@Mike Petriello @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Well you know the OTHER reason why I'm saying this... I didn't mention it first cause I know you think it's bogus (and TECHNICALLY it is).  But... former Dodger who many of us really liked, so, there's that lingering fondness issue.  For me, at least.  :D

Of course they show Lilly in a Dodgers cap too.  Didn't he play for the Giants last?  Use those pics!  lol

@Mike Petriello @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Well, reasons would be.... he had a decent groundball rate, is comfortable in Los Angeles, probably would sign for cheap (I think), and we need some depth cause slim chance this rotation makes it through the season without multiple losses.

Saw that the Phillies are apparently interested in Billingsley.  Has there been ANY indication at all that the Dodgers have even a small amount of interest?  Guessing it's best to assume he's gone at this point.

@Subtle Euphemism aka Jonathan Lingo @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Someone here yesterday asked why the home team doesn't supply ALL the footballs, and apparently, it's cause of Brady, as fate would have it: "Brady is the one who grips the football on every play and obsesses over its condition. In 2006, it was Brady who was a driving force behind an NFL rule change that allowed road teams to provide their own footballs. Prior to that, the home team supplied them all, tailored to the specifics of the home quarterback."

The Giants apparently have a projected FIP (starting rotation) of 3.61.  Not as good as ours (3.27) but still a lot better than I would have thought from a team with question marks all up and down the rotation and only one true elite guy.  Even counting for park.

@Mike Petriello @DKD  It reduces throwing distance, but does make it easier to catch and also makes short FG attempts more accurate.

@Tymathee @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  If so, seems like there are better ways to go about this.  I HATED their approach the last few years, thought it was insulting to the fans... and since I live here I can tell you, the fans have almost abandoned this team.  They'll come back if they start winning I'm sure, but meanwhile the seats are empty and the brand is being heavily damaged.

Astros... what a weird team.  Adding all these "meh" veterans now, after years of insisting on youth only.  Which is fine by me, they'll be slightly less pathetic, but I don't see them as near ready to contend STILL after all these years.  And if they think they're getting closer to contention then they probably should have talked to us about Kemp, or gone after bigger names like Seattle did when they nabbed Cano.  That franchise, either brilliant or incredibly dumb.

Interesting that ZIPS apparently thinks we're one of 7 teams that would benefit most from adding Shields.  I assume that's because ZIPS doubts our starters will stay healthy all season? Or does it just not like McCarthy much?

Instead of the MSTIs this year, maybe we should start a new tradition... a series of "awards" that we give out to the worst baseball writers of the year.  As voted on by the commenters at DD (so that Mike and them can still maintain friendly relations with the perps if needed).  We can put out a press release highlighting the "winners" ... which, if it goes viral, might even help drive some traffic to DoDi.  Who's coming with me?

@capnsparrow   I can't say I'm as confident this year as I was last, but I'm VERY interested in seeing what happens here.  This year is gonna be an interesting test of a whole lot of theories.  As always, by biggest concern is that our guys stay as healthy as can be reasonably expected.

@VietnamPadre  How bad can it be?  Same projected WAR as Crawford for 2015, and the difference isn't offense cause they're projected about the same there too (wRC+).  Crawford isn't THAT bad on defense, just a weak arm.
