@Lobo @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Once again, nobody is making decisions off two games.  You guys have that on the brain.  He's been hitting like crazy for a while now.

So I'm confused by this post... if the argument is "Guerrero won't be the starter at 3B cause of Olivera" then I get that, but if the argument is "Guerrero won't be a starter at 3B" cause of anyone else, I don't get it.  His success isn't a "two games" thing, he's been pretty much hitting steady since he got here.  If his glove is passable, he's way more valuable than Uribe at the moment.  I'm not 100% sure, but feel we likely don't win the last two games without him.  So until Olivera is here, I'd be on board for letting Guerrero play his way out of the 3B job at this point.

@TellMyWifeISaidHello @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.  I see him as being in an extended slump and basically don't trust him at the moment.  Hopefully he pulls out of it sometime soon, cause before that he was extremely good.

@DBrim @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  I know Don would agree with you.  I remember him talking about how much he hated it when managers would bench him when he hit a rough patch, and that he felt like they should let him work it out.  I think he's absolutely on board with that point of view.  Personally, I think sometimes guys just don't have their stuff that day; I always admired how Cox always seemed to know when to pull Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine, BEFORE any damage was done, for example.

@DBrim  To further clarify, taking Paco out was a strategic move... it wasn't because Paco was struggling, he just wanted the righty.  But when the guy he strategically wants to be in there doesn't perform, that's when he waits to long to pull them.

Your focus is on the right guys, Mike, it's Howell and Hatcher who are issues, not the pen as a whole.

Howell hasn't been good for a while now so it's a little disturbing.  Bad end to 2014, bad spring, now bad start to 2015.

As for Hatcher, I'm guessing he turns it around, but he also had a bad spring to go with a bad start to the year.

So yeah, it all comes down to Mattingly who really needs to have a quick hook with these two until they can get it going again.  He tends to leave pitchers in WAY too long when they're struggling, something that HOF managers like Bobby Cox knew not to do.

@JackedNate @Spork in the Road  My son is into martial arts, and I spend a small fortune on private instruction for him... but it really has helped him get the most of his abilities.  I don't think he'd be competing at all if not for private instruction, the other kids would be too far ahead of him.

@Dustin Nosler  At this point, I'm kind of wondering is Lee restores his promise if his best value to us will be as a trade chip?  The problem with having guys like Seager and Urias in the organization is it seems like it's hard to swing any trades cause everyone wants the (near) untouchables.  Maybe Lee will have some value in July, and/or maybe Schebler, though I admit I'd rather see Schebler replace CC in a year or two in our lineup.

@Dustin Nosler @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  Thanks Dustin.  From the day he signed, I guessed he'd be replacing Uribe sometime this year ... now I'm wondering what happens first, Uribe is back to playing or Olivera is ready to go.  If it's June though, Uribe should get at least one more shot at it.

@DKD  Don't let 'em get you down DK, this isn't a court of law, we're allowed to have hunches that are not information-based, especially when we understand they are just that... hunches.

That said, I think in this case it's just paperwork and procedure holding him up.

@JackedNate @ak825 @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out)  This sort of sums of the NYT guy's position, and there's some merit to it:

"He compares it to listening to a symphony: There’s nothing wrong with understanding how the tuba works or how many clarinets you need, but when you’re there in the audience, you should just let the music wash over you and appreciate it."
