@Disgruntled Goat Yeah but .... my version is responsible for getting Ethier benched! (not really)

@capnsparrow I like my Ethier version better though. ;)

@DBrim What's his thoughts on who's regressing faster between Kershaw and Bills?
3 days, 2 hours ago on The Chad Billingsley Effect Still Lingers Over The Dodgers
@BIah It may yet have a happy ending though. Plus, Bills is rich, so there's that.
3 days, 3 hours ago on The Chad Billingsley Effect Still Lingers Over The Dodgers
Reading this Times article on Howell and how he was told he had a 15% chance to pitch again after a prior injury. Can you imagine spending your childhood playing a sport, practicing all the time to be the best you can, all that time with a dad or coach or whatever, all the team practices and lessons, the trophies and the praise of everyone around you, the extra things it takes (plus the natural talent) to play at the elite levels of a competitive sport, it defines you, and then... all at once, it's all over. I can't even imagine how that would feel.
@Purple Drank @BlueMarvin So far pretty awesome. The weekend is close, which is a good thing. And you?
@Purple Drank kind greetings, good sir
@Mike Petriello @Raul Franklin This is so true. They came up around the same time, the two new young guns. Their wives hung out together. They were always mentioned together. I was hard not to link them as a fan, and Chad was gonna lose that unfair comparison, no doubt.
@Mike Petriello @BlueMarvin Understood.
@PagansOedipalComplex #19's helmet flies off just from being touched on the arm. lol
"And we’ll likely never see Billingsley in Dodger blue again." ... I'm not sure why this is necessarily true, although it could make sense. I like Chad, and as long as he doesn't end up with another NL West team, I hope he finds a second half to his career.
New'd. (When you post something in the previous thread, and then see "NEW!" right before your post is made.)
@DBrim Looks like when Verlander won it, he was the first starter in a quarter-century to do so? Amazing. FWIW, Olney said: "I would vote for Kershaw as NL MVP. As of today"
3 days, 3 hours ago on Dodgers’ prospect Jose De Leon making a name for himself
Also guys, although the playoffs might affect the votes at the end, it's looking more and more like Kershaw could win the NL MVP, I keep seeing buzz about this from writers. Verlander was the last to win the MVP and Cy Young, no?
3 days, 4 hours ago on Dodgers’ prospect Jose De Leon making a name for himself
@PagansOedipalComplex @BlueMarvin @DBrim Nah not really, but I do stand ready to be amazed at what Hernandez actually cost us being more than what was originally expected. If that's the case.
@PagansOedipalComplex @BlueMarvin Not to mention he was one of two guys given up. Will be interesting to see what Dustin has to say.
@DBrim I look forward to reading it.
Also I'm curious... what's everyone's thought on the newest PTBNL in the Hernandez trade? I don't know a lot about him, but what I read made him sound like he was a bit much to give up.
Saw this headline and thought of Mike: "McCutchen admirably playing despite pain"
@KMT59 @Raul Franklin That's so neat. :)

4 days, 1 hour ago on Alex Guerrero Is Heating Up At The Right Time
@Lobo From Ocarina or Time maybe?
@TheConman His head seems like it would go well on this body:
@Tymathee @BlueMarvin @P_F_P I think it's to stop THIS from happening: 1) I post at someone: "Fuck off." 2) They post: "What the HELL man, you're such a prick, go fuck yourself, I'm sick of your comments." 3) I edit my original post to say: "Some sad news, my mother just passed away."
@Tymathee @BlueMarvin @P_F_P And neither are getting DFAd, which is the point. We're not getting an edit button. :(
@P_F_P The Dodgers will DFA both Perez and Wilson before we get an edit button, amirite?
Heh, while I get their point, and they're right, what a shitty headline by the Times given the awesomeness of what it's really pointing at: "Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw puts in predictable performance in win"
@moneynow27 Depend on Baez, I'd say.... but if I had to place money on it, I'd say Drank is right, get used to Wilson.
@PagansOedipalComplex I wasn't aware of this, but it just adds to my thoughts about his limited trade value.
@moneynow27 @BlueMarvin @most valuable 0.2 fWAR His trade value has to be limited. He's not exactly cheap for an unproven bat with defensive questions. We wouldn't get a lot for him in return right now, unlike Dee.
4 days, 2 hours ago on Alex Guerrero Is Heating Up At The Right Time
@P_F_P The question for me is, when you platoon, what effect does that have on the timing of both players? Hard to get on a roll when you're constantly sitting. That said... I know the A's have used it to great effect.
@most valuable 0.2 fWAR I figured that reason is because he has a great bat, and we're having problems finding an opening in the IN so the utility role was being considered, not because they don't think he can play there.
@P_F_P @BlueMarvin @Tymathee @DINGERS! Hah, is that what YOU thought when you saw him pitch? I remember being extremely jazzed at his performance and expected big things.
@Tymathee @BlueMarvin @DINGERS! Plus that's not the point. The point is, DeShields was considered very valuable and netted a nice return.
@Tymathee @BlueMarvin @DINGERS! Ah, we all knew he was really really good.
@Tymathee @DINGERS! A very similar player got the Expos a pitcher back named Pedro Martinez, so it's possible.
@moneynow27 @BlueMarvin @PagansOedipalComplex The question is whether he can keep getting on case ... cause with his limited power, he needs to have a high OBP to be really useful. He's like the Brewers... hard to believe the performance is as good as it's been, keep waiting for the fall that might not come anytime soon.
@- Casey - @moneynow27 @PagansOedipalComplex Plus... Uribe, then Seager.
@moneynow27 @PagansOedipalComplex Not 100% sure that Dee ended the conversation. I mean, probably, but 1) he could get traded still, and 2) if he slumps badly, Guerrero is looming.
@TellMyWifeISaidHello @most valuable 0.2 fWAR How'd I miss that you're in TX? Which city? Guessing Austin.
@Uncultured Bastard @BlueMarvin Let's just leave it at this: he did a nice job reminding about the human element of this story, which sometimes gets lost in the numbers.
I like this post a lot but I'd have to write more than anyone would read to explain why. So instead I'll just say: "Nice post, Mike, I really enjoyed it."
@OCDodger @BlueMarvin Odd suggestion. But perhaps I can take my iphone with me, and play some Plants vs Zombies ... and if anyone asks why it took so long, say: "That's kind of personal, I can't believe you asked me that!"
4 days, 3 hours ago on Dodgers 3, D-Backs 1: Clayton Kershaw Wants To Know Where The Pool Is
@OCDodger @BlueMarvin @Mike Petriello @capnsparrow Well money aside, he's also doing a pretty solid job pitching, and pitchers like him don't grow on trees. Even in this day and age when pitchers seem to be dominating hitters, it's odd how difficult it can be to add an impact arm to the rotation or the pen.
4 days, 4 hours ago on Dodgers 3, D-Backs 1: Clayton Kershaw Wants To Know Where The Pool Is
Yesterday I didn't get to the "damn I wish work was done and I could be free" feeling until the end of the day. Today, it has started 48 mins into it. Sigh. Gonna be a long day.
@OCDodger @BlueMarvin @Mike Petriello @capnsparrow 류는 슈어 후 투구한다
@OCDodger @BlueMarvin @Mike Petriello @capnsparrow Yeah but Scherzer would be ahead of Ryu. ;) That said, will be hard to make that happen cause he's gonna get a LONG contract past the age when decline normally happens, and we've been wary of that lately.
@Mike Petriello @Omer (beercoozie) Mike, see #4. :)
