Pics will happen at the park tonight. Figured it would be a bad idea to snap pics of peoples' kids at my hotel. ;)

First time doing the Spring Training thing. Not even at a park yet but fans all over my hotel. Cute kid, maybe 7 yo, wearing a Puig shirt in line for breakfast ahead of me. His parents are Rockies fans but he met Puig once and the kid became an instant Dodgers fan. They say Puig is extremely nice. Fun atmosphere here.

If Dan Haren out-pitches Anderson, did we make a mistake giving him away and paying for it?  Guessing the Gordon deal could have gotten done without Haren.

@Weston T  Does that mean you won't participate in any future "bullpenis" jokes too, or is that a different issue?

Gee, how tragic, more time for us to evaluate this giant pack of interesting relievers.  :)

@Purple Drank @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Yes yes, I know that line of thinking, but as a baseball fan, thinking ahead is what we do... and I don't see any good options unless Ethier is gone somehow.

@Purple Drank @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Absent that, and absent moving Ethier, what's the option?  Dumping Guerrero seems stupid given his potential, as does trading Turner just to make room for Olivera.

So...

"I see the bench lining up this way (barring trades): A.J. Ellis, Andre Ethier, Guerrero, Turner and Van Slyke."

I know you guys are ducking this for now, cause you can given the time still, but... if there are no injuries, there's only ONE guy in that list I'd want to see moved to make room for Olivera, and that's the one guy we can't move.  Any chance we go with the six-man pen if we can't move Ethier through some wizardry?

@B0Jang1es @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Mike Petriello  Which is nice, but if age and injury is a concern for Kemp so much then it makes no sense going right there with Olivera, even for a third bagger.  I feel more and more confident every day there were clubhouse issues with Kemp... who was right and who was wrong, no idea, but there had to be conflicts.

@Mike Petriello I say money had NOTHING whatsoever to do with it, nor age.  Better primary reason is conflict, secondary is injury concern, third is defense.

Rate my fantasy starting rotation, in a 12-person league: Lester, Zimmerman, Tanaka, J. Fernandez, Taijuan Walker.  Good?  Bad?  Run for the hills?  No Kershaw cause, well, I had first pick so I grabbed Trout, of course.

I am 100% sure this would not work, but wondering what the rule is that would prevent it: 1) Sign Olivera to a 50m signing bonus and a minor league deal, 2) after a month in the minors promote him ... his annual salary being 2 million per year over 6 years.  The reason: keeps "payroll" down.  If this worked, teams would do it so... why does it NOT work?

SO three things.

1) In your "A note on Moncada" part, you forgot to add something else that makes the comparison unfair.  The team may prefer a collection of talent in the next round to just one guy this round.  If that wasn't at play, guessing we'd have Moncada too.

2) I feel very confident that absent injury or loss of ear, Olivera supplants Uribe THIS year at 3B before the break, and for that money and given his age is already 30, he should.

3) NOW can we put it to rest any thought that the Kemp trade was about money, in case anyone still thought it was?

OK, so I personally rank Seager as baseball's 8th best prospect.  Now he's not even consensus top 7 anymore, much less top 6.  Sure, you can choose to leave out my ranking to make him look better, as a result but then you're just using something akin to "arbitrary endpoints" to make your case.

@uosɹədəɔıu sɹəƃpop ʎɹəʌ™  I never believed it before, but I'm starting to think there really WAS a personality conflict issue with Kemp.  I don't buy the defense argument, he's close to even in right or left, and his offense really more than makes up for any deficiencies when not in center.  I don't buy the money issue anymore, not when we give 8 million to an underwhelming, unproven and likely to be nothing more that AroobyDooby's friend pitcher.  I don't buy the injury issue either, cause he's likely to he healthy and productive for at least a few more years.  I mean, all of the above I understand limit Kemp's value... but it's looking more and more like there's something else here.  Jeff Kent lost favor as he clashed with young, up and coming star Kemp.  Now I'm wondering if Kemp lost favor for clashing with Puig maybe?  I dunno, but there has to be more here than we know.

Also, I missed any discussion on the new Cuban pitcher, so new I can't remember his name and too lazy to open another tab to re-read Chad's article.  So... I couldn't help but think that us crapping out 8 million on a MINOR LEAGUE guy with really underwhelming results means one of two things, maybe both: 1) management must see something beyond the extremely unimpressive Cuban numbers, and 2) the Kemp trade definitely wasn't about money.

OK so... seems like Schebler may be a tad under-valued.  I'm guessing the numbers support the rank he's at, but man, seems like every time he's given a chance to prove himself on a bigger stage he comes through.  I feel much better about him being a useful major leaguer at this point than, say, Anderson or Lee.  Have high hopes for him.
