@Mike Petriello Sorry if you chimed in on this but... as Hanley's deal is kinda/sorta a 4 year one (5th year has to vest), do you think we made the right decision letting him go? I don't see that decision as financially motivated, but more an issue of current ownership just not wanting him anymore. So are they avoiding the bad here, or did they just undervalue Hanley?

@TheConman @BlueMarvin That's a tough one cause "Dodger" is right in the name.
2 hours, 57 minutes ago on A Closer Look at Joel Peralta, Reliever You Want To Have
"but since then there’s been some (unsurprising) complaints among Dodger
fans along the lines of “I can’t believe they traded a young reliever
who can top 100 mph for a soon-to-be-39-year-old who just had a 4.41
Does Steve Dillweed count as a fan? Not sure that he does.

@Dustin Nosler Interesting... and helps keep the faith while we're losing stars. We can't forget these guys DO know what they're doing.
5 hours, 5 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@TheConman @BlueMarvin @goupille Hah, good luck with THAT in Boston, Hanley. You'll wake up and find they broke into your house, and standing at the foot of your bed and have "questions" for you.
5 hours, 48 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@goupille You're right, the fans in Boston will not be as nice as we were if he sits as much as he did the past two years. And it DOES seem like Hanley gets testy with the media sometimes. Should be interesting, but I'm guessing he's going for the top dollar. And, many players do make it OK in Boston.
5 hours, 51 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
Maybe I should get one of these installed... JUST in case.
6 hours, 14 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@HunterStricklandsOedipalComplex @ABSmileBunch I mean, NOT being competitive in 2015 would necessitate making some REALLY asinine moves, given the club he inherited. And the only way he makes asinine moves is if 1) he's dumb (he's not) or 2) there's a financial crunch.
6 hours, 19 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@HunterStricklandsOedipalComplex @BlueMarvin Or... he'll get hurt and play half the time.
6 hours, 20 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
Some of you sound worried that Hanley is gone. But, was anyone expecting otherwise?
6 hours, 32 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@Dustin Nosler So to not be blindsided by it if it happens.
6 hours, 34 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@HunterStricklandsOedipalComplex More likely that Cuban slugger... forget his name... Tomas?
6 hours, 35 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@DodgerBytes @BlueMarvin Not to mention Sandoval, if I've ever seen a regression candidate in a year or two, that would be him.
7 hours, 15 minutes ago on Report: Hanley Ramirez to sign with Red Sox
@DodgerBytes @BlueMarvin If his health stays about like it did the last two years, in 2016 the talk with be about how it's impossible to move his contract.
So maybe I'm just bitter to lose him (even though I understand the decision) but... seems like Ramirez is a bad move for the Sox. Not long ago, they made a big deal with us to get rid of high contract players, including one who was injured. Now they're planning to have oft-injured Hanley for 5 years and maybe Panda too, the most out-of-shape guy in baseball, for the same period, both for big money? That said, since we were gonna lose him, glad it was to the AL. Just wondering what's going on with Boston, what a weird franchise.

@Disgruntled Goat So... how about those Royals? Almost.
2 days, 22 hours ago on Regarding the Dodgers interest in Miguel Montero or any other catcher
@HunterStricklandsOedipalComplex I mean, WHY does he have a job at ESPN?
@Dave! (Or Justin Turner, Maybe) I have thoughts on why ESPN is so incredibly lame here, but, that would require a political discussion which I have no doubt is not a good idea. So I'll just say this: FUCK ESPN, and FUCK Curt Schilling.
2 days, 23 hours ago on Regarding the Dodgers interest in Miguel Montero or any other catcher
@Purple Drank @Disgruntled Goat He seems like the kind of guy who would only dish it out not in a good way, never receive.
OK, the "freak out" thread below was fucking funny.
@KMT59 @DBrim You sure it's not lather, rinse, repeat?
@Purple Drank @DBrim Just for Kemp though. He special.
@DBrim We love Kemp. Sorry.
@DodgerBytes @BlueMarvin @the great dick tater @MajorPuigBaseball OMG, you said Ethier. I can't imagine a world where Kemp is raking for someone else, Ethier is a starter again in LA, and I'm not ready to kill something.
@Hoze @BlueMarvin @MajorPuigBaseball One of our best two bats for an unproven kid. When we want to win now. I don't see it making sense. Have to score runs, not just prevent them.
@the great dick tater @DodgerBytes @MajorPuigBaseball Especially not "logic" that says to trade one of the top 2 bats on the team to make room for an unproven rookie.
@JackedNate I have a rice steamer that says "fuck you." Plus, my fried rice skills are unmatched.
@MajorPuigBaseball The problem is, I honestly can't think of a single REALISTIC scenario whereby we trade Matt Kemp and get back something that makes the trade worth it. Not like we can trade him for Mike Trout.
@Diane. Ned Colletti's new position coordinator If Kemp is traded, and you need some help with the plane ticket from SF to LA to make this happen, I'll pitch in.
@JackedNate @BlueMarvin What does the Palm Beach Maritime Museum have to do with this?
@Lance Uppercut @moneynow27 We hope.
@JackedNate Or... and hear me out... sign Scherzer as a free agent and KEEP Kemp too.
@moneynow27 @MajorPuigBaseball @BlueMarvin That one WAS a joke. Sort of... we all seriously want to see this.
@moneynow27 @BlueMarvin It wasn't a joke.
@moneynow27 We won't get anything near good enough in return because of his salary.
@MajorPuigBaseball @BlueMarvin @the great dick tater He might, if they pay a whole lot of money, which, I believe is the case here. ;)
@the great dick tater Brim's prospective new employers probably checked out his site just now too.
I mean, that story says this about why Kemp might be traded... but damn if this isn't the main reason to keep him right where he is: "Offense is at a premium right now, particularly righthanded power, and
Kemp wound up putting together a nice year despite his occasional
unhappiness (25 HRs, 89 RBI, .287)."
3 days ago on Regarding the Dodgers interest in Miguel Montero or any other catcher
Thanks to Livefyre, I'm sitting here for 20 mins seeing no updates and thinking, damn, it really died down around here. So I eventually figure out somethings up and reload the page. Then I see the Kemp thing. FUCK!
@0ptimus @DroogyDodger If they're such good friends, why didn't Kershaw write about Ellis in his book?
From earlier this year, for those who missed it.
@Mike Petriello @MajorPuigBaseball He is SUCH a complete douche, always has been. I admit I was thrilled when his video game company tanked. Amazing after he screwed all those investors out of money that he managed to get a job someplace.
Considering the Dodgers very well may not find anyone who would out-perform Ellis on offense next year (it's very possible he rebounds to something in between 2012 and 2013), I kind of hope they don't cut him loose thinking he'll sign for less. The savings wouldn't be significant enough to warrant the risk. Just pay Ellis his 3.8 (or whatever) and if we add someone better too, fine. It would be dangerous to screw around with Ellis over a (for the Dodgers) small amount of money and risk a year of Butera and FedEx.
@Purple Drank @BlueMarvin @Jeremy_N Yeah but ... don't you think some of that was because he was pitching injured?
3 days, 3 hours ago on Dodgers acquire Joel Peralta, Adam Liberatore for Jose Dominguez, Greg Harris
@LiterallyPFP @BlueMarvin Just remember you said this when we trade Haren for peanuts later this offseason. ;)
@Disgruntled Goat @BlueMarvin @LiterallyPFP "Day after day... alone on a hill... the man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still..."
@LiterallyPFP @BlueMarvin No, no, no. You said: "So, we trade you that and you trade us seven million dollars, sound fair?" They don't trade us anything. Either: 1) they get Haren, and we cover some of their costs, or 2) they got nothing and pay nothing. Only two options here. We get an open starter spot, and it will either cost us 3 million or nothing.
@Disgruntled Goat @BlueMarvin This works I tell you... assuming we can find better value for the money than Haren, which, I'm think so but... who knows.
@LiterallyPFP @BlueMarvin No, no, no. We trade then the OFF CHANCE to get Haren for 7 million per year. If Haren retires, they get nothing and pay nothing. The only risk is on us, that we pay about 3 million to get him to go away if he does NOT retire.
@Purple Drank @BlueMarvin @Jeremy_N Guessing you mean the control? But ... 11.8 k/9!!
