@TellMyWifeISaidHello  if "former" GMs are included, we have like 4 of them already I think.  ;)

"but it also comes back to what I’ve always said about the public’s perception of player salaries: Who cares?"

Well said.  I've never understood why so many fans get pissed off when a guy gets paid.  I guess it's jealously, I don't know what else it can be, or the big salary reminds the fans how little THEY are getting paid in comparison and they take their anger about that out on the players instead of on their employers.

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @BlueMarvin @Dustin Nosler  I agree with this, I also think it won't be drastic.  But to reduce payroll even gradually, I don't see how that works with also making big signings unless someone expensive drops off (enough of them to counter regular salary increases) or we trade expensive pieces.  So because of this, I'm not expecting anything drastic this offseason.

@Dustin Nosler  You guys always say that but, the ad system is not THAT clever in all cases.  For example, I don't accept cookies from third party sites, only sites I've visited directly.  So those common ad trackers don't work.  I wipe my cache and history every time my browser closes, and I use private browsing.  As a result, I regularly get weird ads.  Which is how I prefer it.  :)

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @Dustin Nosler  You say that but.... they've been pretty straight with fans about their plans in this regard, when it comes to player payroll.  They've done pretty much everything they've said they'd do, and they're saying now they're going tor educe payroll.  Why would we not believe them?

One thing I just haven't been able to get a feel for with Guerrero is exactly WHY he's so bad defensively.  Is it an issue or range?  Weak arm?  Inaccurate arm?  Butterfingers?  Poor instincts?  Several of these things?  And do we really haev a large enough sample size, given his ear-ly injury troubles, to write him off at 2B for sure?

Also, random idea that almost certainly has no merit but... any chance Hanley could play 2B better than he played SS?

@foldamort @BlueMarvin  Well I thought about that.  According to Stan, the Dodgers before Friedman were middle of the pack on advanced stats.  Let's assume that's true.  That means there are 1/2 the teams out there worse than we've been the last few years, so, let's start with those teams.  ;)

This post had to happen, thanks for tackling it Mike.  IF we can get something valuable for Gordon then I absolutely believe we have to move him before he gets exposed... again.  If we can't get anything of value for him, then fine, we might as well keep him.  To me, it's preferable to move Gordon if the market is there... I just don't have any clue what would be realistic to expect back for him.

On the positive side of Giants news, some writer was saying Peavy has earned a three year deal now with his strong second half, and that the Giants are likely to give it to him.  Oh please, oh please, oh please.

So as I watch the two possibly least-talented teams from all those that made the playoffs emerge as the World Series matchup, I'm starting to wonder if the WIldcard needs to go.  I get why baseball wants to keep fans involved, but a Giants/Royals series kind of spits on the integrity of the regular season.

This post does a great job of making the idea of adding Byrnes really unappealing.  Not stoked by this guy.  Can't we do better?

@foldamort @BlueMarvin @Sad Towel  Yeah, I agree with this.  It was just one of those weird situations.  I know the whole Puig getting benched thing is universally hated here, but I think I get why Don did it, Puig was not only getting out consistently the prior two games but almost always without even driving a ball or moving over runners.  It looked like the Cards had successfully disrupted him with mind games.

@DBrim  I once offered an opinion which essentially said that I'm OK with sexy characters in video games (and think many women are OK with this too) in response to someone here posting a video ripping that issue, not knowing anything about this GamerGate business, or the death threats, or the controversy, or any of that stuff.  That led to me being attacked like I was some backwards sexist guy who hates women, and all kinds of other things that aren't true, which was extremely offensive, but whatever.  The response was so vicious and so aggressive, you typically only see that thing when it comes to political or religious topics.  So, obviously, for me at least, it makes no sense to discuss this topic here.  Look what happened last time.  So for that reason, this to me is... politics.
