I've hit it on the head with what Staal would be asking for( 6- 6.5 Mil @ 7 Years) and what the Rangers should offer ( 5.5 @ 6 years - same #5 Girardi)
If we had to move him... I'd love to see the Rangers deal him to Vancouver for Kevin Bieska (2 years 4.6 Mil AAV left on current deal) & one of their D prospects , Ben Hutton or Evan Mceneny.
That helps them in the short and long term. May have to add a conditional pick, depending on if they can sign Staal to an extension. (a 2nd if they can't & a 4th if they can)

Looks like he would require waivers to be recalled.

I would rather have taken a Run at Dustin Penner for 700 -850 K. This is a low risk move & the 2 Way Deal will allow the Ranger to send him to and from the AHL without clearing waivers if need be, ,,,,,, (i think?)

Offer Staal the same deal as Girardi. 6 Years with an AAV of 5.5 If he's looking for a max year deal (8) at 6 -6.5., i think you just have to move him.
@GiveGartneraCup He remains a RFA next year, unsure about his Arbitration rights, as of yet.

@IhaveawaiteratMSG @rangersfan @scrangersfan I think the Rangers Brass really value Girardi ,on the ice, off the ice and especially since McDonagh has been developing into one of the better D-Men in the league while paired with #5.I'd be surprised if Girardi was moved before year 5 of his deal. (and that would mean the Rangers were sellers -aka non contenders. His deal is front loaded as far as salary goes. So that AAV of 5.5 may be something a team would consider, even if he was in decline, if it meant only 4 Million is actual dollars. Cap depending. Slats isn't sending #5 to the Bruins before the extension he just handed out even starts.

Id' much rather see them take a shot at Dustin Penner, (Seguthci is off the board) - 750 K for 1 year - Calgary
650 -800 K????

@GregB1919 @Scott from SEC 224 I said offer thesame Giradri deal and that I didn't think a 7-8 year deal would be prudent but, in the NHL now, if teams can keep the AAV down, they'll add years. The Rangers are the only team that can offer8. What's i'm saying is, they could use that caveat to keep the AAV down and lock him up forever and worry about the potential injury issues down the line. (see Marc Savard & Chris Pronger)
Didn't say I agreed with that logic but i would not be surprised if they offered a 27 year old former first rounder, their own, a max term deal.

Offer him the same deal as Girardi 6 years with an AAV of 5.5 Million. The Rangers could add years, 7 or the max of 8 and maybe go up to 6 -6.5 but i don't think his worth is at a 7-8 year deal at 6 -6.5. Not with the Rangers lack of cap space and uncertainty on how much the cap will rise over the next few years.

looks like Hayes puts them at 50. Trade coming?

Unconfirmed report we landed Hayes. Anyone? Buellor?

BONUS AAV CAP HIT
2014-15 $70,000 $925,000 $850,000 $92,500 $1,775,000 $925,000
2015-16 $70,000 $925,000 $850,000 $92,500 $1,775,000 $925,000
2016-17 $70,000 $925,000 $850,000 $92,500 $1,775,000 $925,000
It's gonna take something like this to land Hayes... Maybe he goes 2 years looking for Arbitration early..
@gravey94 He wasn't even offered a deal by the Rangers.

@grosselk Glass = $ 1.45 MIL.
I don't think Columbus will part with Johansen and bringing back MDZ is not an option. he needs to find his game, somewhere else.
@KarenMaz its a compensatory pick so the team signing him wouldn't lose a pick, it's just awarded (anywhere from 48 to 54th pick in round 2) kind of like the "sandwich" pick for the MLB draft.
@GiveGartneraCup He played on the same line with the Hobey baker winner,
@IhaveawaiteratMSG Once he took the Vancouver job that voided whatever contract he had with the Rangers,. As long as he's not working for another NHL team, he can collect from the Canucks.
(That's how I understand how that works.)

Not that i don't like the Stempiak signing, I would rather have gotten Booth for the 1.1 he took from Toronto.
I like Devin Segutchi & Dustin Penner over Booth but I'd take Booth if they became unavailable and if they could get him (or the Seguthci or Penner ) at 1 -1.5 Mil. All 3 could put up Pouliot (or better) numbers.
2 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
Let the arbitrator award a one year deal to Brassard. (4.25 -4.75) I haven't seen enough from him to lock him up for 4 years.
Lock up Zuc at 4 years 4.25 Million per
get Krieder on a bridge deal at 2.5 per for 2
J.Moore 1 year 1.5
@maxrokz @KevinTheNYRBlog @Scott from SEC 224 I would still like to see Dustin Penner or Devin Segutchi brought into the fold. With the way prices are dropping for UFA's, maybe they can be had for 1.25 - 1.5 Mil?
low risk with another potential Pouliott return (and hopefully not a Pyatt return)
I'd take em both and let some players (Kristo, Fasth, Haggerty, Lindeberg or Miller) get more top 6 minutes in Hartford.
@maxrokz Ribero is a head case, bad attitude, and some other unconfirmed questionable behavior. (booze, drugs, women, another hat trick of sorts)
As far as Roy, I think they like what they have in house over him.
Roy & Ribero off the Board . So the Center position looks like it will be filled internally (JT Miller /Lindberg or via trade (Joe Thorton)
Ribero is off the board Nashville 1 year 1.05 Mil.
This is the most anyone has ever written about Tanner Glass in one day. It's most definitely July.
2 months, 1 week ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/the-clear-cut-case-of-tanner-glass-hes-not-good-at-hockey.html
I was referring to Joe Thorton.
Don't know how or why Brad Richards got thrown into the mix.

@Bring back Langdon @Scott from SEC 224 @Falconer Yeah he would. My estimates total up to 12.5 Mil. We have 14 mil, so not s much, but a we bit of wiggle room.
@Falconer @Scott from SEC 224 I think #20 gets the 2 year bridge deal. The idea of them locking him up for 4-6 years (a la #27) crossed my mind but, i don't Sather's ready to commit those kind of years or dollars to him.
The Reaming UFA's will work out something like this.
#36 4 years at 4.25
#16 3 years at 4.00
#20 2 years at 2.75
#17 1 year at 1.5
@EugenePlaksienko @King For Cup he turned 35 yesterday. he's still almost a point a game guy. He makes the rest of the centers better as they slide down the chart .Stepan #2 Brassard #2A, if they aren't in the package to get him.
It's all about what the rangers would give up to get him.
IF something like Brassard, Kristo & Calle Andersson can get it done, yeah sure
@EugenePlaksienko @Scott from SEC 224 @grublets on ice Ducalir won't be 19 until August, he's got 2 more years of Junior eligibility left. He can't play in the AHL, he'd need to be on the Big Club.(he can play up to 10 games before he would need to be returned to Junior) He needs work anyways
Buchenivich hasn't played in North America and is also only 19. I'd love to see him in NA, in the AHL or more likely, he'd play Juniors for a year. (Not sure of the KHL agreement, if any, in regard to underage (20) players)
That's why i don't think these guys are viable for the 2014 -15 Rangers
Lindberg & Miller I think will contibute to the big club. Kristo? I think he needs more work on his game too.
@Bring back Langdon I would not be surprised if Joe Thorton ends up on Broadway. At what cost? I have no idea.
@EugenePlaksienko @grublets on ice Only Lidberg has a shot on being on the big club next year. The other 2 are going back to junior or the KHL.
I like Linderg but he's going need a really could camp to slot in as a #3 center.
I'd roll the dice with some combination of 2 of these 3 at 1.5 Mil on a one year deal.
Doesn't help up the middle but the UFA center cupboard looks pretty bare.
For every Taylor Pyat there's a Benoit Pouliot out there.
@Hotfreak @dave0620 he's a shell of the player he was. Injuries and an overall "perceived or earned lack of commitment to winning. I'd pass.
@dook83 @rangersfan92 Yeah, that 10 Million over 2 years is too rich for our 15 million of cap space left. Setoguchi, Booth & Penner are still out there.
@KevinTheNYRBlog Obviosuly Krug stepped into a postion on a veru very good defensive team from top to bottom to put the numbers he has so far. I haven't seen himas a real liability out there either. his quickness & Good hockey sense make up for what he lacks in size. One can hope.
Intrigued by Adam Tambellini as well. Big kid (6'3) put some good numbers after moving to the WHL. Needs some more bulk and probably plays another year in the WHL.
Could Mat Bodie project like Torey Krug? I see a lot of similarity in their game.
Would rather see Skjei go back & play big minutes in all situations at the "U"
McDonagh made big strides his Junior year & this kid seems to have the same kind of skill set & make up.
@KevinTheNYRBlog @Skilmartin Not a reflection of the player he may become but this is just hysterical. http://www.habsindepth.com/content/danny-kristo-cleared
@rangersfan92 I'd like to see Setoguchi (1.4 mil) and take flyer on David Booth (1.6 mil) over Penner. (1.5 mil)
it's actually 3 years for 6 Million! I figured the Rangers would go 3 @ 2.25 and that would be that. Yeah, disappointed with this one. I get Stralman & Pouliot.
2 months, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/free-agency-tracker-7114.html
Looks like Tampa likes our system. I don't think Brian Boyle got overpaid.
There were 3 years for 10.5 mil floating around. 2.3? I see that being manageable. especially with Poiliot & Strallman already gone. He can play the wing & the middle and sometimes you need those "locker room" guys to get it done. Disappointed with this one.
@Bring back Langdon Not much . I heard the Rangers like Grabovski from the Caps. Legwand? Ott? No real offensive options. Would not be surprised if a deal is made for Joe Thorton before camp.
We got 15.2 MIL of cap space sitting out there now.
@Bring back Langdon @DP_Snotty @rangermom Toe Blake!!!!!!!!
Mason Raymond going to Calgary..... this day is getting away from us!
Why am I hearing the Rangers signed Dan Boyle?
How were we not in on Mark Fayne?
