@0ptimus Heh. I'm sure your imagination is a lot better than the reality.
3 days, 12 hours ago on Alex Guerrero is a strong bench piece for Dodgers, not full-time starter
@0ptimus @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Math Space Cat @Disgruntled Goat @Casey the DeliMan Except it is. Go read it again. "than this format allows" ... that's an attack on the FORMAT, not on people.
@Math Space Cat @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Disgruntled Goat @Casey the DeliMan Oh you mean where I pointed out that Livefyre is not a good format for long, detailed arguments? Yeah that's totally controversial.
@capnsparrow @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Disgruntled Goat Can I do it for Drank too?
@capnsparrow @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Disgruntled Goat OK, from now on my only response to him will be: "Please check with Cap'n before you speak." Will that work?
@JackedNate @PagansOedipalComplex Wow, someone reasonable. Thank you.
@Weston T @Disgruntled Goat OH MY GOD, ALL THE TIME! LIKING GUERRERO GETTING A CHANCE OVER URIBE IS A TOTAL FREAK OUT!!!!
@Disgruntled Goat OH MY FUCKING GOD, ANY COMMENT SOMEONE MAKES IS TOTALLY ALL CAPS FREAK OUT WITHOUT ANY BASIS WHATSOEVER CAUSE GOAT SAYS SO!! I TOTALLY GET IT NOW!! IT'S SO ABSURD TO THINK GUERRERO IS MORE VALUABLE THAN 36 YO URIBE!!
@Disgruntled Goat @Casey the DeliMan Who's the ass again? Oh yeah, me.
@Disgruntled Goat @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @TellMyWifeISaidHello Ah, you guys all decided I'm that a long time ago. So... whatever.
@Disgruntled Goat @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @TellMyWifeISaidHello I'm not gonna bother trying because 1) even if I nailed it you wouldn't admit it, and 2) it would take more than attention spans in this chat format allow.
@PagansOedipalComplex @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Lobo And last year, and why he got signed in the first place... but if you're determined to overlook all that than you will.
@Disgruntled Goat @TellMyWifeISaidHello @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Except totally wrong. So you think there's no information at all on Guerrero? If so, sorry I can't help you.
3 days, 13 hours ago on Alex Guerrero is a strong bench piece for Dodgers, not full-time starter
@Lobo @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Once again, nobody is making decisions off two games. You guys have that on the brain. He's been hitting like crazy for a while now.
@PagansOedipalComplex @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) That would have to be one REALLY horrible glove though given his bat.
@Impressive Math Towel @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) That was quite the magical moment last night, wasn't it.
So I'm confused by this post... if the argument is "Guerrero won't be the starter at 3B cause of Olivera" then I get that, but if the argument is "Guerrero won't be a starter at 3B" cause of anyone else, I don't get it. His success isn't a "two games" thing, he's been pretty much hitting steady since he got here. If his glove is passable, he's way more valuable than Uribe at the moment. I'm not 100% sure, but feel we likely don't win the last two games without him. So until Olivera is here, I'd be on board for letting Guerrero play his way out of the 3B job at this point.
@Dave! (Or Justin Turner, Maybe) @lance_uppercut8 Ethier would have had that.

@Dave! (Or Justin Turner, Maybe) @lance_uppercut8 Ethier would have had that.
@MScottEiland @Mike Petriello He seems open to data from the FO at least, so maybe if they show him evidence of a problem he'll adjust.
@Lobo Actually, I think that's the WS-proven Giants formula for success.
@DodgerBytes Looks a little like a Nomo wind-up.
@DBrim @uosɹədəɔıu sǝɹpɐd ʎɹəʌ™ Yeah, that was totally not his fault.
@TellMyWifeISaidHello @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I see him as being in an extended slump and basically don't trust him at the moment. Hopefully he pulls out of it sometime soon, cause before that he was extremely good.
@DBrim @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) I know Don would agree with you. I remember him talking about how much he hated it when managers would bench him when he hit a rough patch, and that he felt like they should let him work it out. I think he's absolutely on board with that point of view. Personally, I think sometimes guys just don't have their stuff that day; I always admired how Cox always seemed to know when to pull Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine, BEFORE any damage was done, for example.
@DBrim To further clarify, taking Paco out was a strategic move... it wasn't because Paco was struggling, he just wanted the righty. But when the guy he strategically wants to be in there doesn't perform, that's when he waits to long to pull them.
@DBrim @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Yes, see the edit I made before you posted this. He leaves pitchers in too long when they struggle. Hah, you got a like for that. :D
Your focus is on the right guys, Mike, it's Howell and Hatcher who are issues, not the pen as a whole.
Howell hasn't been good for a while now so it's a little disturbing. Bad end to 2014, bad spring, now bad start to 2015.
As for Hatcher, I'm guessing he turns it around, but he also had a bad spring to go with a bad start to the year.
So yeah, it all comes down to Mattingly who really needs to have a quick hook with these two until they can get it going again. He tends to leave pitchers in WAY too long when they're struggling, something that HOF managers like Bobby Cox knew not to do.
Guerrero sure made a strong case yesterday, that was a promising performance.

@JackedNate @Spork in the Road My son is into martial arts, and I spend a small fortune on private instruction for him... but it really has helped him get the most of his abilities. I don't think he'd be competing at all if not for private instruction, the other kids would be too far ahead of him.
5 days, 15 hours ago on Zach Lee Was Pretty Good Last Night
@Dustin Nosler At this point, I'm kind of wondering is Lee restores his promise if his best value to us will be as a trade chip? The problem with having guys like Seager and Urias in the organization is it seems like it's hard to swing any trades cause everyone wants the (near) untouchables. Maybe Lee will have some value in July, and/or maybe Schebler, though I admit I'd rather see Schebler replace CC in a year or two in our lineup.
@Dustin Nosler @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Thanks Dustin. From the day he signed, I guessed he'd be replacing Uribe sometime this year ... now I'm wondering what happens first, Uribe is back to playing or Olivera is ready to go. If it's June though, Uribe should get at least one more shot at it.
@DKD Don't let 'em get you down DK, this isn't a court of law, we're allowed to have hunches that are not information-based, especially when we understand they are just that... hunches.
That said, I think in this case it's just paperwork and procedure holding him up.
@TellMyWifeISaidHello @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Thanks for the response.
(Last update I saw was around the start of the month, he was still waiting on his visa.)
Have there been any updates about Olivera? Anyone know where he's at in the process?
@DKD Kinda early to bench Puig for pressing though, don't you think? I'd rather sit CC for a game if Ethier needs the reps.
6 days, 8 hours ago on Dodgers 3, Diamondbacks 4: At Least Yasiel Puig Played Third
@TheConman Or there's another trade in the works.
@Casey the DeliMan Call him up! ;)
@DKD We have a Big League Dreams park just down the street from me here in Houston area.
@DKD You have fun at least?
6 days, 9 hours ago on Dodgers 3, Diamondbacks 4: At Least Yasiel Puig Played Third
@Iron Man Returns Is this someone we should know, or just a random girl pic?
@Casey the DeliMan @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Yeah I have plenty of faith in him when we need a hit, he just doesn't have a ton of power... so I guess he's just not the kind of guy that normally seems to hit 4 or 5.
@efb @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) Huh?
So two things:
1) Ethier over Puig is happening already? Yikes.
2) Just curious what everyone thinks of Kendrick hitting in the middle of the order all the time?
@uosɹədəɔıu sǝɹpɐd ʎɹəʌ™ I fixed it for him, no charge: "You're caught on video. Return the stereo equipment that you ripped out of my SUV yesterday or else. Yes, this is a threat."

@†yma†hee I wanted to read this, but there was an ad next to the article with a naked robot lady in it and it was distracting! ;)
@†yma†hee @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) @Mike Petriello @juanhenry Sports media is kinda especially bad about this, because the majority of what people read is editorial, and you can get away with writing just about anything in an editorial and falling back on "it's just my opinion" if you're called out.
@JackedNate @ak825 @BlueMarvin (Not Freaking Out) This sort of sums of the NYT guy's position, and there's some merit to it:
"He compares it to listening to a symphony: There’s nothing wrong with
understanding how the tuba works or how many clarinets you need, but
when you’re there in the audience, you should just let the music wash
over you and appreciate it."
