and he has all the "intangibles".... Not hard to be a "winner" on those teams!
With that said, he is a hall of famed and a great player.. still overrated by ridiculous Yankee fans.
@shoot_the_goalie yes and yes. Goalies are easier replaced versus MVP players. Dont beleive all the talk about Ovie.. that guy scares me every time he has the puck. I would shake Hank's hand and wish him luck and take my chances with Ovi Step Nash and Tim Thomas in goal!
@scrangersfan No, Zuc is not a keeper... Ive said it before and Ill ask it again. We have SEVEN guys for top two lines right now:
Ritchie, Hags, Cally, Step, Nash, kreider, brass
Which TWO come out for Zuc? HE has a big heart and I like him, but he is not a 3rd line player and there is no spot for him. 2 way contract or hit the road
1 year, 3 months ago on Zuccarello Still Expects to Re-Sign With Rangers
@FREE LINDBERG @mach1speed460 Zuc is a waste of money.. Big heart, but no finishing skills and he is too small to play in the corners. Right now we have SEVEN top 6 forward (HAgs, ritchie, hags, cally, step, brass, krieder).. which 2 do you take out to put Zuc in? Need the $$, dont sign him
1 year, 4 months ago on Rangers to Extend Qualifying Offers to Stepan, McDonagh, Hagelin & Zuccarello
I am OK with this provided we get some grit and size in return. I think we would be nuts to trade MDZ.. I think he had a horrible year, but who replaces him in the line up? As bad as he was in the playoffs last year, there was nobody to take his place so he just stayed out there. Unless someone overpays, I say hold on to him and hope he regains his form from 2012. Ill say it again, we need to let Zuc go and use his money for a role player. He has no spot in top 6 and has no finishing skills (big heart yes, but we need big bodies).

@FREE LINDBERG Sure.. I am sure Carolina will do that deal.. I wish I had your optimism!
This should upset some of you, but why in the hell would we sign Zuc given our cap situation? With the kids (Krieder and maybe Miller) and all this talk about being soft, why would we sign a completely undersized player with a big heart but little skill and nearly zero finishing prowess? Ritchie, Nash, Cally, HAgs, Step, Krieder, Brassard..Without Zuc, thats 7 forwards for the top 6.. which TWO do you remove to make room for this guy? I love his heart, but we need every penny and cannot afford a shootout specialist right now.

@cb1 In what dream land do you think we will get a 3rd rounder for Pyatt?
@KevinDeLury @Murdoch Im on a macbok and a mac mini.. no issues at all. What are you on a G4 or something?

@Josh6 yea right, and he will never ever spurn Neil Smith and sign with the Canucks either.. oh wait.
1 year, 4 months ago on Vigneault Is the Guy
@mlsranger @nyr94 True.. and if I knew for sure, Id be GM! What makes you think he cannot inspire the team? He has certainly earned a long leash with the players just showing up in the room. Im thinking he will be smart enough to learn from his mistakes. The man learned how to win, learned how to lead men (in the locker room too) and has been a winner every where he has gone (Vancouver aside). I dont think its a given, but Im not against giving him the shot at this point. That said, Im also good with AV or a more experienced guy..Im just saying I feel better than I did at first is all.

I originally felt the same as many of you on Mess and the HC job... dont tarnish his rep, he has no experience, etc..
However, after much thought, I am now pro-mess as the next head coach. I think we have a decent team (better than avg for sure) which is actually beneficial for a new coach (see Gretz in AZ to see what happens when you put a rookie HC and young inexperienced team together). I for one, think the HC is over-rated a bit anyway. It matters, sure.. but what matters most is player production on the ice. I dont think our guys will forget to play because mess is here. I DO think the HC matters in terms of the room and mentality of the team, and I think Mess can only help in that regard. So I say, bring him on, and maybe ask Shonfeld to be his assistant so he has some guidance in the x's and o's dept.
I dont think he makes the team worse and imagine the upside! I dont think Mess is one to be scared to tarnish his image.. if he was, he wouldnt be HC material anyway.
